Some of you have noticed in the past few months that I've created some unique avatars using YouTube Videos (like my current one which is from the WRC Rally Finland) and I figured that it would be nice to share how I've been able to do these unique avatars in such a quick time. So, here it goes because it's a simple 10 step process that takes about 20 minutes for first timers, but you can get it done in about 5 minutes once you get the hang of it.
1. Find your YouTube Video and play it.
2. Pause the video when you found your perfect moment to capture it.
3. Hit Print Screen to save the image.
4. Open MS Paint and in the "edit" menu, click on paste to put the image in (it won't work if you just right click!). This will put that whole page up.
5. Crop the picture until you get just the YouTube screen itself. This does involve rotating the picture 90* a couple of times to crop all the white bits out of it.
6. (optional) Add some text to your picture (my one is Welcome to Air Citroen)
7. Resize the picture so it fits within the GTPlanet parameters (100x100 for normal members, 120x120 for Premium members).
8. Save the new image. I prefer to give it a new name incase I want to mess around with the original print screen picture again.
9. Upload the picture through your My GTPlanet - Edit Avatar area using Option 2 - From your PC.
10. Voila.....new custom avatar.
This also applies for any other video playback system (vimeo, etc.) or JPEG's that you may use (as evidenced by my previous Mafia Island avatar).
I hope that this has been informative for everyone and hope to see some more unique avatars in the future. 👍
