Hello all,

As many as you, I'm a big GT-fan and today I got the idea to use the 15th anniversary 'logo' for a GranTurismo bracelet. Made it with SketchUp, ready for 3D printing. :)

But would it be tolerated by PD that I use their 'logo' for personal and maybe commercial use? It's not my tendence to make money of it, it's just a way to show I'm a GT-fan. And if there is anybody who like it to express him or herself on the same way, they can use my 3D model. Only thing you need after printing, are 2 elastic strings.

As much as I would love to have that, I think you should show it to PD and Sony before you go any further.

Non commercial use is fine. And wow, I thought I was the only one on the forum that had access to a replicator lol. :P Good job on the bracelet btw. :)

edit: Maybe you can give one to Kaz then ask if you can sell them commercially. :D

I think this topic is the right place to ask. And maybe twitter also to have contact with Kaz ! ;)

If it's forbidden, I directly remove the 3D model from the Internet. I'm very honest and don't know what to do with money at all. I'm not greedy at all. It's just the imagination that there are people from over the world with the same passion for GT and motorsports as I do. :) I think PD and Kaz will understand this passion and my vision to share this with you. If I was greedy, I didn't make it so public right now. I'm bad in business after all :P

I made a render / impression how it will look like wearing the bracelet :

Again, I don't want to sell the bracelet for commercial use, I want to share my passion for the whole GT-series. If there are any problems with it, I remove the 3D model directly and permantly!

Edit : Saw a small mistake on shapeways, I put the model open for sale. Skipped that option. Now it's only a showcase to the public and not for sale.

For personal use only I think you're ok but commercial and distribution will not be ok.

but if you're mass producing them for the sole purpose of making profit then yeah you need their permission. but if it's just for you and a few friends i dont think they would care all that much.

what is that "logo" suppose to resemble? tire marks???

lol no no no, I've seen the logo and understand where it comes from. but i dont understand that kind of a stripe it's suppose to be?? is it supposed to look like tire marks or what?

Yeah, its copyrighted. Should you disobey then Kaz will be round at your house and force you to buy micro-transactions in GT6.

You would need to have a licensing agreement with Sony being the parent company or you may need to go through both Sony and PD to get it commercial.

Owh. Yes, tire marks are true, EVENTHOUGH I can see little 15's in that pattern.
Hmm 15th anniversary and 15 in that logo, huh? Is there a connection?

Might be far fetched, you can hit me now, hahaha.

One of the top Ten life lessons is: It's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission:lol: If you ask you're guaranteed to either be denied or maybe asked to jump through a bunch of hoops. If you don't ask they'll probably never know, but if they find out, "oops sorry" works almost all the time, especially since you aren't selling them. If you are, then it's a different story...:odd:

Or it's a hefty fine for copyright infringement

There's no copyright infringement if you're using it for personal use and not monetary gain.

Assuming he were to make a small business (limited to his friends and those of knowledge) the motto of ask for ... Is not recommended. We have (in America) a judiciary system which states copyright infringement as such:

As a general matter, copyright infringement occurs when a copyrighted work is reproduced, distributed, performed, publicly displayed, or made into a derivative work without the permission of the copyright owner.

How is asking for ... The same with murder or theft? Sort of broad there but that's how it goes.

I have a bad feeling that when you'll correct people for starting dupe threads they're going to say, and i quote "oops sorry" XP

Exactly!!! You're getting the hang of this:lol:

But he's not selling them and I did specifically say, "since you aren't selling them". We're talking about a guy making some trinkets, not hacking someone to death. 👎

At first, I'm female :-)

Second, the bracelet could be for men too, if its not printed in gold, shiny or happy colors. I'm looking for myself and a relative to print the bracelet in black, or maybe making a negative 3D model and printed in metal. Then I can cut out pieces of rubber from a real tire, with marks and everything to make it rough and wearable for men ? :-)

Still no plans for producing it at this time, however it seems when I talk about this ideas like i did here above :P. I turned the model into a for-private-use-only model again. First I want to print 1 bracelet and send it to Japan :-) Very curious what they say :-)
