I'm so mad right now.... I need to calm myself. *taking deep breaths*

1 week ago, I started a new game. I wanted to play it yesterday, so I loaded it then I got the message ''Data corupted'' thing. Ok, I thought, i start a new one.
No worries...

I spent whole last night doing the liscense tests over again. Done. I went to bed. This morning, I got the same message! This happens 2 times in a row!
I don't know what's wrong, but this have never happened before.

Is it my memory card which is ****ed up? It might be it because it wouldn't save it yesterday, so I had to put it in and out to make it work. Should I get a new one?

Any kind of help appreciated. I want to play GT2 so badly....

I would assume that it probably is :(

PS1 or PS2? New memory card or old one? Official card or 3rd party make? Is it doing it to any other games?

PS1. Old Memory card. 3rd party make (I guess). No it only does it to GT2.
It never happened before...

:(

This has happend to me before--It's your memeory card. Get a new one, preferably from Sony. I know this sucks and they probly cost a bit of money up where you are, and it sucks supporting a giant corporation instead of a 3rd party one...but this is the way to go.

Even new cards are rare? I'm sure you could always order one from Sony or at least go on eBay....tho that could be risky, too.

Yeah, don't buy a PS2 card. You can play PS1 games on PS2 but you can only save on PS1 cards.

I actually did a backup save on the PS2 memory card once. So when my data got corupted I copied the data from the PS2 memory card over to the PS1 memory card. It worked :dopey: But I deleted the backup since I wanted to do a restart.

I'd love to know how you managed that as Sony themselves (in the PS2 manual) clearly state that you can't save Playstation saves to a PS2 memory card.

The two formating methods are totaly different.

I've had the same issues with data corruption in GT2. Sorry to hear that it happened to you too. I had been using a 3rd party mem. card myself, but after switching back to the official Sony one, all has been well since.

Best of Luck.

You just copy the GT2 data to the PS2 memory card. Just copy.
Then, if your data gets corupted or so, you'll just have to copy it from the PS2 memory card to the PS1.
I didn't mention saving it.

:dunce: 👍

Third party memory cards (especially used ones) are great when you buy them because they're so much cheaper. But you always buy them knowing that one day...it can happen :(

I have done a simular thing so that I could download the game save to my laptop. Works fine, never tried loading the save from the card but I suspect it won't work.

I think mine is starting to go. Sometimes when I turn the PS2 on, it doesn't recognise the card and no matter how many times I turn it on/off pull the card out etc, that session it won't recognise it. Next time, maybe a day or so later, works fine. It's a shame cause it's a 4 page card with all my GT game and replays on it.

I've got a memory card made by Sony, matter of fact, and I bought it used for like 3 bucks (I guess you'd say 3 quid or something in England, huh?) Anyways, my PS2 won't recognize it unless I physically hold the card up (push it upwards) while loading. And the weird thing is, after that initial load, I can save on it and reload all I want.
