YSSMANGoshen (sp?) doesn't have it to build a car like that right now. Of course, you would say "But it would sell really well!" and to that I would say "Think of the development costs, and consider how long it would be untill we have a production version. By that time, you might not want a 2+1 sports car..."
So, Mazda, right? Man, if GM hadn't been so stupid they would have released the Saturn Sky as a coupe.OnikazeThe first company to get their heads out of the "Kids like FWD crap" train of thought will win a lot of market share and loyalty.
Actually, if they made it sit on the FM platform, the dev. costs would be next to nothing. The FM has more or less already been paid for, and the only problem would be making it a shape that would actually sell. They could put the Sentra SER Spec-V motor in it and sell it like that. It would basically then be like a Solstice coupe.YSSMAN"Think of the development costs, and consider how long it would be untill we have a production version. God, that would be sweet. How about that new sports car, I think they named it "Kabura"? I wonder if that car's more affordable than RX-8. I think that car's looks is right up there with RX-8, if not better.OnikazeIf the RX-8 could be had with a 4 banger for less than $20k, it would sell like hot cakes.
homeforsummerActually, Datsun is coming back fairly soon. Just not in the U.S. And with this:
A Qashqow?
I wonder when they crossover will fall out of fashion.
Is that related to the topic at hand? The vehicle above is a supermini, not a crossover.
The Datsun Go looks like Nissan took the Micra and made it about 5 times worse. It should really have been called the Datsun Stop.
From LeftLaneNews.com,
A new Nissan sedan prototype has been caught undisguised in Russia during cold weather testing. Though unnamed, it is likely the next addition to Nissan's low-cost Datsun brand for developing nations.
According to the Russian website Wroom, the new sedan appears to be based on the Lada Granta. The Granta, along with its hatchback sibling the Kalina, was co-developed by AvtoVAZ and Renault. The Renault-Nissan Alliance owns a 25 percent stake in the Russian car company, and is rumored to be considering a full takeover of AvtoVAZ's parent company Lada later this year.
The front-engined, front-wheel-drive compact would likely share the 1.6-liter four-banger found in the Granta. Measuring 168 inches long by 67 inches wide and 59 inches tall, it's about the size of a Toyota Yaris sedan.
The design is a bit more upscale than the Lada Granta. Its front fascia is dominated by a wide version of Datsun's trademark hexagonal grille, supplemented by lower air intake scoops that are somewhat sportier than what one would normally find in this segment. The rear deck, likewise, has just a hint of spoiler molded into the trunklid and a strip of chrome trim to set it apart from its competition.
The unnamed sedan would be the third model in the revived Datsun brand's portfolio, joining the GO hatchback and GO+ wagon released last year.
