Signs I have a great girlfriend: she has declared this is our plan for Valentines. No fancy dinner. No mushy cards. Just a wrinkly Reynolds. :D

You've got yourself a keeper. May I suggest a ring? :P

I don't watch X-Men but people said it was Cerebro or something ?...

If you pause it with the doors open, it looks more like a hangar than anything. The next scene also shows The Blackbird flying away, so that's what I feel atleast.

The preview trailers didn't do much for me... but these last few have snagged another viewer. :D

That's probably because the preview trailers have to be sanitised for general exhibition when the whole point of Deadpool is that he's an arsehole who happens to be a hero. I saw the redband trailer attached to The Hateful Eight and even the octogenarians who turned their noses up at the Dirty Grandpa redband trailer found it funny.

Wait, what's it rated? I just watched a trailer that wouldn't clear PG-13.

...Rated R. Or the equivalent thereof.

Looks like review embargo's lifted, and I'm seeing a few pop up here and there. All positive.

...Should I be worried?

appropriate Deadpool movie
Comic book movies have been misses far more often than hits in my eyes--frankly, the only one I'm willing to see again is Spider-Man--so that's the key. Also, consider Ryan Reynolds has been two characters bequeathed with extra-human abilities already (that I'm aware of, and okay, so one of those was actually this one but in a different movie, but the other one was...*shudder*...The Green Lantern).

Everyone interested should know that digital versions of the Deadpool volume 1s, across multiple titles, are on sale for $3 on Marvel Digital, Comixology, and Kindle right now.

In Wolverine and Green Lantern he was handed a script. His acting had little to do with the issues in those films. He has openly acknowledged that Deadpool was not done correctly. In this one he has gone so far as to put up his own money in order to become a producer and have decision making power. With 29 early reviews it currently has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Compare that to GL's 26% and Wolverine's 38%.

Also, consider Chris Evans in Fantastic Four and now in Captain America. The quality difference is huge. Far more is involved than a single actor.

That didn't come off as I'd intended, though upon reflection, I'm really not quite sure where I was really going with it. My apologies.

I think Ryan Reynolds is a perfectly adequate actor. Actually, the wife and I watched Chaos Theory the other night and I enjoyed the crap out of it, with a great deal of that enjoyment derived from the character he played.

So, is Ryan Reynolds really Deadpool? Or is Deadpool just a comic book version of Ryan Reynolds? I can't distinguish.
If you break the fourth wall: yes.

In the video game it doesn't start until he gets the script for the game and you can have him call Nolan North to do the voice acting.

No, I mean, I can't believe Deadpool as a character. It's just Ryan Reynolds in red tights. I know I sound like a broken record about this, but it's the truth.

Isn't that basically any well known actor?
Sure, it fits the Ryan Reynolds type casting, but who else could you see doing it? The fact that you can't separate it even adds to the fourth wall breaking effect.

I seriously believe that without Reynolds we would have wound up with someone like Zac Efron or Channing Tatum.

Which is why I'm convinced the Gambit movie will be a lot more like the first Wolverine movie than the current Fox stuff.

:yuck:

I appreciate that Reynolds has such love for the role. I can't picture anybody else doing it with the same dedication at this point. All of the reviews have been positive so far, so I'm really excited for Sunday.

I'm seeing it on Friday. It's my first order of business after I cash my first paycheck.

That's true.

So i watched it.

It was friggin awesome 10/10 from me. Best comic book adaptation ! The fights sceneswere well choreographed, none of the jokes are cringeworthy too

but Indonesia sucks at theaters that some of the scenes got cut or censored because they are deemed to sensitive here.

Oh and stay tuned for the end credits.

It's been some time since I've watched a cinema release that perfectly matched my expectations. Didn't go in expecting a masterpiece comic book origins adaptation, but they measured the meta humour and action as well as I could have hoped. Also incredibly relieved to know they didn't fluff this 'Revised Timeline' interpretation.

I thought the layout for the origin backstory was a tad ham fisted throughout the first half. Though with a character like Deadpool breaking 4th walls to give us the deets, you just accept it anyway.

I can almost guarantee you won't leave your seat without at least a dumb smile on your face or a warm sense of satisfaction.
