A question, one of my cars has a 4 speed CVT gearbox, but will it still be CVT if i buy the Fully customizeable transmission? And does the CVT gear in gt5 act like a real cvt gearbox??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but CVTs don't have gears like in auto and manuals.

There is no shifting in drive, just press the pedal and the cvt adjusts accordingly.

As for the tranny upgrades, I don't think you can upgrade cars with CVTs.

It will become an ordinary gearbox. Also, cars with special drivetrains (Honda Dualnore, hybrids etc) are effected. i.e. when you install a Full Customized gearbox into the Dualnote, it loses isles electric motors.

Installing a fully customizable transmission into a Honda Insight LS '09 is actually a great idea. For one, you get 5 gears, secondly the driver gains the ability to paddle shift to change gear just like on the real life Honda Insight, which has a 5 speed paddle shift tranny as an option, and it greatly improves acceleration and top speed. Tune it right, and you can easily annihilate the 400PP, even the 500PP races with this car!

The Prius TC has everything for race mod, but it is still one gear only: Drive. I though CVT's couldnt be swapped out. I will just check all the cars. The Honda CR-Z is a manual stock.

As a previous owner of a Rover 25 1.8i CVT, I can say that the Prius' CVT system is fairly accurate, right up to the point where it loses a bar of battery and revs to maximum a bit too easily. This in real life would only happen at maximum power. As for the Hondas Jazz and Insight, their CVTs are hopeless. At 30mph they stick to about 4,000rpm, which is just not right. It's not as if CVTs have a sports mode, either, so PD can't get away with claiming that.

By the way, Continuously Variable Transmission gearboxes don't have gears as such, they just rev according to how much power and torque is being put out. So there's no such thing as a 4-speed CVT. It's just a CVT.

Alright, I checked out the Insight and add the full gearbox. Yup it does so much better than stock. Works very good with its powerband.

Thanks for the tip!!

Why does CVT's have gearing at all? i mean, a scooter has no gears, just the cvt active all the time and no netural gear, but cars? My dads uncle has a Audi A4 with a CVT, it can shift between gears and no gears (if the rpm is at 2000 f.ex the car will increase speed slowly without increasing the RPM since the cvt constantly changes gear ratio, but the gears, are they really gears? or are they just prefixed CVT ratio's without having any gears and clutch? I will try clutching when i get my G27 mounted again... but the CVT with gears make me wonder how it works, since the CVT does not have a gear other than drive (?)

No they're not gears. It has 'preferred' rpms for power and fuel efficiency.

Here.

Some cars in real life that have a CVT transmission, has the option to put it in a "standard" mode. It will rev out at a certain "gear" then you up shift or downshift as necessary.

...Also known as a "manual mode," with "virtual" gears.

Example:

So slow and dragged out... but then again, what automatic transmission isn't?

Tested with the Acura DN-X (rebadged Dualnote), and no. Apparently, it maintains its electric motors, as seen on the power graph where the noted peak power is somewhere above the actual peak of the curve. The DN-X also lacks gear whine, so it's one of the few cars in my garage to have a Fully Customizable Transmission.
