It's a 49 Buick awright, and I think the Loretta has something to do with the owner... the internet said so. Certainly, it is not the model name.
And the Dakota ragtop roxorz!!
OK, after a long absence due to finishing posting all of the pictures uploaded in my photobucket, Im SO back with more than 500 picturesm anbd more than 2 gygs of MORE pics in the works. This will be a long one, so hold on to your boots.
All the coming posts are from very very recent sightings, and there are less abandoned cars and more that work, and some very cool ones, so you may like my posts more. Still, rust is rust and will always be omnipresent in my posts. That said, lest begin.
These two porsches are not my spots, but were given to me by a friend who got them in the highway with his cellphone. Hey, its the intention what counts.
This 911 looks pretty outlandish!
Found this clean Caribe GT/Golf GTI MKI everywhere else while photoshooting a Barracuda and just had to take it. It was sanitary and well styled, with what seem to be Fittipaldi wheels and in quite good shape. The difference between the mexican Caribe GT and the world-round GTI is that the aztec models lack the fuel injection, it had a two-barrel carb and made 90 hp.
CHECK
THIS
OUT!!!!!!!!!!!1
A very cool attempt at a MASSSSSSIVE chop (just look at it, the view area is the size of a mail slot) and rattlecan flames on a 1953 chevy home-grown kustom rod. Its an awesome abandoned car, incredible!!! I did not take these photos, they were given to me by the editor of the mag I work in when he went to the local dragstrip to shoot a 9-second, 572 inch Javelin, and this was parked outside. I would have taken pictures of the 40 Chevy behind it too, and I will when I go over there. This car is way cool.
A gigantic late-70s Lincoln photographed in a trim shop I freqent because of their exclusive clientele. Check out how in the rear picture it has bodywork marks on its body, and in the front pic it has all been fixed. Neat car, gigantic I say.
Neat Renault Megane RS with big aftermarket whels and modified turbo, was in said trim shop for some reupholstery and sound system instalation, it looked nice.
Tattered Maverick I found while waiting for another feature car to photograph. Its silver paint almost looked like bare metal and had Cragar knock-offs, but it was still neat.
Ohmygosh people, check this out. OK, so you all know that original 32 Fords are RA-RE, and I mean RRRRAAAAA-RRREEE, even in the US... imagine finding a Victoria in Mexico streets, this is by far one of the rarest spots of my life. The car is absolutely destroyed, but it is still there and could do a very cool hot rod with the right touches. It belongs to a local do-it-all mechanic who has upgraded it over the years. Sad but cool car.
When I was checking out the previous 32 I heard the unmistakable rumble of a V8 and no doubt, this awesomely restored 1967 Mustang hardtop blew by, wearing white-lines on stock styled wheels and eye-searing red paint. Very cool.
Then this, another Renault Megane RS with cool aftermarket touches, too bad I was just too far away and in a car going th oposite direction to check it out. I did not have the S2 with me either, instead the XTI with the basic lens so no peek-a-boo close up, but well, you get the picture of the car pretty well. Fat tires rule:
OK people, all european GTPers with a little knowledge in old euro stuff will have to help me ID this, because I have absolutly no idea of what it is... it has been stored inside a semi and truck parts shop for at least 15 years, just there, I remember passing by this place when I was like 10 and seeing it there and getting all excited about the old car; some months ago when I went to photograph a 65 Mustang around that zone, I instantly remembered and went to see.. and yes, there it was in all its forgotten glory. What is it? Im guessing Austin, but dang, I know Im wrong. Toppolino? Anyway, check out how complete and rust free it is... or at least, seems to be.
Around the corner of the unknown oldie sat this very very nice 1952 Chevy Suburban, very rare car to see in here, as they sold pooorly due to their elevated price. Nearby were three 1957 Chevys guarded by a pair of dobermans, so no pic.
From same day, a very black Fox Mustang fastback whose owner seemed pretty intrested in my feature 65 Mustang and followed us for as long as he could. If the car didnt have those tailights it would be cool.
On the way to the location we passed this 1965 Mustang hardtop in a electric shop; when we were getting the pictures, it passed by us and honked the claxon.
We were in the same place with the Mustang and this clean Civic SIR passed by and also gave thumbs up to our photographed car.
This orange 1955 Chevy Pickup truck also passed by but in the other lane, I barely managed to somewhat get it:
When rain and horrible light conditions prevented us from doing any more shots of the Mustang I convinced my dad (who went with me to the photoshoot) to search the zone for old cars; as he knows my love for rust he happily agreed and we found this common but way-cool-as-an-abandoned-car 1952 Chevy more-door in the first street we got in:
The next street netted this megaawesome Dodge Power Wagon!!! The thing seemed to be in pretty good shape even tough it had its rough spots, its a really difficult car to find in here, Ive only seen like three in all my old-car-hunting career.
In another nearby street... ok, this may seem too common, but check out its extraorinarily good shape. My dad and I were fascinated with this 1981 Ford Fairmont Wagon and its pristine, all-original shape. Why? Because he had always wanted one and in fact had a black 82, which was the car I learned to drive in, it was an awesome family car, that thing took us to more places and trips than any other family car I remember. Sadly, it was sold, but this pristine red example sure brought out the memories.
Abandoned Dodge Avenger, these things were never sold in Mexico but are now starting to pop in here because of the flexible laws of importing cars to Mexico that are ten years or older at cheap prices. But abandoned already? Come on.
One of the few old spots that made its way trough here, this Renault 8 was rusting away in one of the main avenues around my neighborhood but has since disapeared, doubtless to a junkyard because it was just too far gone.
When my parents had the restaurant one day this blew by and stopped in a nearby car wash, so I naturally followed it and entailed a conversation with the owner, who turned out to be a fellow student in the same Uni I was going. The car was pretty good but the wheels and stance were horrid. This car appeared ina featurette in the mag later on, not photographed by me though.
Interior was leather and vynil, with thumping sound system, engine was stock 289 with some lame upgrades, and the stock 3-speed manual.
This cool 1971 Chevelle was found nearby my old home about 7 years ago, it still had the I-6 but looked aaaaaaaaaaaawesome with the 5-spoke mags and THAT colour.
This post Valiant had some intresting clues, but the very intresting feature were the hoodscoops off a 1969-only Barracuda, an extremely rare part to come by... unfortunately it was gone when a friend and I tried to get them. Look closely at the front bumper... yeah, that is a tie. Got dang abandoned cars with guano rock so much.
Nothing rare, just a Ram Charger with a 360 small-block underhood, this could be a good donor to bring back to life, say, the previous Valiant, or countless Dusters, Darts, Scapms, etc etc. The engines on these thing run strong.
Oh man this thing was MEAN. When I was working at my parents restaurant, it was located in a seemingly endless straight line of pavement, so a lot of times we saw local cars being tested there... this car was one of them, a mid-70s Beetle with HUGE Webers and MSD ignition, among other goods that I dont really remember, it was like 7 years ago. The car was alarmingly fast, I saw it once at about 100 mph in the other lane, and was incredibly loud. It was AWESOME. You heard it long before you saw it, and you saw it not for long. Sorry for poor pic, had a crappy Fuji at a time.
I had already posted this late-30s Studebaker in a double-picture pic, but I somehow oversaw this shot of the thing showing its empty belly. Did you notice its being held up by a house waterpump? Pure Mexico. Thought youd like (:
You thought youd be saved from teh rice? Think again, this time with this eye-searing Cavalier with the plastered fasciae, two-tone paint and Seat Leon Cupra wheels. You know you want one.
Enough of the comeback post, Ill be posting here again weekly at least, so you wont miss the smell of rust and rotten interiors. Cheers (:
