At the press they really stressed how well the CC7ST ( Corvette C7 Stingray) will handle.

Last generation C6 ZR1 did a 7:19.63 (2012) on aftermarket tires.
The C6 ZO6 pulled of a 7:22.68

My question is: Since the CC7ST will handle better, can it put the power down on factory tires and will it beat the C6?

I think it will, with the Carbon Fiber hood and roof and around 40KG lost it has a chance to beat either one.

I really hope Chevrolet puts CC7ST around Nurburgring, since its a "special" Corvette hence, Stingray.

I have arranged a poll to vote.

I predict it will lap the Ring somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. I predict it will be "news" for all of 2 days, before everyone remembers that Ring times are meaningless.

Poll now up

I'm willing to bet that the 7-speed manual won't make it any faster.

Yes I am anticipating how that 7-speed will go down. I have never heard of or seen a 7-speed manual in a car. There are only really 7-speed DSG.

I agree wholeheartedly with this 👍

Meaningless? IMO it means a lot. It is the ultimate test.

Hmmmmm. I don't lol. Nurb is the ultimate test for all cars.

I'm sure it will. The gear ratios on the base C6 are tall as heck. That extra gear will close the gaps in the lower gears for better acceleration.

But you will be shifting a lot more with the shorter gears.

Even though the C6 has tall gears it has enough power so there is no lag.

Good point though!:)

No it's not.

The track itself is good as a test track for road settings because of the many different surfaces and corner types. The track is not good for anything else of that nature. Manufacturers have different testing parameters. They test at different times, under different weather. They test with different drivers, using cars which may not even be the exact same as road cars. Sometimes they don't even test using the same start/finish line. Sometimes they test without even renting out the track, meaning there is traffic to deal with. Ring laptimes are nothing more than penis measuring by various manufacturers, and it's turned into a lovely bullet point to waste everyone's time bringing up in lieu of actually relevant news (Nissan has been really good at this, though Porsche and GM are as well).
And it's all done to produce a number that is completely alien to anything any of the buyers would ever use it for.

Trust me. 7th will be overdrive like 6th use to be. This car has more power than a standard C6 also.

True, IDK why they don't just use the same start/finish line. It would also be better if Sabine Schmitz would test all the cars, she knows the Nurburgring like the back of her hand.

Again, I agree with Toronado, and in this case James May. The fact is that a car like the C7 Corvette will see 99 percent of its use on the street. It should be fun and controllable at the track, sure, but it should also be comfortable and refined enough to use daily. A car like the Viper ACR is what you'd end up with if Nurburgring lap times were all that matter: hot, uncomfortable, sometimes hard to drive, and totally uncivilised. The Nurburgring and the real world are not the same.

Ya. And I forgot to mention that the CC7ST gearbox has that auto rev matching computer, thing? I don't remember what its called, but its cool.

Where did May come from? Haha. ACR is nuts.

But thats one of the reasons why anyone should buy a CC7ST, good daily driver and a worthy track car! Best one both worlds. Not to mention the improved fuel consumption.:sly:

How fast does ugly go?

However how fast it can go backwards. XD

So since the 2014 Maserati QP has been tested on the Ring during its Development, itll be Hot, Uncomfortable and sometimes hard to drive and totally Uncivilised??.

If it was designed along the lines of what Beeblebrox actually said then... pretty much, yeah. So let's hope Maserati didn't do it.

Whoops. I misunderstood that section of rules. :guilty:

Hey that reminds me of an episode of Top Gear when they all were complaining that Aston Martin kept on testing there cars @ Nurb. The suspension was bumpy on all of them!

Now I know what you mean.

I'm way more interested to see how it performs on Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen or Road America. The Ring is meaningless as others have pointed out and I think once car manufactures realize the pursuit of the quickest time around there is stupid, the world will end up with better sports cars.
