it happened 2 me after all these years. is the Greatest Hits game still out, & the glitch was worked out so 100% can be done now, rite? how did u react? the mem card had both GT1 & GT2 & it's wiped clean.

:scared: :guilty: đź’ˇ  :yuck: :indiff: :ill: :grumpy: :ouch: :dunce:

I don't know what you're talking about, your grammar's kind of messed up, VTEC.

I do know that I was testing a BMW the other day and got 400m and 1000m times that were low, but the playstation tried to make them into 1st place records (you know, like when you're done your test-if you're one of the 8 fastest cars, the game lets you enter your name as a record). Anyways, the game recorded the BMW's 'record' as 1st place, but didn't enter my name..it just left that as a blank space..I didn't save it, though..I figured it had to be a glitch!

from what i remember, ppl complained about a glitch in GT2 that would wipe out all the game saves on your memory card. if your game was complete @ 98% then this meant your game had the glitch. which only occurred on the 1st batch of games. a kind-of "recall" was done where you can order the fixed version. & supposedly the Greatest Hits version is also fixed so you can acheive 100% & not have this memory card glitch.

this happened to me this past weekend after 4 years. & now i'm in process of reclaiming my GT1 stats, but may just buy a GameShark to save myself the aggravation of the endurance races.

Oh I get it now. I don't know if it happened to me, I'm nowhere near to completing GT2. Why are you buying a Gameshark to 'save yourself aggravation of the endurance races?"

Hi VTECseoul, I have had that glitch and it wiped my memory card out too. I believe it was the 1.0 version of GT2. It happened when you saved after doing the machine test part of GT2. That is why you should'nt save after using that part of the game. I hope this helps out some. :)

it happened to me. but i just lost teh cars. and its either cuz u drove your car out of a track, or at about 50%, the car on teh top of ur list in ur garage, says "No Name" if it does, sell that car for $0 :indiff: . if u dont sell it and u save, thats how u lose all your cars

Yeah, that blows. I just lost all the cars on one of my memory cards (I have aabout 10 of them now..all for GT2). I don't mind rebuilding my stock, but I hate that the game won't let you buy new cars..it just freezes. So it forces you to start all over again. Sucks. :(

when i lost my cars, my cousin was thankfully over at my place, and he gave me his garage đź‘Ť
hehes a good guy.
i sold like 15 of em'
and turned the ones ive bought i turned into drift cars

"The GT2 glitch" would corrupt only your GT2 garage, leaving the memory card consistent and other saves intact. It would happen immediately after doing the Max Speed Test.

It sounds like you had a hardware glitch of some sort, either a bad memory card or power problems of some sort.

Parnelli Bones' problems do, however, sound like he has a buggy version of GT2.

The bug was that the Test Centre thought it had space for more records than it actually had, so when you went past 8 records, it would overwrite inappropriate things--the next set of records in the case of 400M and 1000M, or your garage in the case of Max Speed.

http://www.geocities.com/gt2toxs/gt/diary/2001-02-28.html hints at the precise bug.

i had a glitch on my gt2, in which the first car on your garage or the second would have a hp higher than a thousand. it kinda repeated twice when i was playing. but the car did work, my skyline went too fast though.

isnt that good?

I remember when I was about halfway through the game my memory card decided to wipe itself. I don't know if it was to do with GT2 or not. It wasn't a Sony official memory card, just a cheap version.

I tried the "Garage Bug" for myself a while ago. If you set 9 records in the Top Speed Test, the garage will lose all it's cards. However, all your other records (lap times, trophies, licenses, win ratios, etc.) will be intact.

Of course, if you lose everything, and have no credits (or not enough to buy any car), then you're either stuck trying to win cars through all-gold licenses (if you haven't done so), or you have to reset the game.

Multi-size Memory Cards with battery power tend to go bad eventually, for example. Best to stick with the 1x cards, they are fairly cheap these days. I've never had any brand of 1x cards go bad, but I tend to take good care of my PSX, disks, and memory cards.

A scratched disk can also ruin your day. Luckily, GT2 almost never left my PSX, so that wasn't an issue, unless GT1 went in it's place! Of course, over the years, people seem to treat all optical disks like they are trash; by not putting them in a case which might take 10 extra seconds of your time, money's lost and headaches are gained.

Not sure if my multi-cards have batteries. Only the oldest (visibly an earlier model) is at all flakey so far. But then all the important crap on those cards is Dex'd somewhere anyway... As long as I have a GameShark to change day and therefore used car line-ups my 24 used-car lineups is less important. I stick them in once in a while and look at various stuff--I guess maybe I should do so a bit more regularly. Or just forget about them, maybe... ;)

I've also always been scared to stick a 24x card into my PS2 for fear of breaking the PS2. Likewise with 3rd party 1x PS1 cards.

I think it's something to do with how very young people learn. You tell them not being careful can damage the disk and they say "but it still works alright". Grr. Probably destined to become engineers (as opposed to theoreticians). Less young people and really old people like me still have some wonderment at 600MB of information on a 4.5" disk, etc. But for really young people it's just an assumed part of their world view. Why should they need to be careful with it?
