California cracks down by crushing street racer's vehicles.

Meanwhile, Ontario plans to crush before they get a chance.

I laugh at how all the street racers over the web think this won't last yet Canada has been seeing a decrease in racing. They think it's wrong, and the govt. has no right. And doing so, they continue to stand up for street racing.

Words can not express what makes a kid think prison, crashing, losing your car, or worse, their life, makes this retarded act worth it.

Crushing cars used for street racing sound pretty good. A decrease in street racing is always good, but I would have to say that more people might be happier that there will be less POS Civics running fart cans on the streets:irked:.

However, it seems that Ontario has gone too far. Can people just modify their cars? Or just use them for track days or high school drags? Modded cars don't have to be used illegally, and the government has no way of proving the intended use of a car. Does the Canada legal system really suck that bad?

I've been searching on the Ontario case, but right nowm, it's new, so the details have not yet been kicked out. As for California, I believe it'll run on a "level" system such as it'll depend on the situation.

This definitely made my day. Go California! 👍. I liked how the article called them hotrods, lol. What a bunch of :dunce:s

My opinion is that this is a very good and well needed move. It's hilarious that they not only would create such a ghastly car and race on the streets, but they are actually trying to stand together against this, lol

Street racing is such a new thing in CA, right?

These kids are growing up in the birthplace of street racing, from '32 Fords through '60s muscle cars, then maybe Porsches, then rice, etc. Many of them have parents and grandparents who raced.

Yeah, it's stupid, it always has been stupid, yet they still do it. I really fail to understand why you'd put that much money into a car and not spend a little bit on driving school and track time, join (or form) a club for legal sanctioned racing. That's how NHRA was born.

I cannot see this as a good thing, yes illegal races should have their cars crushed in front of them, but who is to determine what use a car is going to have before it has been driven, I am going to make some adjustments to my car, nothing as drastic as this 'street racer' stuff, but i wouldn't trust the police to judge what purpose my new car is going to serve.

Fortune has it that this doesn't appear to be as much as a problem in Britain, so, low profile tyre's and some new springs are on my christmas list.

For all those in favor: Just wait, as soon as a muscle car, exotic, or otherwise rare/valuable car gets crushed, you'll be outraged. Just think about that for awhile.

As for Canada: It should not be up to the government to decide how someone's property will be used. What they see as a crushable street racer, could be a legally track-used car.

And to further drive that point home, that is not a question of if so much as it is a matter of when. I personally think that the cars should be auctioned off and the money raised for something, though, but impounding the car is a good way to go in my opinion. Especially as it seems to be based of driving record.

@ Canada: I'll give it a month after passing before someone takes the law to court. The law, as we know about it now, assumes too much, and its interpretation is left too open for discretion. For all the government knows someone could have just put a big spoiler on their car because they are an idiot, not necessarily because they are a street racer. That is hardly a reason to crush the car now, is it? The law may be more agreeable when the standards for "street racer" are worked out, but I doubt it. The last sentence covers the legislation in the article sums it up nicely:
It seems that the focus of Bryant's attack is misdirected at the machines used for street racing when it should be aimed at their operators.
And in any case the Ontario law seems like one of those pieces of reactionary legislation that usually fails by the end of the year it is passed.

Where i live, the papers have been all over this for the paste week or so.

What i find really ironic is that the judges in court orders these "racers" to be crushed while they drive home from the court house in their M5's and AMG's which are probably a lot faster than some ricer civic.

As for Ontario, the cars that will be crushed will have had prior street racing offences.

Therefore, these cars aren't being crushed for no reason, after being caught again.

Before this get's picked up and taken as truth, re-read the article. They first need a court order to crush the ca, in order to get that court order they need to prove that the cars serial or identification numbers or its parts have been and I quote "removed, altered or destroyed." So if a Muscle car or something rare does get crushed, you just be mad at it's owner who took the liberty of removing, altering or destroying the cars serial or identification numbers.
