While digging out GT2 this morning for a quick round of something, I happened upon the Toyota MR2 Spyder (TRD) in my garage. Seeing this car made me reminisc. This car, was, whilst too heavy to actually race, the most fun car to just take around a track like Grand Valley and just act like you're cool. No fastest laps, no pulling max G's. Just maintaining a steady pace around the track. So, I want to know, does anyone else have these fond memories of cruising?

Going back to the Sunday Cup in a crappy Starlet, RX-7, or Protegé does the trick for me. :)

aaahhh i thought i was the only one who did this! i love to just cruise around. my favorite track for it is seattle full course probly. i like to just drive it around at a medium to slow speed and do the occasional burnout or donuts :dopey:

Tahiti Maze. Doesn't matter what car, but the Mine's Lancer Evo V is sort of fun. I like to actually stop and turn around, and explore odd little parts at the edge of the track. I've done the same up Pike's Peak a few times, too.

Me too. In fact whenever I get on a new track I always pick a slow car and explore it. Even in Gt2 there's so much detail. I'll drive a little, stop, put it in reverse, look around. Not only do you notice little details, but this helps me get a better look at how corners are shaped.

I think I should also mention a couple cars that I found to be deathtraps for just having fun driving around:
BMW 840Ci: Too much understeer, not enough pep.
Subaru SVX: Just...unfun. I can't place my finger on it, but this car is just not a fun car to use. Race it and it's fine. Cruise in it and...not so much.

Understeer ? I don't know, I find it fun to drift :)
double brake while turning, swing the back, counter steer .......
lift off the throttle, turn right, turn left, press the throttle, swing the back ......

I remember that BMW being pretty agile despite the weight (only raced it a few times, tho..and that was months ago). I remember I took it to the Muscle Car challenge, ran it with an entirely stock suspension, tires, and brakes, and it still out handled the muscle cars! Tho, that's not saying much since a tricycle could out-handle them.

The first time I raced an SVX was in GT1. I really dug the way it converts power into speed so efficiently. I mean, it's heavy and not super-strong, yet its one of those cars in which I conquered a bunch of races purely cuz it corners without tire-spin. I haven't raced them much in GT2...too many other cars to try...
