As for ABS on, is this a habit carried over from GT?

I find with ABS off the stopping distances are too good anyhow.

Or is it just me? I don't consider myself to be a elite driver BTW.

For people using a gearbox and clutch, pull off in 2nd gear if your not already.
At least on gravel, haven't done a Tarmac race yet.

ABS for me is a carry over from GT5. I just left it on after reading a lot of people who got the game early left it on, I guess I assumed the brakes locked up easily with it off like GT5. I will try it off next time I play.

I've been playing the game for 3 days now, and went trough the first 4 seasons, so I unlocked the 6 categories that come after that.

The controls of the cars feel good, graphics are good as well, sound is very good. Fun factor is guaranteed, but I am still a bit disappointed.

Let me explain why: With DiRT3 I was expecting a real Rally game like the first DiRT, but I guess I was wrong. I was hoping for world rally championships, different countries (especially pure tarmac ones like Italy or Spain and of course the UK and Japan which have always been some of my favourites since DiRT), service areas in between rallies, more flexible tuning adjustments (changing tires for gravel, tarmac etc). It seems to me that the devs want to target as many customers as possible, not only Rally fans. I know they tried that with DiRT 2 already but I thought they wanted to go back to the roots with this one?

Don't get me wrong, the game is amazingly good and a lot of fun, but in my opinion it is still lacking RALLY, and by that I mean championships where you go from country to country and try to make it to the finish line. I hope there will be more countries to be unlocked. Why can't they make a PURE rally game anymore?

I can only hope online will be exciting...

Dirt 3 is a lot of fun. My only gripe, is that it's not that much different from Dirt 2. I was also hoping for more of rally stages to that of real life, as stated in the last post.

I do like the handling, graphics are ok and the sound is as usual pretty good. All in all I think I'll enjoy this game, at least the handling and physics are smooth. That's what's important.

In the case of Grid, I played that with a G25 and it was a blast. But you have to research the wheel settings, because default is absolutely rubbish.

Aww how can they tell porkies about the rally.
I thought this was predominantly a rally game.

Blackbean/Milestone over to you.......

Genuine Dirt 3 quote from the Aussie guy.

"being the fastest driver is a good strategy for success".

Thanks dirt 3, I'll take that invaluable tip to my grave.

Anyone is having the same problems with the controller settings? I always have to reset the controller settings when I start Dirt 3 (PC version). Not a big issue but it's not the best way to impress gamers.

Trailblazer events took me by surprise, brilliant fun.

Game gets better the more I play. Great arcade game, blistering fun. key is I never went into this thinking it'd be an unofficial WRC game or RBR.

Perhaps on PC and with a Fanatec wheel makes the difference, the draw distance and geometry is real a pleasure to drive in.

Well, im glad i rented it first. I am just not feeling this game. It lacks "passion" to me. Cars in the groups all feel and handle the same. Game felt good, looked great and sounded even better. It was fun but only held my attention for a few hours.

Same here. Just a GT5 habit. Must try turning it off next time I play.

Well, I finished the game. Mostly. I still have about thirty gymkhana missions to go. And then there's always online to keep me entertained, but there hasn't been anyone on all day.

I was hoping there would be some sort of bonus for winning the final race of the final season - like the ability to take rally cars on Trailblazer courses, for instance - but sadly, no. There's just an extended flashy video.

Roll on the DLC!

What do you mean by that? Online is impossible at the moment as far as I know...

It's called owning the game on PC/360 ;).

The online is really good though. The lag is minimal at best, and it is quite exciting to race against other people. Should probably also point out that there are flashbacks in online too, I lost a couple of races due to messing up majorly before realising it, haha.

Yeah, I go through Windows LIVE. It's pretty good, though it's very quiet at the moment.

I haven't really been racing against anyone - I've been playing the party mode games, which are pretty intense. Except for Cat & Mouse, which is a teams game.

Oh yeah, right... sorry 💡
But you mentioned flashbacks for online gaming, I don't really understand how that might work. I guess it is not possible when there are several players on the same track at the same time? You know DiRT (the first one) was so good that I played online constantly, what I also liked was the chat function inbetween races, is that available as well in DiRT 3?

Yes, there is the chat function between races - on PC at least. Also, the flashbacks actually work quite well. They are in 'real time' as such. You will be teleported back a bit from your current position at speed, but you will not be able to accelerate for the first second after you do the flashback. So it actually allows you to mess up but not entirely ruin your race, which is excellent.

Thanks 👍

Ya I am very bummed with this PSN crap. I have a bunch of friends and were just waiting to hop online. Looks so damn fun.
