Did the video game forum traffic died down?

Maybe folks have moved to other, more addictive, places? I for one am doing the opposite: I said goodbye to the hamster wheels and came back to good ole' forums and chat rooms (Discord, Slack, etc.) IMO smaller communities means higher quality interactions.

It does feel like traditional forums are dying off a bit. I blame platforms like Reddit which is pretty much the Walmart of the internet in terms of forums.

You can find a sub for almost anything, and if you can’t find it then you can start your own. Seems great but it’s a shady platform (along with the likes of TikTok, FB) and takes a lot of traffic away from smaller, independent forums like GTP.

Discords are better for individual games. The only reason I stay around GTP is that it's actually a good website that functions well, has good content, and is moderated appropriately. If it wasn't, it would've dried up long ago when people moved to other platforms that make more sense. The age of internet forums is over, which isn't a bad thing since the only ones that still survive are the good ones.
