Damn this Prius seasonal event is a pain in the behind

Especially in grand valley. :banghead:

Tuned my car up to as much as I can.

That's the problem.
Don't over turn, you'll lose momentum.

I thought it was fairly easy since I was first place before the fourth lap.

Found out that you can override the rev speed:D
Just keep mashing the throttle when you reach 60-70KM/h+ and the rev will fire up and stay at the same rev no matter what speed:D

I felt dirty after driving that car, what a piece of cr@p. All i can say i the first corner is the only one you have to brake heavily for. the rest you can just back off for and you will be fine, i won by 13 seconds

I'm going to give it a try tonight.
Any set up/tune info that could be helpful?

Add some power - you don't have to do all the power-adding mods - and CUT THE WEIGHT. Put on soft racing tires ($36,000).

I'm a hack as a driver, and I had first place on the second lap, and never looked back. Slicks, minimum weight, and about 120hp will do it. I didn't even touch any of the adjustments, nor did I do any adjustable suspension, trans, etc. Get in, get out, and win quick. And make more money than you spend on that POS car. :)

I found I could get away with 10K worth of upgrades (not sure how effective SRF is on a car that weedy though). I bought Comfort Soft Tyres, ECU, Racing Intake and Sports Exhaust Cat. Plus an Oil Change of course.

Change toe out to 0.20 so it doesn't skid to much when you encounter corners.

I was like OMG! This is freakin hard even though I've heard it was easy!!! I had it already upgraded except for soft racing tires then I put them on and easily went from my best being 9th to 1st!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Yep using soft tires all the way now!!

soft tire and use brakes while using gas (I know its counter intuitive, but it'll keep up your rev while slowing down)

This one was ridiculously easy. Just get racing soft tires and don't waste money on anything else. I beat the next car by something like 25 seconds.

I golded the others within 2 tries (mostly stock FTW!), but haven't done this one and probably won't. I just can't bring myself to drive a Prius in a racing game (or any other time for that matter), even for a bunch of cr and xp. It's like I'm afraid someone will look through the net at my PS3 and see me in a FREAKIN' PRIUS.

Upgrading the tires may do the trick. Sports or racing depending on your driving skills. If thats not enough try losing some weight. Engine upgrades are useless. Remember it's a hybrid car. The small combustion engine is only used to charge the batteries. The wheels are driven by an electro motor.

Incorrect. The combustion engine works in parallel with the electric motor to drive the car. This is actually simulated....when you run out of battery power in GT5 (usually on the second lap in this event) you can hear the 4 cylinder (or is it three?) work much harder.

i already had my car fully tuned as me and my mates drag race the electric cars when we get bored of racing serious cars. raced a 50's fiat 500 stock too lol.

with all the upgrades its very easy. id say you could get away with sport softs and just a few engine upgrades and maybe some light weight reduction.

dont fully tune the car i found this event very boring after the 2nd lap but i wasnt going to buy another prius just for this event as i hate the car.

Won this race with all of the HP upgrades, sports shocks and the first two lightweight stages with no problems. Also sports soft tires. Makes me want to do more hybrid racing, it was boring as hell but it had its charm.

As has been said, a set of racing softs should be more than enough for you to take this race by a pretty large margin. (In fact, that seems to be the case for ALL of this round's challenges.)

If you'd like to spend a little less money, a few of the cheapest engine mods (ECM, converter, filter) along with Sports - Soft will do the trick as well though you've gotta work a little harder at it.

I'm sure a great driver could win this with no tuning on Sports - Soft. I'm able to consistently take 2nd with just the tires, but can't do any better than about 4.5 seconds behind. I swapped for Race - Soft and walked away with it.

The key, mentioned above, is smoothness and knowing where the racing line is giving you bad advice. I know it's very helpful when you don't know a track, but you should never consider it more than a general guideline. There are very often times where it's telling you to brake when you don't need to. This track, in this car, has several of them. Learn where you can just let off the throttle to get thru a corner instead of braking (almost every corner) and try to take as big and sweeping of a line as possible. With the lack of acceleration that this thing has you need to concentrate more on keeping your speed through the corners than taking the shortest route. (That's generally true of most racing lines, but it's even more important in this case.)

I'd like to try it with the stock car first and then if it is as hard as I hear maybe I'll add some tyres. I want a challenge but a Prius? Come on!

What are you talking about? It's so easy and boring.

Sports soft.
ECU
Racing Filter

That's honestly all you need. Just drivee a bit more agressively and rev the car like no other.

I used ss, ecu and stage 1 weight reduction. Easy win! Try not to brake too much, you can just lift off on most corners to get through no problems.

I added the ECU and Sports Mediums ans basically never brake aside form the first turn, i took first place in the tunnel on the last lap.

Protip, no seasonal event counts toward your cars mileage. Just thought that would be interesting to know.

I put on sports softs, and an ecu...so pretty cheap upgrade (to an existing prize car).

Won easily. I should have tried it stock...but I figured since I'm not very good, I'd need the help.
