That is so cheesy looking :yuck:

Oh look, they're reducing the heatsoak and improving the reliability by un-Z06:ing the Z06. And next step is probably asking more money for it. But no worries, they're probably preparing a recall as we speak..

I don't think that means what you think it means, GM. Unless you're trying to prove me wrong by actually improving cooling in a sportier 'Vette, which by all means you should be doing with the ZO6...

It means they put the intercooler from the Z06 in the Grand Sport. It's not connected to anything, but this is the same company that did this:

So they figured it was good enough.

So, in essence, it's a half-assed solution? Well, better to have a half-assed solution that works somewhat well than a full "professional" one that is clearly not doing it was assigned to do...

Thing is, it didn't work. It still suffers from heat soak.

Honestly though, getting rid of the supercharger and going back down to stock horsepower AND keeping the Z06 aero kit is asking for some even more insane cornering. That's like the perfect driver's car now.

It was a half-assed joke

So it is a half-assed solution that still doesn't cool down the car enough during track use & abuse, got it. Nevertheless, with less power, surely there is less to cool and therefore, less to go wrong? I know that your collective answer will be "no, it will still fail to keep the engine's temperature within correct levels", but still, it won't be as bad as the high-powered ZO6...

I don't know what they did to improve the cooling on the GS, or even what cooling problems are present on the regular Corvette, but I was just mocking the current Z06 and old ZR1.

Really? I have yet to experience an issue for my GM V8.
2004 Cadillac DeVille... Engine over heated on side of the road after witnessing an accident, so we pulled over to help (irony almost) and had the issue go on for the next week. Concluded the issue was a faulty head gasket, something common with the Northstar engines. My cousin had issues with his Cavilier with over-heating. Those are the two I know of family wise, but I know of a few others with issues w/ regards to engine specific issues from GM.

The transverse Northstar is a bit different in term of engineering incompetence from the problems the current Corvette has. The bread and butter V8s haven't had those sorts of problems since the old LT1.

Still the point stands, shoddy work done for low cost, or premium work, at, well, premium costs... Except here it's kinda in the middle on price, but still shoddy by beating around the bush...

I've heard a couple of things about the Northstar engines. I have an L76.

Where did you see this, cause this seems like carry over from the initial reports, the system was updated and the problems shown were not these massive heat soak problems, but rather hard testing runs on new cars that had soft tunes until the engine break in. PCM sensor would act up prior but then would work well once the break in point was met.

Also those who own the cars on many of the Vette forums, claimed they don't see this issue that publications like MT claimed. And many of them track the cars and don't have to take these long cool down periods. So if this is just carry over from the onset of a supposed problem that was never again evaluated by you or others, then that's not the case.

As for the car...it's cool, but I don't like how it seems to be just a cousin of the Z06 without the engine.

Well it was not me who saw such originally, I was just going by the reports some (namely publications like MT, as you mentioned) had filed at the time of the ZO6's launch, which others reposted here. I cannot pintpoint them exactly, but other members with a better memory might, so apologies in advance for not being more helpful in the matter.

If the heat soak issues were solved by the updated system at a later date, then I can certainly commend GM on a job well done. And therefore, the GS won't have these issues either, which is equally good. As I've said, I can only remember the original "onslaught" over the heat soak issues, not the backlash that succeded it...

Hmm... It is difficult to like this as much as the collector's version, especially when that has a fantastic color scheme. On the exterior, that is, because the interior colors should have had their places switched...

That's what the last one was

Yeah but I could actually tell the difference between the two, from the outside. This makes the Z06 hardly distinguishable or stand out from the Grand Sport. That was the point I was trying to make.

Understood. If a customer doesn't spec the fender stripes the only distinguishable feature that is easily noticeable are the wheels.
