Cross compatible DLC

I think the DLC stuff from GT5 logically should be included in GT6 as regular content with the exception of the DLC TCs which imo should become RM options for those existing cars in the game rather than a separate car to purchase and thus not count in the overall car count.

I disagree that that's the most likely scenario (although we don't know yet, this being the first GT with DLC), it would be more logical to expect all GT5 DLC content being simply included as regular content from the start for everyone.

And give a big middle finger to those of us that paid for content, or got promotional content. I don't see that happening. That's the fair way to do it.

What's the difference?

You won't be able to use it in 6 unless you've paid for it.

Why should anyone feel entitled to that content permanently, seemingly just because? There is certainly no reason to assume that DLC content is off limits when the developer is making the sequel, and I'm sure most people don't really care that it's "giving you a big middle finger" when you assumed that risk when you bought it in the first place.

The paid DLC should be off limits to anyone that hasn't paid for it. If you want it, pay for it. It's that simple. Iv'e paid for it regardless so either way if it's in GT6 I'll have it.

Thats not what I was asking.

Whats the difference to gt5?
What will probably happen is anything that is DLC for GT5 will be in GT6, but only if you paid for it, or have the DLC installed. So the Edge Special will be in it, but you can only use it if you have downloaded it. Kind of like how Rock Band stuff was forward compatible. And I bet Like RB3 anything for GT6 won't be backwards compatible.
The DLC contents are in GT5, no matter if you bought them or not.

Unless you're talking about certain a-spec events using dlc tracks or similar.

I have to wonder how you felt about people who bought GT5 XL which came with the game itself and most of the DLC for just $20. Those people payed a much lesser price than those who bought the DLC from PSN. Was that not a big middle finger to people who bought the DLC as soon as it came out and those who bought GT5 at its initial release? Just don't be surprised when all the paid DLC for GT5 is available to everyone who buys GT6. This is essentially the same situation.

It's tough to say if they may or may not. If the tracks are to get a facelift and a major rework for extra features like weather and time change, they may not be included by GT6's launch time, and may come off as DLC.

For the cars, they should be of the same quality, so there's no excuse to not include them in GT6, unless they're greedy. There's no other reason behind it.

Meh, I wouldn't exactly say the same situation. It's a common policy that for those that wait, they get the better value. Sure those who purchased the game early pays a lot more, but like everything else, you're paying to experience it early. It's like how PS3 now has bundles with GT5 with a 500GB harddrive for only $299 compared to those who bought the launch model for $600 with no extra incentive.

That said however, DLC content from GT5 should be standard in GT6. DLC should be content that takes extra effort from developers post development time and release. If the content is already created and ready to go, there should be no reason to charge it in the new game, otherwise we'd have to pay for all the cars and tracks that wasn't included in GT5 (vanilla) if we go by that logic.

LBP GOTY edition carried all of its on disk dlc over to lbp 2 , but only if you had the GOTY edition to begin with.
IF its cross compatible then that's actually good news. seven new locations as opposed to one đź‘Ť * we know two already..*

As Tornado already pointed out, if you buy DLC, you should be aware it isn't on a permanent basis, in fact you basically pay to use content for the next game right now and for the time being and that's all.

You and I (I've bought every DLC available mind you) made the decision to buy GT5 DLC, if you think you're entitled to it automatically becoming GT6 DLC, it might've been wise to consider this (as it wasn't being mentioned anywhere in the PSN store or the GT5 site) before you bought the DLC as then you could've decided whether to wait for GT6 to get it for free or if it's content you can't wait to use right now and are willing to pay for (which you did).

So whether this content is free for all or limited to those who bought GT5 DLC won't change much for us now would it?
We won't we getting that extra GT5 investment back either way (as then you could also argue for a GT6 discount on the basis of already paying for some of its content), so you just want those who decided they could wait for it to be limited/punished until they buy GT5 DLC for GT6 whilst simultaneously limiting certain online possibilities for yourself?

So Teal what you're saying is DLC must remain DLC for all of eternity, it can never go on a disc? As for "If you want it, pay for it" if it's on the GT6 disc we will be, as part of the full package. DLC is premium content that you have the choice of paying for to get it right away. Otherwise you wait for it to appear in the next disc game.

For me is just stupid to pay 5$ (5 euros here) for 5 cars, i don't know if i'm the only one with this opinion, but the dlc's should be cheaper (i would say something like 1$ for 5 cars).
If you guys make the math you are paying about 1/10 of the original game (with more than 200 premium cars) for just 5/6 cars.

I've paid for all the DLC as well, but I completely disagree with you. That would be absolutely ridiculous to not bring in the cars/tracks that were included as DLC in GT5 in GT6 just because people had to pay for it. Let PD include all the cars/tracks that were DLC as part of the standard car/track list and make completely new DLC for GT6.
---------------
I still think that all the cars/tracks that were included as DLC will be part of the launching lineup on GT6. Just look at some of the cars they released. I really don't believe that PD will keep cars like the BRZ, Corvette Stingray, Aventador etc. out of the lineup (or limit it to just those who purchased it previously) just because it was DLC. This is a new GT and I'm almost certain that they will have them all in at launch (minus the TC's possibly).

Same here. Also If I remember correctly Kaz said something before any of the DLC to the effect that some of GT6 content would become available as DLC for GT5 along the way which basically means that he told us in advance this is what would happen. In other words we had an option to buy some GT6 content for GT5 as DLC but that content was always planned to go into the GT6 release.

This is also common practice with Forza and well as the practice of releasing one last version that includes all of the DLC. The One thing that Forza did which made several people angry was release what was supposed to be exclusive pre-order content later as DLC at a reduced price making it non exclusive any longer.
