Custom Drift Track Project - The Thread

Twitcher, the size issue is not a problem, so don´t worry. It wasn´t hard to reduce the size to make it fits in the database.

About the idea of use more than 1 account to share more tracks is completly fine, since you visit your alternative accounts weekly to accept new friend requests. Im doing it since i wan´t to share more than one track, and if i had more accounts, i would like to share even more tracks.

As soon as someone holds "Toscana Mixed Trouble" or "Eifel Hairpinista" to be the official "track curator", ill be able to bring up a forth one.
 
Made a one lap video of that teamorange track I was talking about earlier. I don't really feel like sharing it off my other account, cause I hardly ever go on there. I'm hopeing someone is willing to download it from me, and then have their psn listed in the OP as the track holder.

I also did this cause I was kind of board and felt like making another video :lol:

I downloaded that track earlier from your account Twitcher, great track indeed i love that part at 2:07 quite challenging corners in that track :) I will make some video of a great touge like track i made.

Guys, im watching the new entries, and im figuring how to put them in the DATABASE even outside of the regular paterns. I don´t really know how to fix your entries without a map picture, for least.

Please follow the DATABASE models and edit your entries if possible. Then will be a lot easier to put you in there. I would like to add every tracks in the DATABASE instead to make people turn pages and pages after diferent creations. So please... make our life easier, ok?

It´s not any hard to grab a decent picture, you dont need to take a snap from your TV. Check the item 3 of this tutorial:

I want to share my own custom tracks, what is necessary to make it properly in this thread?
1. A drift track that worth to be shared, because many people here will try it and judge i´ts true potential.
2. Keep your shared track in your "shared tracks", ingame.
3. Logon with your PSN account on www.gran-turismo.com, go to the "shared tracks" space and get a caption of the map from the track that you´re sharing. In this same place you will get informations such as number of corners, elevation, and so on...
4. Record 1 lap video, preferentialy using the hood or chase camera.
5. Post in this thread, and i will edit the third post, where the database will stay. Just follow the exemple from the posts in the database, and you will make my life easier. Commentaries are welcome.

Sorry to anyone who added me to get a track but I haven't been online due to an injury. All FR's have now been accepted and you can get the track any time.
 
Could I post a track here if I have no way to take video of it? I've been hosting a room for the last two days in the open lobby, and most people who drive my track say it's pretty savage.

Yes, you can. But it won´t be any helpfull since there is no how to see how really is a track only by looking to a map. And following the rules, it won´t be in the Database.

You can make your entry now and edit with video in future (you can make it by yourself, even poorly, or ask to somebody else record it and upload it). When you have a valid entry, let me know and then you will be in the database.
 
I'll see what I can do for a video then. It might not be the best, but I'll give it a shot.

Edit: T_T my phone takes the worst videos in the world. . .

I made this course after seeing LazyLiquid's post about custom tracks, so I figured I would try my hand at the editor. Well this is the track that came of it! It is a track that has a few spread out sections, but also some strange off camber sections that feel bigger than they really are. Watch out for all the blind turns over the hills!

P.S. I embarrassed myself on this video... messed up more than once lol

God, its hard to figure what is going on... can you record it again trying to get closer to the screen? There is a lot of free room around the monitor that could be away from the footage.

For exemple, my cellphone records only 4:3, and i still try to fit everything as closer as possible.

lazylkd is only an alt to be able to use the US PSN.

I try Eifel Hairpinista 5 33, awesome track !!!! very difficult for me but still very funny :D spend a few hours last night !!!! thanks for share to us mate.... regards.

Cool looking track. You need to reread the OP though. We need to see a one lap video of your track before it gets listed with the others.

I liked the layout too... but i don´t know if its in Toscana, Eifel, or Whatever. Also i don´t know how its is live, if its fluid as it looks in the map, how is the elevations, or even if there is any banked trap anywhere.

Thats why 1 lap replay is important, even if its a section based track. You´re not forced to follow the OP rules, but if you don´t follow the same patern as the others, its not possible to stick it up in the Database post.

I wont ask you to edit and remove your entry. But be sure that your entry (and any other) as not following the rules, wiill remains in the pages and can be harder to be found in any future.

But you have all time you need to edit your entry following the rules, then ill stick your track in the Database.
 
Maybe the best way to database is to create an account and upload all tracks to there..

On a weekly bassis cycle the tracks.. Anyone interested in this post should look at what TCR have done.. There Track creator racing and been at this game of track creating for some time... They really know how to host custom tracks.. They know how to setup a Track share system and more importantly create a decent track... Its really not a 5min job to click a few settings.. The tracks need extensive testing to get accurate feedback..

If you started a track creator club so to speak like TCR have done ? Create the new account I have suggested this would be a good start for people to participate in your excellent idea... Sign up and share tracks...

TCR have a few accounts setup for track sharing and Ryan over @ GTA has an excellent Lobby work round that was for this very thing..

It might be beneficial to have a look what others have done before that works along these lines..

It might even be a good idea to branch a bit futher than the planet here and tap into that big picture for greater attraction and more track submissions...
 
The current system works fine, you just PM the owner. No point waiting four weeks for a track you want to try!

Only better way if there WAS a single account we all added, that had all the tracks and we could request them from?

The main problem is that every GT5 account have only 1 shareable track by time, and a limited friendlist space. Another problem is that the game don´t have any feature to create an online database with rating system and ASAP download. I hope we can have something like this on GT6, cose i don´t feel like it will come as future update for GT5 already.

What RiFTW0RkS suggested also can works, but also have it own weak side. Right now we have only 7 tracks, and there are at least 3 or 4 tracks that are very popular and stills not in the game, because nobody made an entry. But lets supose that we had then only 10 tracks (witch is a small number), it would be a "10 weeks" cycle, and i don´t think that nobody here would be pleased to wait so much time.

But if this idea comes up and be endorsed by the GT5 drifting community, i dont mind to let the "Custom Drift Track" project die. I just wish good luck to who decide to start it from the scratch, collect all tracks, make videos and valid entries of them all, and menage the cycle and all the requests.

The "Custom Drift Tracks" is going very slow because its not easy to record a video, and i understand that. But without a proof, witch can not be a silly map picture, its not possible to realize if its a track where the creator wasted 1 hour or 5 minutes of tests.

I just started this thread for 2 reasons:
- I love to drift on custom tracks more than the original ones.
- There is an enormous, huge, monstrous prejudice about custom tracks on the drifting community.
- I alwas felt that this community needed something like this, but nobody wanted to embrace the challenge. I didn´t wanted it be me, but nobody else would carry the responsability.

Imo you need to Market the concept... And GODfreyGT5 thats kind of what I was on about..
