Deleted FM5 - Many cars gone in Forza 6

I don't understand what happened here:

Wanted to free up space and had no intentions of playing either FM5 or Hor F&F, so deleted game saves for both, along with Forza 5 + free car packs and the free Hor 2 F&F game I had downloaded.

Many cars from FM6 are now gone. Went into cars for rent or purchase and there are only two cars from Chevrolet, Audi and AM available for rent/purchase. Many race cars are gone. Honda only has 5 road cars, none of the Indy cars are there. Alfa Romeo is not even there in the list.

Nowhere did T10 mention you have to keep Forza 5 installed in order to enjoy the 450+ cars. Anybody else on the same boat?

@CAMAROBOY69 Didn't you mention recently in a thread that you also deleted Forza 5 since getting 6? Do you still have the same number of cars available to rent or buy?

Man, I am bummed about this...now Forza 6 feels more empty than F5!

At this time, I can confirm that you need to have FM5 installed in order for the cars to carry over. Delete it, and it gets rid of several cars in FM6. I just reinstalled FM5, and now all the cars are back in 6, though a purchase I had made before deleting FM5, is not showing up in 6. Plus, may have lost a bit of cash along the way, but that's it.

I have the standard 10 year anniversary pack edition. So as long as you have the standard FM5 game installed (no need for car packs or other update/DLC), you'll have access to all the FM6 cars, minus paid DLC, i.e. 458 speciale, F&F cars, Lambo Veneno, F1 GT etc.

You do not need FM5 but maybe if you have FM5 and install FM6 then uninstall FM5 there is an issue.
I did not buy FM5, never been on my system and I do in fact have all the cars. So FM5 is not required though some of the cars may be saved under some FM5 title and as a result you removed those without knowing.

I still hop on FM5, so this will not be a problem for me. It is handy information to have for future purposes. Like when I finally get an external storage drive.

I uninstalled 5 after I'd fired up 6 for the first time and have had no such issues

Well, how odd then.

Some of you point out that if you install FM6 without having 5 on your HDD to begin with, things remain fine. And here we have @RacerPaul who says he did exactly what I did and all cars are there.

I'm positively stumped! Though I simply reinstalled FM5, which resolved the issue - all cars are back.

Maybe it takes your rewards, achievements and playtime into account and gives you the cars accordingly, just a theory though, as T10 never mentioned anything about keeping F5 installed in order to enjoy the 450+ cars (minus paid DLC cars of course).

I still hop on FM5, so this will not be a problem for me. It is handy information to have for future purposes. Like when I finally get an external storage drive.

umm, if you like.. as an experiment.. maybe you could uninstall F5 to see if some the cars remain in 6. If you do lose them, you can always reinstall 5. Though I doubt if you're up for it.

Uh, what? No, no issues with FM5. With 6 actually. Many cars from the game went missing after I deleted FM5 and Hor2 F&F, including their game saves.

The cars came back after I reinstalled FM5, though I haven't launched it. It's just sitting there, so I get to keep my cars in FM6.

I had also reached out to the community at forza.net, and one fellow said it's OK to delete the game but I need to keep my game save in order to enjoy all the launch cars in FM6. I wonder if I should launch FM5, retrieve my save from the cloud, and then delete it. Cos' it really is a waste of space; I don't see why the full previous game is needed to keep the cars in FM6.

It probably has to do with the save file only.

I think there's a little confusion here - In my post, I was referring to *cars that went missing in FM6* after I deleted FM5 + game save. They came back after I reinstalled FM5, though I haven't launched my game to retrieve the save.

I think what you're referring to are the cars that didn't make it to the FM6 launch list? If so, this ain't the right thread bud.

I'll have a look when I fire up my X1. Maybe my save file is still there and that's why I don't have the issue?

Roughly half that list is wrong, and I'm being generous. This isn't the topic of the thread, either.

I imagine something else has been deleted. If cars are missing that weren't even in FM5, I'm not sure how that game's data would impact FM6 in any way.

Well, the issue seems to have resolved itself even though now I have FM5 deleted. Here's what I did:

Installed FM5, cars came back in FM6. So I thought maybe if I launch F5, retrieve my save and THEN delete the game, FM6 would have all the cars. So I boot up the game and it takes me to that update screen which says, 14 gigs. I'm like no way jose!

So I delete F5 again, go to F.Hub, check out all my rewards and everything - the app does register my achievements in F5, even though the save's gone, right? So anyway, I launch FM6, and all the cars are there! BTW, not counting the paid DLC or Furious cars, there are a total of 475. Not bad at all. You even get to drive cars that were paid DLC in F5, just as a reward for loyalty.

Bear in mind though, I was online the entire time. Maybe F6 requires you to be online in order to make all those 450+ cars available. Will begin an offline session and report.

All in all, things are back to the way they were, and thankfully I don't have to hold on to F5 or the space it was unnecessarily occupying.

Yes I deleted F5. I didn't notice any cars missing. I could check again tonight but I think they are all there.

The cars are back - will have to launch offline and see if they still show up.

I'm about to delete my Forza 5 gamedata to make room, which cars are supposed to be missing? You neglected to mention that and with nearly 500 cars I have no idea how long it will take to check.

I would recommend you not touch the game save. Just go ahead and uninstall FM5... all should be okay.
