Cause my last one made some annoying sounds, and the one I exchanged it for it making a clicking sound. Going to exchange again tomorrow and get my third wheel. Hopefully it works right...
I also hated when the unit powers up and the wheel turns left and right and it sounds like its going to break when its fully turned.

Mine's worked out of the box with no problems like this. It does spin quick on start up, but mine has never made me think it's anywhere near breaking by doing so. There's a bit of the motor sound depending what you do with it but honestly when the TV (or surround system) is at normal volume I couldn't care less about the negligible noise from the wheel.
I usually have bad luck with consumer electronics so maybe karma is finally cutting me a break, but there's certainly hope that you'll get a good one, good luck!
EDIT: @ TsukubaTrueno: I was in the same position as you. I got the DFGT because I chose the red real time adjustments wheel and saving $100 or so over having a clutch. Both are valid choices. Be warned though, since I've been playing Prologue with the DFGT it's gotten me much more interested in some other racing games too (it's working well with them all so far), so if you're like me you might expand into others also.
No problems here, I've had it for a year and a half and a problem has crept in which is just a slightly sticking brake pedal, but it doesn't do it very often so it doesn't really bother me. The DFGT is certainly a lot noisier than the G25, FFB and pedals, but the DFGT is still good.
Just tried mine for the first time, is the feedback supposed to feel at times like two plastic slipping gears?
You may be describing what I was talking about earlier. Like, when you are turning the wheel and holding it steady, the wheel tries to give you feedback but instead it "slips" and makes a really awful noise.
I've noticed this, but I suspect it's not a problem. If the design allows it to slip, rather than damage itself, then that's probably a good thing.
I got my DFGT a few days ago, and haven't had any problems. It's not silent, and it seems pretty violent at times (when turning on), but not enough to make me worry.

No noise, just a slipping gear feeling through the wheel. I tried rfactor and it wasn't there. Only with gt5p it seems.
