I have just bought a dfgt wheel ,yesterday. The brake pedal makes a tapping noise when pressed, in the first 20 mm of travel. My old gtpro wheel makes the same kind of noise, just less pronounced. Have people out there with dfgt wheels noticed this. Or do i return it for a new one .

Mine did. I fixed it.

The brake pedal has two springs--one that's exactly like the one on the accelerator and another black one that is much stronger. The first 20mm of travel is just taken care of by the weaker (gold colored) spring. When the brake travels further, the black spring kicks in and provides additional resistance.

OPTION A:
Two steps for this fix:
1. Add generous amounts of plastic-safe grease in the areas where the springs meet the top and bottom casing.
2. With some pliers, bend the black (L-shaped) spring so that it's opens wider. This will make this secondary spring engage sooner and in most cases, reduce the "click" noise when engaging.

Option B:
Don't be so anal. If it works fine, just leave it alone. Enjoy the drive.

It seems like a lot of DFP/GT has the same problem. It works allright don't worry about that. I got my DFP 8 months ago from someone who bought it on release and it wasn't doing this, until some time. (I was driving with shoes) So be gentle on the pedals and don't drive with shoes.
Mine does and well I don't really care about it because I have a G27 coming in 2 days. :D
