I like this little Clio Race Car. Quite the nimble machine.
The AI in this race is much more easily dealt with than the ******'s at Seattle. However, that little bastard in the Elise can give you a run for your money.

Here's the down low:

The car: Clio Sport Race Car, 285 HP with 0.0 miles. This will increase with milage. Currently I'm at 307 HP with 170 miles.

Modifications:
Semi-Racing suspension. (I think this is standard equip.)
T1 Tires:eek:
Downforce: .29/.47

Set the car to your liking. ASM + TCS your option.

The track: Deep Forest II, Amateur League, MR Challenge.

Rules:
Due to the unforseen nature of the Clio Race Car, it has the ability to gain HP under the break-in period. As the car gains in HP the race looses a bit of it's fun factor. To keep the fun factor at a maximum (sorry for this "fun factor" gayness, but I'm about to fall asleep.:embarrassed: ) the downforce setting of the car will be kept at the minimum allowable. .29/.47.

The white line on the track is the track boundry, keep 2 wheels on the track side of this line at all times. The exception to this is when rumble strips are present.

Contact with the AI is allowed as long as it is not advantageous to you. However, it is much easier to avoid the AI in this race, so please keep contact to a absolute minimum.

Have fun!:mischievous:

:D This race looks like a little Gem Rob...I'll have a crack at this first thing in the morning. Got a blue Clio oil changed and waiting in the garage for a decent session. ;)

Hey Drew!

Hey, I was under the impression that "race" version cars were already at there peak HP. However, the Clio seem's to be building power. Currently I am running at 305 HP as opposed to the 285 from when I first began. It has made quite the difference in the 'excitement' of the race as now the AI is easily defeated in 1 or 2 laps. I must admit, I like the race much better when the Clio was just a bit slower.

How much of a handicap would 'Normal' tyres make to the lap times do you think?

EDIT...WooHoo!! 200 Posts, thats a milestone for me!

I was thinking that as well, but 'normal' tires are not an option for that car.
I had such a blast with this race when the car was just a bit slower, and there is nothing that I can think of to slow down the car a bit. You have any thoughts Drew?

Alright! Congrats on 200 posts. Is it 200 or 500 posts for a custom avatar? I'll have to check.

Doh!! used to be 200 posts!...ah well at the rate I've been posting while on holidays I'll get there!
Thats a bugger on the normal tyres...might have made the difference. Taking the downforce out of it may be an option I suppose but the damn thing handles so well it'll probably end up faster down the straight with a quicker time. Might be stuck with it I suspect.
What if you make the race 2 classes...Class 1 is the race car and class 2 is a modded road car? Run the two cars in the same results....

That's a good idea Drew, I'll fiddle around with a modded road car a bit and see what I can get out of it.
But go ahead and run with the race car for now. It really was a good race when your starting with a fresh car. Full throttle and bumber to bumber! But with ample room to maneuver around and disect your opponents! :mischievous:

Hey Drew, I took your suggestion about the downforce. I played with the settings of it and came to the conclusion that if downforce is set to a absolute minimum (.29/.47) then the car is back to where it was previously.
Now this raises a new situation now, what to do in the meantime while your car isn't up to full power? Currently, I'm at 307 HP with 166 miles and still growing. Have no idea of when the HP will stop rising. I would assume that it wont go up much more at this point.

I appologize for this everyone, little did I know that the racing version of the Clio would actually build horsepower.

I just ran a 6'46.xxx with the 307 HP and minimum downforce, where as before I had run a 6'39.xxx.

Sorry Rob, got a bit distracted away from the PC....why not go for the downforce limit then? So it might make us all work a bit harder until the HP is up but thats half the fun hey! Run with it mate. I'll play around with the standard car too. Lets see what we can come up with!

Boom, only won cars are at their maximum. I also heard that 'Won race cars' dont lose HP. Correct me if Im wrong. See you after school all!......

Wrong. They lose power so don't save the game when you run loads of miles in a prize car ;)

I think I'll have a little go at this race, I love Deep Forest & might just go and buy the lovely sick pink #99 Clio, should stand out in the woods :D

egads...so much to do...So little time...

As it currently stands, I'm beating a lightlty modded RGT on T5's around this course. As well as trying to win the Tokyo R246 (AMA MR) in a minimalist approach to a Toyota MR2 G-limited.

Leaving me considerably bent at the game late last night. I lost by less that a second to the Elise, went back, and added a stage 2 NA. Shaved 20 seconds off my time, and lost by 1.2 seconds, to the same car. I saved both replays, loaded them into the laptop, and scrapped them with MK's utility. Both time the AI cars were set up the same. Cheatin' AI...

I will have a go at this race though. I do love htat little lunch box rocket.

Will start this one tomorrow as i love Deep Forest:)

T1 and minimum downforce?
I have to ask, Rob. How on earth can you come up with ideas like that?:P

Well, here's what I think about when designing a race. First, I think about what would anger a Dutch man. Then, I say to myself, how can I frustrate a Dutch man. Then when I think that I have something that would piss off and irritate a Dutch man, I devise rules and regulations to the race that would just about bring a Dutch man to commit suicide.
So now I've got a Dutch man that is pissed, frustrated and holding a gun to his head. If the Dutch man is smart, he'll say to himself "screw this, I ain't gonna run this race."
Then, and only then, I will have a chance to take the checkerd flag! :D

So, did it work Mischa?:mischievous:

6'43.798 with the downforce to min , only fiddled with the gears so far and I had an off in that run on first corner, lap whatever :(

Post a faster clean one soon hopefully :)

Just ran the race once. I dont see how the Elise's can give you a run for your money. Only in the beginning they did. They came in last. I had trouble with that ZZS.

1:58.244 :( :banghead:

Guess Im not very fast after all. I only did it once and only tuned the autoset and rideheight. Any good settings? Practice practice practice.....

[EDIT] 6:58.244 not 1:58.244 . Typo on my part..........

What race are you running Cal?

I'm running 6'45's right now.
Minimum downforce, T1 tires, and at 308 HP.
Your running the MR Challenge, Amateure league?

Just rang up a 6'43.281! Not a 100% clean run though. Back to the drawing board.

I'm hot on your tail Kelly!

How much HP you guys (and gals for the politically correct) running? Maybe its because Im low on HP. And the fact I only ran twice.....

haha!
Cal, just keep at it. I'll post up my replay here in a bit. Download it and have a look at it.
I'm running at 308 HP. I think that is where she is going to peak out at.
I was just wondering where you were running Cal, as you posted a time of 1'58.xxx. If you can do 5 laps in less than 2 minutes time, your the man!

I don't know yet, as i won't be able to drive this one till tomorrow.
But T1 and minimum downforce sounds like a situation that some Dutch man does not like very much.

So yeah, i think you've come up with another winner here, Rob:D

I just checked in with a 6'42.7 but not 100% clean, damn me!
I don't know Mischa, "I" am loading the gun as we speak. Hmmmm, 9mm hollow points, oohhh so messy! :D
