Hey guys
I had the issue on the weekend where the wheel all of a sudden lost steering and feedback. No GT logo flash like in other cases. All buttons and pedals work though. The wheel smelt burnt at this point so I suspected the motor was gone. Power supply was fine.
Opened it up and the tested the motor which was fine.
However the optical encoder board smelt burnt out which is odd as it only has a IR sender a receiver and a resistor.
I have had the wheel for 1 year 8 months so it is out of warranty here in Australia as we only get 1 year hence why I just pulled it apart.
However while I was cleaning the board up I decided to pull the encoder wheel off as there was grease in the vanes that had leaked through the gap in the shaft. Cleaned it with contact cleaner(bad move) which made it brittle so 1 of 3 sections broke off it when I put it back on the shaft.
Should have read the warning not to use on ABS plastic before spraying

Does anyone know where you can buy this Optical Encoder wheel as logitech email support don't seem to answer my emails. Allready tried glew, but the wheel just splits when you put it on the shaft.
I will try to find my camera and get a picture of it tomorrow.
