Anyone else loving Valencia street circuit? Still finding it hard to consistently find the braking point for turn 17, and the ensuing sequence of corners is really difficult to get right in my gripless Virgin. But it's a cool circuit, good fun swinging the tail out of the slow corners.

Cool. Glad to see you peeps are finding this compilation helpful :).

YES -- above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks!

p.s. I got so frustrated by trying to describe corners at monaco without knowing the names, I went to amazon and bought a 400+ page book on that circuit alone (!) It only cost $10 used, so no big deal, but its great to see what youve put together here. Nice.

hey
the silverstone vid shows shumi on the IN lap i think (after the 40 sec marker)
also does your imformation have track records ?

some helpful tips 👍

You are absolutely correct, thanks for the catch. Yeah when I was grabbing vids I kinda stopped watching the full replay after the first couple of tracks as it was getting a little time consuming let's say ;). On vaca atm but will try to update soon.

Track records are a solid idea... will consider.

Updated the British GP (Silverstone track) vid. What's cool about this particular video is that it includes a dynamic acceleration (or "G") meter.

Well it only took a couple of hours but i've finally got the hang of Marina Bay, that circuit requires ridiculous levels of concentration

I found that it was actually hurting my right lower shin muscle because for so much of the lap I was going around on half throttle, just feathering it through the many corners. Only two straights of any note where you could plant your foot and relax your leg.

It feels great to have learnt this daunting circuit though 👍

Yeah I've only run this course online a handful of times, so maybe 20 laps total tops, and so far I pretty much despise it. Even with corner indicators on I seem to run into a wall at least 3 times a lap. This is the only track thus far that I basically feel zero corner flow when I'm on it.

Soooo... I'm impressed you've actually managed to get comfortable, and presumably fast, on it. Nice work. And after reviewing the Vettle flying lap you can see that he as well is mostly at partial throttle. Wonder if he grumbles about shin fatigue after a long stint as well?

Until we get video of a lap of the new Korea circuit, I'm thinking maybe the following will do. :)

ATM I'm kinda partial to this one actually:

What is that... like a 3 min "hot" lap . His lines look good though ;).

Any chance you can get the maps back up? All I'm seeing are the 'red X's in a box'.

Actually the maps show up fine with FireFox and Chrome. However accessing the page with Explorer results in the red x's you experienced. As far as I know this is a conflict between GTP and Explorer.

Anyway try to view the page with another web browser and hopefully it should work fine 👍.

I really hope Hamilton's 2010 Abu Dhabi lap gets loaded onto youtube so that you can use that - watching him monster those kerbs at the start of the final sector is just incredible, no one else attacked them with quite the same ferocity.

Well I'm guessing/hoping you mean his pole lap as that is one I've been able to find on YT. Also updated today the couple vids that went missing and replaced an old 2006 lap with one from this year.

No no, that lap was equally great to watch but there's a video of his 2010 lap for 2nd position on the official website, I haven't noticed it on youtube yet though.

It's interesting how his technique is so different in many ways in his 2010 lap given the different characteristics of the cars. He takes a much later apex at the turn 5 hairpin. I think it's something to do with the blown diffuser, it requires a slightly different technique for braking and corner entry. Listen to how deep the downshifts are when he's braking, it's really distinctive.

EDIT: I see you actually have put up his 2010 Q3 lap, that's the one i'm talking about.

Hahaha . Literally just this past second I was watching both side by side trying to see the difference indicating they were not the same lap. And boy was I having a hard time noting anything. Was kinda thinking to myself, "I know these guys can put consistent laps together but this is beyond ridiculous." Good to know my eyes weren't lying to me ;).

Yeah man he is quite fantastically good obviously. One thing that stands out to me related to the game is how inaccurate the low speed physics get. I mean it is clear Hami has plenty of grip on the hairpins not to mention the curbs, whereas in the game those corners are always very slickery no matter how one sets up their car.

excellent post most informative ,I'm in my first season and my team mate is Bruno Senna and it's interesting watching him doing a flying lap. My car isn't much of a car, however I think I can make it work. I did Monaco Grand Prix years ago and the cars you had to start with there were pretty bad.

Vanity post :guilty: :P

Attempt at a useful comment; watching the lines the pros take can really help your lap times I've found. Slashed probably 3/4 of a second off my prior best at Silverstone by simply taking Hami's lines through the new section (T's 12 thru 14).

Absolutely 👍 This helped me in a big way too. In fact it was one of the points I was making in F1 2010's favour when arguing what a good game it is. You can take real onboard laps and apply the same method to your driving in the game and go faster as a result. This most definitely wasn't the case in F1:CE for example.

Yeah I remember awhile ago you mentioning that, but for whatever reason I didn't take it seriously until sometime later. You were correct :D.

Who's vain? :D

Also after a periodic check I noticed the Marina Bay onboard vid got pulled by youtube so I have replaced it (make it a point to check out Webber's slide correction at about the 1:08 mark). Actually for most of the lap Webber is employing fair dollops of counter steer, don't recall the course in the game being this bumpy however.
