After seeing the jags in this tent I looked to the right and saw this beautiful thing.

New targa! First time seeing it after the Detroit auto show

Usually I use a Canon Rebel XSi, but last Christmas my parents got me a Rebel T3i. I looked both cameras up on Flickr and found that the T3i was the highest-rated Canon camera, so I decided to give it another chance this weekend. You may or may not notice a difference in photo quality.

Pre-facelift E39 M5s are already rare enough due to only being produced for two model years compared to the post-facelift's three, but it's also unusual to see a pre-facelift car that hasn't been converted to post-facelift spec. These can be distinguished by the rather dull-looking taillights (compared to the post-facelift's Hella LED units) and the lack of angel eyes in the headlights.

There's lots of information to be found on this headlight, apparently.

Interestingly, there was an LS430 to the left.

This is a Cressida.

Owning one of these Polestar S60s would be an interesting prospect after a couple years of Volvo's craptastic resale values take place.

A couple of weekends ago was the annual E30 Picnic. There were about 200 E30s that showed up, making it still the largest E30 gathering in the world.



There were a few laughs, like this guy, who put a real, formerly registered German license plate in the front of his car. Fortunately or unfortunately, English words isn't necessarily the same in German, so we end up with some rather amusing license plate combinations:



Then there were of course, a few rarities (at least in the US). Like this E30 Touring.



It was never imported by BMW to the US. All of them were gray market cars until this past year, when they became old enough to be imported to the US. This was 1 of 4 Tourings at the show.

There were also 2 or 3 E30 Bauers that showed up:


And of course, E30 M3s:



Five in a row, baby!



There was even a E30 M3 Convertible.





In total, over 20 E30 M3s were at the show. Quite a good turnout, I must say!

I was working at the GT Academy UK finals over the last couple of days. Yesterday afternoon I had a chance to get onto the BRDC roof terrace to admire what was hammering around the track at the time.
