Hey im doing a school project comparing the Vette to the Viper. What do you guys think?

Viper!

Hellooo?!? 500 HP of raw displacement torque!! And It looks sweet too! Sorry, that's all I can give ya, gotta go. Good luck with your research!

I think the 'Vette's a little cheaper, though...like, $30,000 cheaper. And, also, I think the Vette gets maybe a TAD more than the Viper's 8 MPG.

vipers dont get 8mpg, 2002 get 11/21 mpg. Maybe low but ur shot was to far off. And if u compare anything with speed/acceleration the viper domintaes. 0-60 in 3.6sec, quarter mile in 12's, top speed stock of 192mph

vipers are hand made, too 😈 im also doing a report on the 3 main american sports cars- stang viper vette

I wouldn't call the Stang a sports car anymore. Here's my theory on the Mustang:

Ford is brilliant in one regard and that's how they handled the development of the Mustang. When it started out its life, it was there to challenge the 'Vette. Ford, though buyers didn't like it, made it more and more mainstream--to the point that it was almost crappy (those days are generally over, though).

The Mustang, which is mainstream now, competes with the Camaro, which is more preformance-oriented. Let me ask you, what is happening to the Camaro? It's getting cancelled. Cancelled. If Chevy did with the Camaro what Ford did with the Mustang, it wouldn't be cancelled. Although, unfortunately for Ford, what they did was compromise what the Mustang was all about -- fun, style, and power. But at least they're making money.

But, the hottest Corvette in 1967 was the racing inspired L88. A warning label found inside the L-88 carried this message: " WARNING: Vehicle must operate on fuel having a minimum of 103 research octane and 95 motor octane or engine damage may result." Chevrolet rated the L-88 at a token rating of only 430hp but the actual output was estimated at upwards of 550hp. It was declared an "off road" vehicle. Only 20 L88 Corvettes were built in 1967, 80 were built in 1968, and 116 were built in 1969. The second generation of Corvette never produced the world-beater Zora Arkus-Duntov had hoped for, but the reputation on the street was not dimmed. The second generation of Corvette were will be remembered as great cars!

thats all i have to say :D

I'd much rather have a ZR-1 or 2002 Corvette Z06 than any viper.

I did not know the mustang was meant to compete against the corvetee? sure it is now, but i would like to see some evidence of a direct market competition plan, or whatever the lingo is. Oh, and except for specialty models, like shelbys, i would venture to say that the f-bodies have more performance years in their history than the mustang. i think either all three should be in, or non. btw, what about the cunningham, or saleen s7?

i'd rather have the vette too. for racing, i dunno, but personally, the vette.

one thing worth looking into is the 1973 sd 455 trans am. if all i understand is correct, that is a very special trans am

and the vette is getting kind of old with the f'in design....
never like vettes, shure id want one if i could have one for free, but viper is way better......

oh and the mustang, arent they supercharging the engine in the 2003 model????

i heard the 2003 mustang is better than the 2003 vette...

The 2003 Cobra is SC'd, but it will in no way be faster than the Z06...:)

Yep, Vettes sure are ugly...

Vettes are ugly!:P

Vipers are not the prettiest thing around either!

personnaly, i'd get a Viper GTS, then sell it, and get one of those with the money!

Lotus Carlton... 400hp, 200mph... this thing eats Vettes and Vipers!

Viper!

'Vette suck

And I think you'd pick up more chicks in a sweet looking car like the Viper than a half-good looking car like the 'vette...

Corvette z06 (good vette):
0-60: 4.5
0-100: 10.1
Top Speed: Just over 170
hp/torque: 385/385

Henneseyy 800tt (good viper)
0-60: 2.4
0-100 5.5
Top Speed: 235mph
hp/torque 800/850

who's better?

Wow! Way to be real fair on the comparison there... That's like comparing a V6 Mustang against a SS Camaro. Let's compare the 800tt with Saad Saad's Supra, or Mani's, or the Lingenfelter 427ci. Twin Turbo C5 Vette. Things wouldn't be looking too good for the almighty Viper then...

Yo this is really helping out my paper. Thanks. Keep the comments coming.

Ok here, stock viper gts
0-60 mph: 4.0 sec
0-100 mph: 9.6 sec
1/4 mile: 12.0 sec @ 122 mph
Top Speed: 192 mph

Still..which is better :P :P

all hail the mighty 2JZ-GTE! 😈

Mani's ride is probably the sweetest Supra i've seen in a while!

Ooh, risky thing to say with all the Viper fans on these boards! But I agree with you. Actually, I'm surprised, Viper is hardly winning (60% right now) over the 'Vette.

And, yeah, the Z06 is rather ugly. When's the re-design? 'Vette styles are always great when they first come out (and for some time after that, too).
