I was at a hot rod show today. I'm not to into hot rods so I didn't get many pictures but it's nice to go and look at em all.

On the way home I saw a bunch of Lotuses at a resturant so we stopped. Turns out it was a Lotus club meet up.

^ That Lotus shots are fantastic 👍

So nicely preserved Europa and Elan!

Edit: THESE, silly me ;)

Never mind. Stupid iPad isn't letting me post the pictures, will try again, I guess.

The Europa shared its headlights and other parts (possibly door handles) with this:

...and a couple of other cars IIRC, early Lotuses were total spare parts bin cars but that somehow adds to their charm :)

^there are lots of such examples.

McLaren F1 has its taillights taken from a coach bus.
Volkswagen W12 Nardo took its from a Passat (B4 or 5, can't remember) - places swapped and rotated 90 degrees.
The first Lamborghini Murcielago has blinkers taken from 2000-ish (the second newest generation) Ford Mondeo.
Finally, in Ford GT's interior there are switches (I mean these lever thingies) near the steering wheel taken from either a Focus or Mondeo ;)

Hey I never said they were the only spare parts bins cars, they were just renowned for doing it a lot, along with early TVRs, some of which used the distinctive tail lights from the Mk 1 Ford Cortina.

It's also common in concept cars (hence the Nardo), to save manufacturing all bespoke parts.

I was once told the steering column in an Aston Martin Vanquish (I might have the model slightly wrong) was almost identical to that of the Ford Transit van around at the time, but the replacement part for the Aston cost several times more, and came in nicer packaging :)

^I didn't say that either, I just wanted to give a bit more examples :)

Well it's surely easier to actually BUILD a concept car that way than from scratch.

Vanquish fact is quite likely true, a few of my petrolhead colleagues mentioned a thing or two about that as well :D

I went to that Jaguar dealer again today, the owner had his Gallardo Trofeo there today.

Then I went to a Porsche/Mercedes/Audi dealer after that.

The rest of the pictures are customers cars in for service, including this GT3. The guy washing it was nice and let us come into the garage and look at it.

Finally published, so I can post some pics here. This was from the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca and the Pebble Beach Concours, Aug 17-19.

Soooooo many Cobras. (Literally hundreds, and they were all real!)

See what I mean? There were 45 Cobras, all original race cars, in this class alone!

I've got so much more from this weekend...

Wow Takumi, just WOW. Quite a day you had in there, huh? ;)

Some of the most stunning cars all in one place, why things like that don't happen in Poland? :grumpy:

Here are some of the pics I promised from the Lindsay Fox Car Collection.

Lindsay Fox's First ever truck. A 1957 Ford F-500. He now has somewhere around 5,000 or more trucks.

Great pics, it's funny, the Testarossa was one of my "poster cars" when I was a kid, along with the Countach and one or two others, then I got kinda meh about it, but now I love it again. I guess i've grown kinda fond of 80s styling :)

I guess Lindsay Fox likes Mercs.

Oh and you're lucky for seeing the Veyron. There's some for sale north of here in Chicago. I so badly want to see one. That and an Enzo and Koenigsegg Agera R.

I saw this at the local Lexus dealer. Even better in silver than in yelllow.

Unfortunetly, I couldn't get any good pictures because of where it's parked.

Wow, that's a pretty big way of keeping people from touching it. Is that a permanent display or just setup for the LFA?

It's strange, I've never seen it at ANY other dealer but what it is is actually a lift. They usually just have a GS or something on it but I guess they wanted to show the LFA off. But anyways, the lift raises about 20/30 feet (it's about 40/50 feet to the ceiling) and its all glass so you can see it from the highway. It's pretty neat. Then around the lift is a coy pond with fish in it.

I was in a shopping centre a few days ago buying some bread and came across this bad boy on display:

Wait, what? That is pretty cool. 👍

Last week I heard the had a Lamborghini there but it was upstairs so I missed it. It's my colleague who goes hunting for them.
