My DFGT came loose from the stand and fell. The Power plug and Pedal plug disconnected, but the USB cable sheared off at the back base of the DFGT. I have taken everything apart and disconnected the actual USB connection.

I have three options...

1. Punt it and buy another.
2. Get a replacement USB adapter and connection.
3. Solder the tiny wires back together.

I greatly prefer option #2, if possible.

Question is has anyone else ever done this? Surely so.
I have searched the internet for a replacement for Part Number 502-000240 (the number on the back of the USB connector) with no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can:

A) Get a similar lenght quality usb cable/extension cable from an electronics store, and most electronics shops will have that white 5-pin connector. You cut off one end of the USB extension cable and crimp on the white connector without forgetting to put the ferrite ring the same way it was.

B) Solder and heatsrink the broken wires.

C) Contact Logitech and maybe by a miracle they will send you a replacement. Highly unlikely.

This is kind of the long way around but... one of these might fit http://www.cablesonline.com/2fusb20bmato.html

Then you would need an adapter to go from USB B to USB A.

That connector looks like a JST... I might have some. I'll take a look.

It's a common connection method on stuff... If you have any old usb stuff laying around, like a bigger old webcam, you might get lucky and find one that fits.

Ravey that's funny. :) I looked all over online for that motherboard cable with female header/USB A and the only ones I could find were in the UK. (I didn't post them since this guy is not) What do you guys have going on over there? :P

Great idea on the connector block.

Oh, and I didn't have any 5 pin connectors that size at home :(

Once upon a time, I had a G27. The pedals broke down and Logitech promised me to send a new G27 package. But I had to cut the USB cable and send the USB connector to a German Logitech address.

I had a replacement USB cable lying around. Opened the G27, removed the broken USB cable from the PCB board inside the G27 and soldered the replacement USB cable (which I had lying around :P) to the PCB Board of the G27.

And it worked!

Solder the wires. It's the easiest way!
