I'm looking to join this race but I got a LOT of stuff going on at the moment. I'm not exactly sure if I can join due to my complications right now, but I HOPE to join it. If not, I got a plan for myself for a series anyways.

At least for me, I can sort of put the races off if I can. I'm sure you boys understand where I'm coming from, we're all busy anymore in life and trying to do our hobby can get in the way of things.

OK I intend to open the room @ 20:00 BST (19 :00 UTC) for 30 mins of free practice then 30 mins qualifying followed by a 30 lap race. Please be aware that the car will not do the race distance on one tank of fuel and with the final weather slot being random a wet weather pit strategy may be needed. See you all in the room soon.

Very pleasantly surprised with how competitive I was. definitely would've ended up 3rd if I didn't mess up and had a one stop strategy like everyone else. I didn't know how long the tires would last since I didn't do any long practice runs so I planned to do 12-12-6, but ended up doing 10-10-10 since I crashed on lap 9. Also had no idea how the pit menu worked since I've never pitted in this game before so I cost my self like 5 seconds on the first stop. Spun 3 times in the last stint when I was almost within catching distance of spooky and ICH, and had to do the last 2 laps with bad damage again.

Definitely messed up ICH a few times braking really early, I'm too used to GT6 still and was trying to save the front tires. All in all very happy with my first real pCARS race and the first time driving that car.

Thanks for @Eyeseeh50 for hosting. Had a great race, finished 4th using default setup which seemed to work really well for me. Definitely would have ended up 3rd... but I miscalculated fuel at my pit stop and had to do a splash and dash with 3 laps to go!!! At one point I misjudged a corner and ended up in the wall nose first, but got away with no damage.

Really enjoyed the race, had a few good battles and everyone I came across drove impeccably. Well done guys.

Looking forward to the next one already.

Was good fun, enjoyed the first stint with the close race between us mate. Well done on being so competitive straight away.. Hope to see you out on track again soon.

I think the event went very well, some great clean racing going on.
I too elected to use the default setup which only let me down once the car became empty of fuel. Did the whole race with out changing tyres (not through choice but it worked well) and only pitting for fuel and damage repairs.

Every race should be like this one. I saw only good driving and apart for a few accidents it looked like everyone (that finished) enjoyed the race. Great combo @Eyeseeh50 . I´m looking forward to the next one already!

I had a minor accident lap 1 that gave me 10% aero damage but it was not enoough to slow me down much. Later (lap 12?) I had a big crash with someone in the 2nd corner that had a crash and spin in front of me and couldnt get out of the way for me and 2 others behind me. I chose the wrong side to overtake  sorry for that. I then had 60% aero damage and had to pit and got some fuel at the same time so that was the only stop I had. Didn´t change tires and my lap times were consistent in 2:16s except when hitting traffic

My race was horrible. Was fine for the start of practice but I noticed the handling sucked over time. (I blame that on lack of knowledge on the car and also tuning skills)

My biggest issue was on the hills the back end for whatever reason always wanted to kiss the wall or go 180, I think it was either to much lock in the LSD or the tires "refused" to gain traction in banked turns. I also had the waste gate almost set pretty high in PSI but I doubt high torque was the problem because others started to replicate my speed afterwards during practice.
I could blame myself for not sticking to my guts for the extra straight speed by putting the Radiator to 35% like I originally planned but I chickened out on that plan because was worried it would blow the engine since I have YET to succeed in a true Endurance race on this game, most of my frustration is due to my lack of tuning skills and everyone creaming me in terms of their tuning abilities.

Also my driving has gotten seriously sloppy and I feel very burnt out anymore (Mental straighten isn't what it used to be, and I'm only 21....). I am probably going to blame my lack of interest in trying anymore in racing. But I KNOW I got the skill it's just getting it out is the problem, the game just feels more difficult to understand than GT was and I had more time to "Master" it than Pcars.

I basically "tired" to wreck myself out afterwards because it sucked THAT hard. I think engine damage was off, because I wanted the engine to blow REALLY bad!

Overall, I am didn't enjoy the race after just a few laps. All because the car was disgusting for the race. Trust me, even a pro would of quit right on the spot if he felt the way my car did. I'm serious it was THAT awful.....

Sorry to hear that, I know how it feels as at times I get really frustrated with the game and my ability to be competitive. I personally have given up with the tuning aspect of the game and use the cars stock, I only adjust the fuel level for what ever race I am in and concentrate on learning the car. I wish there was a tuning guide with a flow diagram that you work through to setup a car to your liking. This of course would take time which I don't have a lot of spare so I guess I will stick with the stock items.
I hope you don't give up and will see you on track again soon.

@Carnby7 most cars are OK stock and there is always a tune to be found somewhere. if not, you can send me a pm and I'll give you mine next time I'm on :)
The biggest problem with that car imo is that it doesn't have adjustable lsd. Or is that a good thing?

In free practice I stopped before finish line to have a slower lap time :P I was on a low 2:16 lap but best lap was 2:20.

When I tune I start on the first page with tyre pressure and then go to next page and try different things there. When I'm happy with that I go to next and so on.

I also had the wastegate almost set pretty high in PSI but I doubt high torque was the problem

Firstly, the higher torque could have been the issue. During practice I had the wastegate on whatever the default setting is and had no problems keeping the car facing the right way, but in qualifying I cranked the wastegate up and found myself struggling to keep traction during some of the hill turns. I wound it back out for the race and had no problems.

Secondly, not everyone is a tuner, I'm certainly not. All I messed with was the final gear ratio and fuel load, which you can hardly class as tuning. So to say that everyone creamed you in terms of tuning is a moot point.

Thirdly, it sounds like you only enjoy a race if you win, that's fine, but in my experience endurance races aren't all about winning. To me it's more about getting to know the car and the track and more importantly the taking part. That might sound like a worn out cliché a loser would say, but go online in a public lobby and you won't even be able to find a race 30 laps long, let alone be able to race with a bunch of like-minded people that don't just want to put you in the wall at the first opportunity. Winning is a nice feeling, but so is having a clean battle with someone for 10 laps at full speed and finishing the race seconds apart.

I think if you forgot about the winning and relaxed a bit you would have enjoyed it.

I'll put the muzzle back on now.

I did the same thing with wastegate. Too high and was impossible to drive. We have several weeks to prepare, tune, fail and reset. I do change a few things when tuning to make the car easier to drive for me. If it gets faster or slower doesnt matter. I could not care less about winning. What I want is a good competitive race with clean drivers. We had that last night and it was really a pleasure racing at Bathurst!

Actually you are pretty wrong on your last examination. I am actually an experienced Endurance racer and LOVE racing. But what flipped me off was the horrid tune, otherwise I would of been fine in the top 5 at best. I actually got mostly 2nd and 3rd in most endurance races anyways, and that's saying something.

This game just makes tuning a nightmare compared to GT, I'm going to blame that on the GUI and really annoying layout they got for Pcars, in reality they need to have a graph just like GT has for knowing what the car "might" do and it could save you HOURS on tuning. Even in reality, the test driving is done WAAAAAAAAAAY before the drivers actually touch the car, so all they got to do is hop in it and drive it a few laps, tweak it and do some minor polishing for extra speed the driver believes he can get for the track. It's obviously not thought out and have kept it that way since Alpha.

I battle for position, but if I am not able to fight and am dead last with the worst car I just retire. I already lost the race why bother driving against better opponents? Think of this way bro, what if you have to survive a US Invasion and YOU had to take EVERYONE out. Only you, nobody else. Doesn't seem fair does it? Well it's not fair in racing either, you either are well knowledge or you're going to fall behind. I just lack the understatement in this game. It's fun for the driving aspect but to take it seriously is not user friendly enough to make simple adjustments much easier.

2nd, Of course nobody is a tuner. There is always that 1 in every crowd that is. But funny enough, some tuners don't even drive their cars because they drive terribly but they can make a WICKED tune job on their cars. I'm just a driver but I know the workings of a car, the only 1 that really confuses me and perplexes me so much is the Dampers. GT had that somewhat simple to figure out (I always kept them the same values but I always adjusted them when needed) but in this game you need to KNOW your values in order to tune them properly. It's actually real Geometry in the game, only engineers can understand some of what the values mean.

3rd, I had a feeling it was the Wastegate but I felt like I could hold it. (I've driven some really toqurey cars before, Viper anyone?) Maybe if I knocked her down a few inch's and put my radiator at 35% like I originally planned I would of done much better. But I know what caused most of the issue, the tires just didn't hold the grip. Maybe if I adjusted the lock to be much lower I would of gotten the hill climbing half much better.

Overall, I am not a quitter or a poser looking to "Win" every race (I race to be competitive, not to win. Winning is only half the sport). I want to enjoy my race without consequence. But I've lately ran into more problems taking things seriously and it ends up ruining my driving. Always was this way since GT5, I've won a few races before but I also epic failed a few times before in races costing me my first place or top 3 finishes. I guess maybe I cannot take "racing" pressure to well. Some drivers unfortunately are like this and cannot do anything about it except try to overcome that pressure.

There is exactly that in the official Project Cars forum. It might be linked from the game resources thread.

@Carnby7 have you had a look at the official forum too. There are quite a few helpful tuning guides there too. It's handy to read in your phone while tuning on PS4.

I too tend to just race with default setup. I sometimes change a few things. Give it time. I used to find the tuning in Gt5/Gt6 rubbish and pretty incomprehensible. With project cars I feel much more confident to tweak things as the physics of cars and tyre models are so much better. I find it much easier to understand what something does by just tweaking it. Having said all that I have so little time to time I end up using default setups most of the time. I certainly haven't adjusted anything more than ride height and springs in suspension. Maybe sway bars too. So most of the time it's use default and learn the car.
