First I would like to talk about the Cadilllac Cien.
So many people here has mentioned it in the thread about least liked or most hated cars.
I don't understand this.
Pros
1. It is free and easily obtainable. (I will exsplain this later if anyone dissagrees)
2. You can add a wing giving you the opportunity to set the down pressure to 55 front and 65 rear.
3 Then with just an oil change you are all set to run many races in which it dominates. (Try it against the mid/rear cars in beginners course and you will see what I am talking about.)

Cons
1, It is a special car therefore you can not compete even against itself in the Supercar festival of the professional Events. (This always ticks me off. the AI can use it but you cannot.)

Now I am sure everyone knows about the GT3 game save aquiring license and money. (If not I will discuse this later or let someone with more literal knowledge do it.)
What I would like to point out in this post is the advantages of using this feature and how to supercharge you're gamming exspearience.

Please pardon my poor spelling. I could look up the words that I misspell if it annoys anyone.
I am a bit lazy and don't want to take the time.

1. Any time I start a new game first I aquire the free license and the $100,000 which gives you $110,00 to start purchasing cars and adding power ups.
2. Now buy a car with adaquate power and handling abillity to suit your tastes.
3. Go straight to the Special conditions races and start on race #2 (Capri rally easy) Four laps later you have $10.000 additional and a car (Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car) you can sell for $265,000. Do this 4 times for an easy $1,000,000.

So within an hour you have become a millionare.
The possibilitys is up to your imagination from there.
You can do pretty much whatever you want with this limited knowledge.

Dont you mean GT4? If not, then your in the wrong forum.

Also, just so you dont get into trouble in future from mods/admin. Please dont post directly under one of your own posts. Instead, you should use the edit feature.

Cheers!

No I am talking about requiring the first two license and the $100.000 from the GT3 game saves of you're memory card that you can download in GT4.

I was not editing my post.
I was making another addition to the same string.
Which I started for the purpose of offering helpfull suggestions to persons that may benifit by them.
I didn't intend to break any rules or to annoy anyone.
Just trying to pass along some helpfull hints.

Please feel free to correct me at anytime or offer you're own tips and suggestions.

Edit man you guys type and post fast.
I am a one finger typist who thinks and reacts slow.

No one's commented on the first post, so I guess I might as well. :sly:

The Cien is a great car. Everything you said is true. But, the gearchanges are horrid! I think a Corsa Comfort 1.4 has a better gear shifting time. The Cien seems to shift, wait an hour, then engage the next gear! Its the gearbox (for me anyway) which lets the whole car down. I had the pleasure of obtaining this car early on in my GT4 career, so I completed many races with it. It's capable of winning, but the gearbox is too annoying. :yuck:

And it can't be upgraded so there's no fixing it. When I won the car I did use it to do a lot of races, mainly because it had 600+hp and the handling wasn't bad. The only bad part about the whole car is just the gearbox.

VTiRoj, Loon & mafia_boy
I'll have to wait to I win it again.
Try it again and pay more attension to the shifting.
I do know I love the car and like using it.
Right now I am trying to just run the Capri Rally (Easy)
selling the Rally raid car and buy every 6.2 milage cars as they come up.
I started with getting the license and doing the missions and using the cars that I won.
I at this point am not worring about Game completion or even any A-spec points.
I am trying to see what cars can win this race with as little upgrades as possible.
So I won't be winning any cars that have to be unlocked from other races.

Just something I decided to try.
I may give it up when I get bored with it.
Ok I ran out of cars to buy at 6.2 miles so I used the last Rally Raid Car and won the Cien to try out the trany.

Guess what Loon.

The Cien comes with a full costomamisable (SP) Trany

It's not that bit he means grampa. It's been a while since I drove the Cien but the problem was the lack of improvement from the clutch/flywheel area. I stopped driving it as I can make a better 700hp supercar from a lesser vehicle with a better acting gearbox action. ;)

Check the 1/4 mile times, the Cien isn't the big dog of the bunch, the Lotus & Zonda will smash it senseless (all of those are MR cars).

Ok I just tryed the 1/4 mile test track.
Now I see what you guys are saying.
I am not into drag racing and never even tryed the test tracks other then to see what they were like.

Granted no arguments the Transmition seems flawed.
I am sure more capable Tuners have tweeked it to its limits.
I don't do that stuff much.
I mainly just enjoy the stock performance of the various cars.
I normally just add power ups when absolutly nessasary.

I am way out of my league here when it comes to tuning cars.
I realize that after reading some of you're complex threads.

Bah, you're only out of people's leagues if you let yourself think so.

I considered myself to be absolutely out of anyone's league when I joined, yet I found out I was one of the quickest sprint tuners overall on GTP. I might not have #1 in every category on there but I'm up there in nearly every category which is good enough consdiering the level of competition on here. In other categories (300mph for example), I'm not up on the board even.....I've done it but I'm not satisfied with my results yet. :P

Other people have other goals too like you obviously do Grampa with your keeping things as factory as possible.
There's a dedicated mob of people who want to go as FAST as possible.
There's people like myself who want to go as QUICK as possible.
There's others that want to DRIFT as far as possible.
There's others who want to be the ultimate GT4 driver getting maximum A-spec pts. getting 200pts. a go (110,000+pts overall.).
There's others who want to be the best GT4 circuit driver, so the WRS is around for them.
There's others who tune up cars to make a perfect allround car for nearly every event conceivable in GT4 and make them act like a completely stock car with perfect handling.
Finally, there's others who just want to challenge eachother just for the hell of it. 👍

So many groups, so many goals, 1 game for it all. ;)

As you now know, most of us here already know about this, so I'm not gonna disagree at all. This info is nothing new, no offense. You're at GTplanet, not GameFaqs or Playstation.com.

You don't even need it. Sheesh, I won the Supercar festival for the first time in my Shelby Series 1 (with no wing kit attached). Which didn't have power anywhere near what the Cien has. 👎

Matter of fact, I was only running anywhere from 326 to 393 horses in the Supercar Fest, depending on which track I was at.

Yeh!!! I am not beyond cheating to enhance the game.
To me the Cien just has too much power to manage without the additional down pressure.

Interesting since the Supercar festival has a limit that would eliminate you're Shelby Series 1.
I do however agree that it is much more satisfying to win races with underpowered cars.

The thing about the Supercar festival is that you can crank your car's power up to the required amount, and then pull parts back off so you have less power. (As in go in, hit the settings tab, and pull parts off. Race. Put the parts back on, go to the next race, peel them off)

Yup. That's what I had to do just to get my Shelby in the race. I tried using a stronger car at first, but found the races too easy, so I went with the Shelby since it has a rather low initial power-rating for a supercar.

I titled this thread "Did you Know?"
Well thanks Rotary Junkie for that info.
I just learned something I didn't Know.
I do Know that in some restricted races when you go into the settings there is a prompt that states you will be unable to make certain changes due to the restrictions.
So naturaly I assumed that would apply here as well.

I owe you an apology Parnelli Bone.

I owe you an apology Parnelli Bone.

NO you don't! Sheesh, I probably owe you one.

Ask anyone around here....I'm usually the first to cry "OVERKILL' when stuff like this happens. The Cien is one of the classic overkillers because you can get it very early in the game, and then use it to crush everything.

Personally, I don't get it. I'm such a car fanatic, I need the pressure, the drama, and the excitement of racing. bla bla bla...everyone here has heard me like 1000x babbling the same stuff, I'm sure. But I don't get what's the point of racing if you're not gonna actually participate on the same level as the Ai.

Parnelli, that's what Family Cup +10 is for, so the AI can TRY and compete on YOUR level. Even then they can't keep up with 270hp of S14 with 500hp of RUF and Viper. :odd: But as for you needing pressure, you don't need that. What you do need is a lifetime supply of DS2's.

Family Cup +10 is overrated. At least at Trial Mountain anyway. I just beat everything in a stock Impreza Wagon. :P

I did that Supercar Festival "trick" with a 400bhp Supra. It was tough, but worth it in the end. 👍

Ha! So true mafs!

Still got that spare PAL version should you need it:tup:

But as you told me with 11, you'll get it in the end. And you'll be happier than a dog with two.... well you know what I mean:)

Have you guys ever maxed out the Daihatsu (warehouse truck) Midget and raced the Capri Rally?
I think I've won that race with just about every lightweight car in the game.

I haven't...but I think someone here did something like this. It's in the Race Reports section...dang, I'm forgetting who did it and which car.

Thanks for the info.
I am going to look that up.
Darn it is one of my favorite things to do.
Most lightweights I pretty much max out.
Compacs I boost everything but HP.
Just about all other (Non race) cars, just an oil change.
Race cars & specials forget it. (It's overkill) Unless you just want the money.:)

Drifting24/7 did a run at Capri Rally (normal difficulty) in a Cappucino with some heavy tuning and wrote up a race report...

Here's a little to add into the original Cien debate, I've only driven the car once, and in one location, with no modifications. It's not eligible for that many races, and some of those that it can enter it's waaaaaaaay toooooo much overkill for my liking. This, however, seemed to be perfect match:

Extreme Hall: Like The Wind Race - Test Course
Car: Cadillac Cien '02 (Minimum Downforce) / MR / ?HP (760HP on garage screen) / 1450kg / ?kg/HP (1.9kg/HP using garage value) / 200 A-spec points!

vs. Nissan R390 GT1, BMW V12 LMR, BMW McLaren F1 GTR, PlayStation Pescarolo C60/Judd, Pescarolo Courage C60/Peugeot.

Cadillac had fully customisable transmission and adjustable downforce in stock form! Downforce was minimised for less drag, and an autoset of 18 on the transmission allows for cruising at ~233mph on straights, and upto 250mph while drafting. Took off slowly from the line since I was on stock SM tyres versus everyone elses RM tyres, but once up to speed, the McLaren is reeled in first, giving a speed boost from the draft which allows me to catch the green Pescarolo, and again the slingshot puts me on the tail of the white Pescarolo. The BMW & Nissan who were once 7s in front have had their lead cut to under 5s by the end of lap 1, and after passing the 2nd Pescarolo, it's just a matter of time before I've crept up on them, passing them both in the second turn on lap 3. After that it's an easy cruise to the finish line, and 200 points!
