Can't believe it. I figured he had at least a couple more albums in him.

He changed music for decades. His impact won't disappear any time soon.

I hadn't heard about the cancer. But he kept kicking 'til the end. I've got some albums to listen to tomorrow.

So gutted. :(

Loved his older albums and his move/game career too.

Never was a big fan of his music to be perfectly honest, however that doesn't change the fact that he was one of the most influencial musicians of our time and his impact on the music industry was huge to say the least.

R.I.P. David Bowie!

Aw, what? That's a sad day.

Farewell Mr. Bowie. You were magnificent.

I believe I shall be rewatching Labyrinth tonight in tribute.

He just released a new album too.

Most awful news but at least we can rejoice in his music that was so varied and of high quality.

I still remember the time when I had a "little China girl".

He was the Star Man in so many ways.

Sad news, wasn't a fan of everything he did, but still a great loss to the music industry.

The first record I ever bought was Space Oddity, way back in 1969, and his music has accompanied me all through my life.
RIP David.

Goodbye, Man who fell to Earth. You sure had a unique way of looking at life.

The world of Entertainment has lost another star.

Shocked to say the least. His musical legacy is one that runs deep and will outlast most.

Me and a friend who'd just started getting into Bowie's back catalogue were discussing his works the other day. The prospect of future albums also came up, but alas.

Another star gone shortly after their birthday. At least cancer can't claim his legacy.

RIP

About time !!! No i mean what a loss ,one of the most outstanding artists, He Will live on for years to come with timeless tracks ....rip

I never cared for Bowie much, but it's hard to argue how much impact he had on the music world.

R.I.P.:(

This is getting silly now. Yet another legend taken away from us. R.I.P David.

Sadly I only see it picking up pace as lots of the rock legends from the 60's and 70's are getting up there in age and didn't exactly look after their health when they were young.:nervous:

Sadly you're right. They are all eventually going to go but when it's a few of them at once it's harder to take.

The only comfort is that they will always be around in some form and that they survived the drug filled '70s and '80s.

Very sad news.

For an artist of such outstanding output and massive influence, he seemed remarkably humble and understated - almost the polar opposite of his various stage personas.

Bowie's influence was a great deal more personal to me than most other artists... discovering Bowie's back catalog is like a right of passage and his music often struck a chord in a way that few others could achieve. So many Bowie tracks hold a special significance to me - he was far more than a mere rock musician.

RIP Messrs Jones, Stardust, Sane, Jack, Duke and Bowie

I find it incredible to feel such loss when I never knew him or met him - it's a tragedy when he should have been able to create so much more.

His new album is great, just as I expected. The track "Lazarus"... well, it's difficult to listen to once you know what he knew when he was building the album.

RIP.

Out of everything I've seen posted, I think this sums it up for me too. I didn't buy my first Bowie album until I was 20, but he had always been there with me, as my Dad was a fan, seeing him play Torquay Town Hall with the Spiders. I used to cringe at it, but along with Meat Loaf, Elton, Billy Joel and Thin Lizzy amongst others, it really spoke to me as I grew older.

I could forgo my whole music collection if I was told I could only listen to Bowie for the rest of my life, it is that varied and listenable.

On a side-note I hear that people are gathering in Hull at the Mick Ronson Stage. It's one of the most awful "tributes" to a rock legend ever, built in an old dock and mostly frequented by tramps. Only here could something be so bad. I might wander over there later tonight and see what's what, perhaps for once there'll be some je ne sais quoi about the place.

Just gutted. Like others, I started listening to Bowie later on in life, and was amazed to discover both the quality and breadth of his catalogue. There's no other artist like him, and there never will be.

He had that ageless quality where you just assumed he'd be around for years more. I certainly didn't think he was only 69, it seems bizarrely young for someone that has been creating work of such calibre for almost 50 years.

His duet with Bing is one of my favourite holiday songs, and it'll feel different when Christmas rolls around next year.

RIP Star Man. :(
