Well second race was a bit different. One or two dirty move made, but not many. The driving was harder though, you know that level where a youtuber would call a C rated driver dirty, but in an A+ room would say "there was a bit of contact, but it's all good". Personally I'd say it was a bit much, but no one was really doing anything wrong, just a little too aggressive, apart from the couple of obviously dirty move.
Still it was an enjoyable race, unlike the rage inducing pens we were getting at the beginning of the week. Still dubious about this, but tomorrow will be the biggest test, will people race or abuse the system in FIA?

How it started.

How it finished

So I did another race C after watching some of Basic Ollie's live stream this evening. Pretty much the best race C I have had all week. The start wasn't great as I got pit manoeuvred on the first corner by a French driver (who didn't get a penalty ) and once I was reset I was dead last (after starting 12th).

I was more than a bit pissed off but nothing I can do but get on with the race. Was a bit of a messy race but that did allow me to catch up again before the end of lap 2. As folks were fighting I decided to try an undercut so pitted early on lap 5 and it worked beautifully. I think got 6 places back just from that including my best French pal when folks started coming in on lap 6 & 7.

I got some good passes and benefitted from some driver mistakes the biggest of which was 3rd & 4th not using all the tyres so my fight back to 5th on the line turned out to be a 3rd and my one and only race C podium of the week.

Don't think I am going to do anymore race C over the weekend and considering how my week has gone I am pretty happy with that result. Also no matter how bad your race start is don't quit as you never know what might happen in the rest of the race.

Riiiiiiiiight. I've gotten penalties in some places where only 1 wheel touched the curb and the other 3 were all 'in bounds' according to what is suggested. I just know that pushing it there are ones that the game assumes are cut penalties when they aren't a cut on a different corner and I'll just get them if I get them. The strange line through the second mulsanne chicane and the penalty for losing time running semi wide at arnage are ones that still meas with me.

27 cars(if someone wants to run the Supra to post a time, feel free to do so), one initial lap.

I have to point out I dislike the Atenza even more. Surprised by the time I did, but I don't think I can run that time for three laps. Too much effort. One of my favorites, is a favorite no longer.

SLS sounds good, but felt slow. Another car that feels like it's got an anchor behind it.
As for the Slophy. Sorry, but couldn't believe it was slower than the 4C... meanwhile, the 4C felt good. A cool little corner slicer.

As for the P1 Megane. Ridiculous.
Biggest surprise was how good the Veyron felt. Didn't have to wrestle it. Just load up and drive.

With all FFs in the top 10. I figured as much will happen come Monday. As a side, the F-Type was P1 until the Megane. Felt good and super fast.

Mustang has the goods again. Point and shoot.👍

Top 20 with updated times. Cayman, Evo and Atenza got booted out the Top 20. I'll run the top 10 for the week.

@Groundfish

Hey, was it you that said you use ABS weak? Because I just tried it and shaved half a second off my record...on my very first practice lap of the day!!! I am 40 years old so it usually takes a half hour to warm up.

I was under the impression that the way to go is ABS default (I've seen youtubers say this) so I'm just wondering what's up. Does it vary from car to car? I am using the Lexus group 2 at the moment.

It is totally car/driver dependent. You gotta mess about with it.
Default in race is the way to go 95 percent of time because dirty air, slipstream plus braking in slipstream plus battling. It really depends imo. I use it in race but only on certain cars and combos.
For example Mt Panorama NOWAY stay default it’s too bumpy and too tricky. Interlagos I use weak sometimes in qual but it makes t1 very difficult.
You really gotta play around with this and learn to control the rate you get into braking and the rate of releasing it because it’s different for diff cars and turns etc...In race DEFAULT 90 percent of time here.
I mostly just do gr3/4.
It’s good to use the TOYOTA2000gt car.
Watch the nose dive under braking the weight shift (default settings) it’s a great lesson in driving physics.
You brake the car nose dives, you release brake it levels out. Imo gr3 is mostly about braking coming in then the right rate of releasing and the car kinda suction cups to the tarmac.
If you get those inputs right the brake then steering in and coming off brake right the car will be on rails. Like a suction cup when you time the coming off brake rate right with the right steering AND you’re right in the right line in the track where there’s ever so slight banking in the turn.

I was just in a crazy b race I was blasted turn 2 then fought. I shared it up...

Nice, man, thanks it adds up. Good thing I saw this before my race. The dirty air thing makes sense.

And how do I fund your vid? Aleays looking to watch good racing.

In game if you go discover-replays—search-search tag is “tpc”

I didnt share that one for it’s good racing though. Shared it because it was a crazy dirty race lol.
Right now there’s a bunch of b lap hot laps in diff cars that are mine and tons of great content from the good guys of tpc.

I just got ten seconds into the Mustang race and and had to check it wasn't Burnout Paradise. :D

I warned you :). I stopped after that. Tough for me on alt when I’m way underranked like now. Short tempered.

I have been saying loud and clear in this thread and the penalty thread that this was going to happen. There's no such thing as a contact penalty now, I saw ZERO in 9 races at RBR, RBR of all places! It's wild west.

There is contact penalties but you've got to hit them way off the track, go off just a little, or be spun in the middle of the track and it does not care. However lower dr drivers can still be forgiven these too and the penalty is 2 seconds, which is not big enough and I've never seen anything else since the update. :banghead:

:gtplanet::cheers:

Of course PD messed up the penalties. Didn’t expect anything else.
I love Gr.1 and I love Le Mans, took the Toyota out for a lap on Meds and it feels really good. Porsche curves are gonna be deadly with worn Hards though. A short burst of braking and a downshift was enough in practice. Obviously I’m worried about penalties in race, I’d rather have a super strict system than bumper cars.

 14/14 to 8/14. Didn't make a single pass. A/S room. Players just too aggressive on turns and clipping the track edges. running off the road. Made up two places on the last lap, due to two players ahead grabbing track edge and spearing off perpendicular to barriers. One speared off at TFB. The other speared off coming out of the final turn, but right across from pit exit. Straight across us and into the pit wall.

My DR is tanking due to idiots. The racing is closer and better, but people know they can touch your rear quarter in a fight and get past, plus divebombing. Tried 3 races at DTG to try and raise my DR. Plenty of battles ahead and made places due to people going off. However last lap there was always an idiot gunning for me. I seemed to have a target on my back. Race 1 this happened.

The Frenchman got a bad run out of the chicane which got me close. I didn't intend to make a move at the hairpin but realised I was going to hit them so moved out. They obviously were unaware of their surroundings. Due to this and other battles which hadn't gone their way they decided to dive up my inside and continue turning left into me spinning me out. They too spun and quit in the end. Left me to finish DFL.
Nice to see @MARLEY_75 again.

Changed to the 911 and it races really well here.
Race 2 started o.k. I got a run on a Spaniard ahead and they didn't like that and tried to put me off the track. I squeezed past and at the hairpin they punt me clean off. They do get a penalty. I manage to recover and find myself in 8th on the last lap. Nope, the guy behind dives in from way back and punts me off at the hairpin. End up 12th whilst he got away scott free with my 8th place.

I manage to shave just under half a second from my Qualy time before the next race. O.k. that might put me ahead of some carnage. Nope.
Race 3 started 5th. (Finally on the welcome screen this week outside A) Several Italians are bashing each other all over the track. I swap positions all over and the guy in the M3 is constantly diving at the hairpin. I know he is doing this so give him room. He does go off at the first part of Istanbul and I gain 4th. Right last lap just keep it on the track for a good result. Finally. Nope I run to close over the corner in the right after the hairpin. I get a 0.5 penalty and this messes me up. I then run wide through Istanbul and the car wants to spin. I control it but it tankslaps and I control it. Only for it to tankslap again and this time it goes round. I recover and cross the line 12th again.

This really frustrated me most of all as I avoided the idiots this time to be undone by the one behind my wheel.
I was going to quit but decided to try a race A as I had somewhat got an affinity with the race and found it to be quite clean the last few days.

Qualified 5th. Got a daemon start and found myself 3rd off the line before the dives put me back to 5th. Turn 4 and someone goes wide. Gain a place. Stay here for a few laps. 2nd and 3rd are in a close fair race. Then lap 4 one goes wide at turn 4 and I gain their place. Up to 3rd. Nice. I don't seem to have the pace of the top 2. However 2nd outbrakes themselves at turn 1 on the penultimate lap. I grab 2nd and stay there for the rest of the race.
Had a couple of side by side moments with another Brit. egobreed. Very fair racing, so shoutout to them.
Might try a few more Race A's before the 2pm nations start. Otherwise not many points will be on offer.

Got in 4 racec at RBR last night. 2 on my main, 2 on my alt. First race I started P2, finished P2. Went out on hards. It was pretty clean. I dropped a few positions during that first stint, fell back to 4th and had a battle with fifth. He got inside on the main straight and I had to give up the spot, but I had lots of speed on him coming out of T1. He swerve blocked me, but was more worried about the inside, and I got alongside outside of T2. I left at least 1 1/2 car widths at the apex, but once past the apex he pushed me wide, over the curb, and I lost 2 more spots. Pitted on lap 6 for mediums, had a good out lap in 10th, and 2 laps later found myself back in 2nd with 3 seconds on third and the leader 10 seconds ahead.
Second race had me starting P13 in an A/A+ room. I was one of 3 B drivers. That was a bit dirtier. I found myself battling back to 15th, and there were some..."incedents". I finished in 11th.
Went to my alt to race from the back. Had 2 dirty drivers that caused me some problems, but got clear and made it up to 3rd, up 14 spots. I then entered another to race from the back, and proceded to space out and crossed the finish on my first (warmup)lap, putting down a 23.1. Bummer. I started P3. The leaders were NOT playing fair. I got pitted once, punted once, and had 2 penalties caused by others. I should mention my alt is C/C right now (from last week), but I plan on getting back to B/S by the end of the weekend. Once I pitted, and put on mediums, I thought I would be fine. Later stops left me with the lead, and I was up by 10 seconds at one point, but a lap 12 spin (trying for a laptime...I know) left me less than 3 seconds in the lead. Held it to the line for the win.
It was a fun night with some clean, side by side racing. I say it was better than the old penalty system. At least bad penalties don't ruin a race. I'll deal with the bad drivers myself.

Tried to enter a few daily C's this week but have been busy and got disconnected in both lobbies, maybe it was a sign lol.

Might have time for some racing this weekend finally and get to try out the new penalty system or lack there of.

Well, there should be no debate about tire strategy for the upcoming LeMans race.
I just did a test, and the results were absolutely conclusive.
I did a custom race with next week's race C settings. I borrowed the Porsche 962 from @Dairyworker.

I went 5 laps on mediums, then stopped to get a set of hards for the last lap. I entered the pits with a 13 second lead, and exited 11 seconds behind the leader! I am not certain that the length of pit stops is the same in custom races as it is in Sports Mode. I heard they made the Sport Mode pit stops longer, so probably.

Look at how long the pit stop took.

I then did a race on hards for all 6 laps. Tire wear was fine. None of my tires were more than half worn at the end.
The overall race time was 23 seconds faster than using mediums and stopping. Lap times were pretty close.
Driving 6 laps on mediums and taking the penalty won't be worth it, either.

Well I think that's it for me. Another race where 3 people took me by driving dirty, yes I could sink to their level but honestly where's the fun in winning by underhanded methods? It's like using cheat code to complete a game I've never understood the point. FIA sucked too. pity as I don't have a decent driving game on PS4, might have to get GT4 out or even TOCA. Might try coming back on Wednesday and try and repair my ratings before giving FIA a last chance. Or since this is the only thing I'm playing online and PS plus ends tomorrow might just let it slide and use the money elsewhere.

lol

those pit lane guys could have eaten a whole peking duck with pancakes whilst they waited for you to come in
Will a no stop be viable though?

The megane is a big surprise. It was usually the slowest FF and it was nurfed about the same as the RCZ.

No surprise on the F-Type.

Your times are very fast overall. You are going to have a good week my friend.

I did lot of experimenting and it turns out it may have not been the ABS so much as I wasn't stabbing the brake pedal anymore. It makes a massive difference.

If you are into technique and how to race and stuff, I reccomend this book. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0760340501/?tag=gtplanet-20

It’s basically all I’ve gone on and it took me from beginner to A plus driver.
98 percent of what I say came from the author Ross Bentley
