Some recent stuff. Wheels are too big/tires too thin, otherwise nice, don't see many '67's.

unexpected Aston on my way out to see about buying an XR4Ti, out in the country in a small old village suburb of a hard-hit rustbelt satellite town, if you know what I mean, on a weekday at like 4pm.

And this is the Merkur I'm considering. My Z31 is up to 195k miles, is not happy until the engine warms up, and has a sticky lifter that's getting worse on startup (takes over a minute to quiet down on occasion now.) And I had to bypass the heater core it was leaking so bad, so I've got no way to demist/defrost the windshield, and "Winter is Coming." The sticky lifter must be a mechanical issue which will only get worse, and will eventually lead to engine failure. But the immediate issue is the heater core, and to replace that means taking out the whole dash. $600+ labor. So I'm looking at possibly getting another car, and selling the Z, sad though I am at that prospect. I just can't justify putting more money into a car than it's worth. There's some rust starting here and there, the t-tops leak, the digital dash has gone blank a couple times and I know the electronics must be getting rather tired in general, and there's a bit of body damage, to the nose clip when I ice skated into a Jetta a couple winters ago, and a front panel from an old bitty who backed into me who I let go (can't ruin a grandma's day, at least I can't it turns out.) So...

But, its blower motor is shot! And a bit of work to replace it. Though the owner assures me that as long as I'm moving enough warm air will get pushed through anyways to keep the windshield defrosted, lol! 103k miles, $2200 asking, and he took me for a ride in it (unfamiliar roads, expired plates) and wow was it fun! Turbo whine and wastegate on shifting (yes 5-speed!) And really a great looking car, and one on my list to own someday. Same owner since 1993, and he got it from a Ford exec (there was a plant there then...) And well taken care of. Recently new shocks and brakes, and nothing less than fully operational. Well, except the fuel gauge and tachometer, but meh, you can watch miles, and the low fuel indicator light comes on when you have 25 miles left, and for the tach, I know the sound of 6000 RPMs. Well, and there's rust that you don't see, an Ohio car all its 103k miles and 27 years. Rust specifically where the floorpan meets the side of the car. Bad, like poke your finder through a lot. The seat's not going to fall out of the car, it still has structure, and feels solid inside, but it's unibody and integrity has been lost, can't make this into a racecar, it'll twist too mush. But it felt great on the ride, he's trusted it and I would too not to fall apart on me. But what a couple grand to fix that? Take the seats out and everything, chop out the rust, weld in new sheet metal, and put everything back together. Yeah that's a job, not something I could afford anytime soon. But to own and try the XR4Ti, even with the rust, for a year or so, that's tempting. It was surprisingly quick. What do you all think? Go for it? Or replace the Z's heater core?

And on the way home from seeing the Merkur, I spotted a 164! Turned around and pulled in a knocked, great conversation for an hour+ with the owner, and you don't see his nice daily spider which was out front here.
