Did PD Change Demographic?

@VBR - is this guy a casual gamer https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/super-mission-4-is-a-nightmare.303088/#post-9347457

There's plenty of other threads where people have trouble with GT6 races

Give your casual mate a go in the Red Bull Junior and Standard events. Do you think he would find them challenging?
It's worth noting the guy struggling managed to do it before anyone even had chance to offer their help. Previous GT's and he'd still be trying a month later.

As for the Red Bull events, GT6 isn't completely without challenge- that's not up for question, there are a few events that aren't too easy at all (Go Karts, RB events, missions & coffee breaks)- but overall it's such an easier game than it has been previously.

At this rate it won't be long before he's along again.

I'm all for people defending a game they like and reasonable debate but it's getting a little combative at the moment.

I have nothing to say to him privately. If he continues to attack my posts in similar fashion, I believe I deserve the right of reply.
Of course you have the right to reply but after the initial defence it may be prudent to move any ongoing argument on the matter into private. Neither of you come off well when you start arguing about who's posts are of more value.

I'm not taking sides here. It's just that anyone who wants to read through the posts in this thread to get a general consensus of opinion now has to sift through all that as well.

VBR
Nobody has trouble with the races in GT6, as GT6 has no actual racing in it. What people have trouble with is the rubber banding, which tries (& fails) to create the illusion of racing.
Wish I'd have thought of that. That's exactly what most of the offline outside of a couple of races is, the illusion of racing. I wish I'd saved it but someone posted a screenshot of their victory in the 24 mins of Nurb race last week which they won by 20+ seconds..in a Suzuki Cappuccino!! Some people will run their Cappy against 600 HP full out race car and think that's a race (not the guy who posted the screenshot, I think that was for comic relief). Most of us aren't that deluded. Simply arriving at the finish line at the same time as your opponent isn't racing.

Like tires, ballast, lowering PP etc?

The problem with that is it's still complete guesswork. Here is how you adjust the difficulty of a 'race' in GT6.

- You look at the initial PP of the event and choose a car you think might give you a challenge.
- One of two things usually happen. You either catch the rabbit that's 20 seconds down the road easily or you don't.
- If it's the former you try a slower car/add ballast/change tyres etc. This time the rabbit is too quick, you never catch them. You adjust up a bit. This time you catch him on lap 2/3. Too much. Take a bit out again, hooray you caught them in the last sector of the last lap. What a brilliant racing success!

All you're ever doing is finding a car that is just the right performance so that you only catch the lead rabbit near the end of the 'race'. You never actually adjust anything so that you can have a close race like you might see on TV, it's just about being just the right speed to catch the car that started miles ahead of you at the right time.

Catching up on a few recent threads I've seen a certain someone claim they had good races with the AI, and even lost, as if that makes it good. All that means is he went too far on picking a car to catch up to the lead rabbit. He didn't actually have a fair and realistic race for the lead in an even car, because that isn't possible in GT6. He just ran out of time to catch up with the rabbit that started 20 seconds ahead of you.

So yeah, that's totally the correct way to customise game experience. Not adjustable AI that doesn't rubberband.

Rubbish. Let's look at the context, it was a direct reply to this.

So I listed some customisation options. Can you explain how you interpret that as defending PD and GT6?

Are you inferring that pyrates is attacking PD and GT6 in his post?
If you couldnt tune a single car the game could still be more than enjoyable, But lack of options such as camera position and all the other stuff people ask for like that are the options we really need, And all of those things you mentioned were there in gt5 so PD have hardly pushed the boat out on the options front have they.

As for me saying you're defending PD well every post i've seen attached to your user handle is defending pd one way or the other even going so far as to say about Pcars
In real life, would all the windscreen wipers be in the same position?

And would the tires have square corners?
lmao, You have a defense for every PD flaw or show of incompetence but thats the biggest critism you can come with against a potential rival game,

heres another corker
Ok, though it appears they have modeled the wrong angle. Unless they all turned them on at the same time?

Honourable mention goes to
"Project Delay?"

I'm just trying to keep consistent with the level of critique that GT endures.
Oh really? Funny because i have not seen you aim any critism of this ilk at GT, So basically i see most if not all of your posts as defending PD

Since when is observations about pCars a defense for PD?

Give it up man, this isn't the thread for it. We all have differing opinions.

It all boils down to...it isn't really racing..not in any rational sense. It's a game with an offline mode designed for people new to the game, who can pick a car somewhat close to the stated specs and destroy the AI even if they go off track, spin out, and crash into other cars numerous times.

Indeed, hence why I put race in inverted commas. ;) A-Spec bears no resemblance to real life racing on pretty much any level. You have cars that slows down on purpose, cars that purposely enters events they can't win and of course worst of all, the starting format. Then you have the fact you're taking part in a world where damage nor any rules exist, nor does tyre or fuel wear until the final part of your 'career' when suddenly they do exist and at an accelerated rate compared to reality.

I do wonder what exactly the real driving simululator is meant to be simulating.

Here are my experiences of the AI;

1) Most Career races they slow down & let me past, then I win by miles.

2) In some driving missions I get past, then they tail gate me & spin me out.

3) In Arcade mode I took a stock 111R to Bathurst where I was put up against the new Honda NSX Concept , he won by over 40 seconds.

The races are either impossibly easy, frustrating, or just impossible. It's so unbalanced. I've yet to have any kind of experience that even comes close to real world motorsport. It's definitely been dumbed down for the masses, generally speaking. The only racing I found challenging was the karts, but for all the wrong reasons! I've now given up on this game, gone back to GT5, & am waiting for the Community Features update when I will give it another go (just online).

Sorry I'm late....
@jimipitbull @Tornado Could you two move this to PM please? You're just attacking eachother now and I don't think there's a thread for that.

I'm not trying to be mini-mod but since I posted the OP I feel some need to at least try and keep it on topic.. -ish.
Spot on 👍 @Tornado and @jimipitbull should both be beyond this level of tit-for-tat but seem unable to resist. Do I need to give you both a kick up the backside?

"Trust me, this is going to hurt me as much as it does you."
I have nothing to say to him privately. If he continues to attack my posts in similar fashion, I believe I deserve the right of reply.
Within reason... I know you love to play the jester-styled devil's advocate but when it reaches that degree of back-and-forth without any of it actually relating to the topic at hand, you need to move it to PM.... please! This of course applies to both of you and anyone else who can't resist a good off-topic public ding-dong.

As always, this is me asking nicely; something I prefer to do only once, lest there be misunderstandings about my lack of patience.
