8 laps Nurburgring 24h lay out



My intention is to write a report on the race held on March the 2nd + pictures. The idea is to have a history of events on all races held at CRCR League.

The report will include lap times, number of pit stops (strategies) and the most representative actions on the race.

Hello and welcome to the first CRCR League event of 2012 season.

It is sunny here at Nurburgring, a beautiful afternoon and a very good race in prospect, only 6 drivers managed to attend the race but this will not stop the show!

All drivers had done the formation lap, everybody is waiting on the grid for the green light.

THE RACE

LAP 1

Green, green, green!!!!

And here we go!

The Ferrari California takes the lead after a very good start, everybody heading to the first corner, is going to be tough, but all drivers negotiate the corner on a very clean way, no accidents, congratulations to all drivers!



Heading to the Dunlop corner the order is DADY/USH/SPEED/VUJA/TAK/M, but on the corner exit DG on sport medium cold tires loses traction to give the position back to USH.





Entering the Ring course we can see two groups already split. USH/SPEED/DADY and some seconds behind VUJA/TAK/M



DADY is pushing very hard to take the lead, he seems to be the faster of these three drivers, DADY and SPEED are very close to go offroad but they manage to keep the car on the track. It seems DADY is struggling for grip but he is still very fast nonetheless.

All drivers driving on the edge, this could compromise tire wear!

Half way through this first lap USH/DADY just separated by inches with already a clear gap to the rest.

DADY attacks wherever he can but USH manages to keep the lead, leaving no room but never breaking the tow, clean racing!

In the Karusell the order is USH/DADY ------ SPEED -------VUJA/TAK -----M



DADY keeps pushing and pressing USH, and here it comes Dottinger Hohe and its long straight where DADY overtakes USH an takes the lead! Just to lose it again as USH is drafting DADY!




All drivers are very close past the long straight, what a close and exciting race!



By the end of the first lap these are the lap times and current standings

LAP 2

At the end of the stat/finish straight SPPED overshoot the corner and goes straight! He misjudged totally the braking point but he still can hold it for 3rd place just in front of VUJA. USH is still on the lead!



Exiting Dunlop corner SPEED loses traction and gives two places away, VUJA is now 3rd and TAK 4th! M is still in 6th place, not far behind he is making no errors but it seems the Audi R8 will not be able to fight for the victory, it lacks a bit of pace.

Sunset is coming, fear the dark! Headlights on, highbeams dance!

TAK is pressing VUJA although with no success, SPEED is the perfect guest in this 1vs1 party, all drivers negotiating Veedol corner in such a clean way! What a great race! Fair play, fast drivers!



Meanwhile DADY is still trying to overtake USH, but no way DADY, USH is closing the door, did you find the key?

As TAK loses the rear end SPEED takes 4th place, he took his chance no doubt about it. But oh no! TAK it seems lost his concentration after that mistake and crashes at Flugplatz (where else!) but drama is not over yet, as M crashes against TAK which was crossed along the road, he was the WALL! Bad luck for M who was still consistent in 6th place but not far behind the leaders. M and TAK rejoin the track with their cars damaged M in 5th and 6th place. Problem is that after the crash there is now a huge gap in between the first four drivers and these last two.









VUJA is closing to USH/DADY but more drama as he loses it at Aremberg corner and gives 3rd place to SPEED, not only he crashed but he ended up in the gravel trap, that was a costly mistake by VUJA, his car is damaged and he has lost a lot of time!





USH/DADY are playing their own game, making no errors they are still racing close, DG cannot overtake USH, no room left. they respect each other.



TAK takes 5th place from M, so the standing mid way through the second lap is USH/DADY/SPEED/VUJA/TAK/M



And finally DADY takes the lead! he passed USH at Kesselchen, good move DADY, patience is the mother of science. SPEED in 3rd just 1 second behind USH. What a thrill!



And unexpectedly DADY loses the rear at Karusell so USH takes back the lead with SPEED in 2nd just behind, what a race ladies and gentlemen!



Is pitch black now at Nurburgring with USH/SPEED/DADY/VUJA/TAK/M

Past Dotinger Hohe DADY overtakes SPEED once again, VUJA is in the middle of nowhere and DADY overtakes USH too , that Honda S2000 R1 is fast, oh yes it is!

By the End of 2nd lap:

LAP 3



And here we go into another lap with USH making a move on the inside at Castrol-S at the end of the straight, what an overtake, a perfect maneuver to regain the lead and compromising once again DADY´s pace, the California is in the lead!





At the back disappointment for M, a bad lap after all, he is losing now more than 40 sec to the leaders thanks to a surprise pit stop, probably his tires were too damaged.



All drivers are starting to feel tire wear, DADY makes a series of errors before the Karusell giving USH some space, he must be sweating keeping his Honda R1 on the track . But wait! USH lost it, he spins in the Karusell, it seems he needs DADY´s company to keep focus.







A bit further back VUJA is closing the gap to SPEED which has grip problems, his tires are going off, the BMW M5 is a hungry animal!

So DADY takes back the lead, now it is his chance! He cannot miss this opportunity, and indeed he doesn´t, DADY is pulling away, what an impressive race from DADY on sports medium tires, the only one in this race with a different strategy from the start.

By the End of 3rd lap:

2nd - USH (Ferrari) - 9´29"823 (+3,557)
3rd - SPEED (BMW) - 9´40"540 (+17,491)
4th - VUJA (RUF) - 9´34"135 (+21,040)

DADY keeps on the track for a 4th lap, he doesn´t pit, sports medium making the job.

But those on sport softs have to make their first pit stop! It´s USH, SPEED and VUJA going into the pits, busy times for the mechanics changing tires and refueling.



USH leaves the pits, SPEED and VUJA still waiting on the pits whilst TAK comes into the pits also.





VUJA leaves the pit lanes just 3 sec behind SPEED, what a comeback, he is challenging now for the podium.

That was a very good lap from TAK, just 13 sec behind VUJA, quite clear he will fight till the end, that´s the spirit!

M on the other hand is just holding it to the finish, he lacks motivation, all it seems lost for him, but he keeps going, good effort M!

LAP 4

DADY in the lead with worn tires, he will suffer on this lap for sure, but an interesting strategy nonetheless, it might be a 4/3/1 stint, going probably for a Qualifying lap in the last lap!

Sector times almost equal between 2nd, 3rd and 4th drivers, with DADY already struggling for grip.

But oh no, VUJA lost it again at Aremberg, he ends up in the gravel trap, he lost 8 seconds, what a pity. He was pushing very hard no doubt.



DADY saves it in the Karusell, he nearly spins but he receives a penalty for track cutting, he may have lost 5 sec on that one.



So many things happening at the same time, just to recap, DADY in the lead with USH in 2nd place, SPEED in 3rd very close to USH, VUJA is now 4th but just way behind after his error, TAK 5th and M last in 6th place.

DADY is losing too much time on worn tires, that was a risky strategy, he is having difficulties to keep the track on the track, power sliding!



Approaching the end of the lap DADY makes his first pit stop, again for a new set of fresh sports medium tires, USH pass through the finish line to retake the lead, DADY lost a lot of time in the last lap.



SPEED takes second just in front of DADY.

And DADY leaving the pits in 3rd by inches in front of VUJA!

LAP 5

Sun is rising, life is beautiful at Nurburgring. The race is very close, four cars within 30 sec after 4 laps in Hell, not bad at all!

By half distance on this fifth lap the gaps are:

USH (lead), SPEED (+7s), DADY (+19s), VUJA (+28s), TAK (+30s), M (+57s)

SPEED is pushing very hard now, he is just 2 seconds behind USH, will this damage his tires? USH is showing consistency, preserving his tires and avoiding unnecessary slides.





VUJA slips back a bit, still on 4th he cannot keep leaders pace, this race is long, oh yes it is! And here we go again, VUJA goes wide at Pflanzgarten and he loses the car massively, TAK is just on his tail! VUJA tires half gone on his second lap stint!





And no mercy from DADY who overtakes SPEED after the latter makes an error at Schwalbenschwanz, USH got some breathing, will the battle resume soon with DADY? Is going to be close.

SPEED keeps just on DADY´s tail at the long straight, drag race! he overtakes DADY but he loses it at Tiergarten.



But where is DADY? Oh he is just behind SPEED!



Further back VUJA and TAK are giving it all



And where is M? Well he is just at home for some advertising.



By the End of 5th lap:

1st - USH (Ferrari) - 9´12"568
2nd - DADY (Honda) - 9´29"737 (+7,103)
3rd - SPEED (BMW) - 9´17"516 (+10,663)
4th - VUJA (RUF) - 9´22"795 (+30,359)
5th - TAK (FORD) - 9´11"522 (+31,029)

So far the fastest lap of the race is for TAK at 9´11"522, great lap TAK, good determination.

LAP 6

But TAK overshoots the first corner (CASTROL-S) going wide in an attempt to take 4th place, VUJA holds position while TAK has lost precious time. Massive lost for TAK after a splendid comeback, too much pushing makes you error prone at Hell.





M going for his second pit stop for a new set of sport softs tires, will he pit again?

Tire wear once again for USH, SPEED and VUJA, it is going to be a very hard lap in order to avoid any mistake, while DADY is pushing very hard just 5 sec behind USH, the battle resumes!



SPEED losing ground, tires are fading away, less than half of life for these tires.



TAK did not say his last words, he is closing back to VUJA who goes wide again! Will this affect VUJA´s concentration? Will he fight back?



Meanwhile SPEED spins again, the battle for victory is out of reach I'm afraid for SPEED.



So now just two drivers for the victory, USH and DADY, they seem to like each other, almost the whole race racing together hand to hand.



And what about that, this is not an endurance this is just 8 qualifying laps! What an overtake from DADY, bravo! that was a brilliant on the inside at Klostertal, he fakes the outside, USH goes a bit wide and DADY dives to the inside to take the lead! He flies away now, well done DADY.





DADY finishes the 6th lap with some seconds advantage over USH, do you see USH at the back?



DADY goes for another lap without pitting as expected, while USH goes into the pits for his second pit stop, he takes a new set of sport soft, it will be his last stint.

Further back it is clear SPEED will have to pit too as he is experiencing big tire wear now.

By the End of 6th lap:

Fastest Lap for DADY at 9´04"210!

LAP 7

What a surprise! SPEED decides to continue for another lap, is this right? His tires are almost gone, not sure if this is the correct strategy, we will see...



TAK and VUJA also pit, that is like USH a 3/3/2 stint for them, it will be their final pit stop.



As lap continues unsurprisingly SPEED is losing grip, is hell at Green Hell for him.

2 minutes on this lap and USH is already on his tail.



And USH on the inside to take second place at Hatzenbach, that was close but SPEED concedes the place, his tires cannot last any longer.





Now is USH for a hunt against DADY, bust or die! He is 38 sec behind, will DADY pit for a final fast lap or will he saves tires, lower the pace and try to finish on a two stint race? He´s got quite a big margin now on USH.

But look DADY, drift time for him, no, no, you´re not gonna make it till the end burning those tires. Now is clear he will have to pit again, and his lead goes down to 24 sec by Dottinger Hohe, he has lost 12 seconds in half a lap.



SPEED is all over the place, no tires left at all, literally. at Eschbach TAK and VUJA overtake SPEED, not a big surprise I'd say. TAK is now on 3rd while VUJA is 4th.





DADY goes wide at the end of the lap at Tiergarten, precious time is lost there. DADY makes his final pit stop for a set of Sport Soft tires, first time he mount the faster rubber, that will be a qualy lap for sure. His race will be a 4/3/1 stint.



M takes 5th place as he overtakes SPEED at Pflanzgarten. SPEED makes his final pit stop.



By the End of 7th lap:

1st - DADY (Honda) - 9´18"274
2nd - USH (Ferrari) - 9´30"802 (+22,334)
3rd - TAK (FORD) - 9´34"753 (+1´08"462)
4th - VUJA (RUF) - 9´35"249 (+1´13"895)

LAP 8 (LAST LAP)

As USH crosses the start/finish line DADY is still in the pits, USH takes the lead back again! His tires are still in a very good condition, they are on their second lap stint so USH will be able to push to the limit.



DADY leaves the pits, he is on a mission pushing the hell out with sport soft, USH is maintaining the gap quite well as DADY has cold tires at the beginning of the lap.

At 3´30" on this final lap, USH and DADY lap sectors are almost equal, USH can make it!

Still on the GP track TAK makes an error at Veedol chicane, he goes wide and spins, VUJA is 3rd on this last lap.







Half a lap to go, so we will concentrate on the battle for the win, DADY pushing hard while USH is still consistent and fast. 4 minutes in this lap and the gap between 1st and 2nd is now 16 seconds.

Past the Karusell DADY is gaining one second per sector, USH is going safe it seems, avoiding mistakes that would compromise the victory.



Unless USH makes a mistake it seems too late for DADY to close the gap...



And USH wins!!!! He takes the checkered flag; team Ferrari goes wild, what a victory, that was a close call indeed. the Prancing Horse is back, if the F1 team cannot deliver, the road car team will do!



DADY finishes on second place just 5"036 seconds behind after 8 laps at 24h Nurburgring track!

What a race! Climax up to the end.

Great race all drivers, from first to last, a very good effort, no DNFs, that is the commitment from all CRCR League drivers.

Vuja was right, Ush - awesome race report, clearly you've put a load of effort in and it's paid off! Looking forward to the next one sir :)

The league is, as expected, something I thought up while running my public room for quite some time, and is run by me in a private room. You're welcome to join a public session to see if you think the league is for you. :)
 
Hi Vuja, Least and Ushuaia! I have the same nickname of PSN so I think it is difficult to get confused about who I am:). Shame I missed first races of the season, if they were all funny as last night's one:tup:. And about this thread, wonderful job Ushuaia, your report is precise and exciting, plus photos increase the involvement of the reader. I guess it took a long time, but the result is excellent.
