I always played the Dirt games on the pad and they were great at that.

How are they on wheel? Im on G29 now.
DiRT Rally 1.0 was most satisfactory with the wheel.

You do need to set rotation down to let's say an effective 450-540 degrees (depending on preference), which can be done with with the settings in game (saturation I believe, can't remember for sure) or just in the wheel drivers. 900 degrees is too much for a rally game where you are flinging the wheel around all over the place :)

I always found that having the maximum lock setup in calibration and then using the soft lock setting switched on in the advanced settings always gave me the best results. Hopefully soft lock is still present in DR2.

I hope the option to remove the hands from the wheel is in 2.0. I love how the wheel in game mimics my G25 movements.

Pre ordered Deluxe yesterday. I almost never get deluxe versions, but the extra content did it for me. I like the idea of the early unlock cars, so I don’t have to stick to the same cars the first few times though a season. And seeing as I paid $8 for Dirt Rally, I guess this balances it out

Soft lock is still in which is awesome. Automatically sets the degrees of rotation to what each individual car should have so you don't need to worry about adjusting your on wheel settings.

^ this and the automatic detection of sequential and H shifter , that was pretty nice in dr1.

It is, from what I can tell.

Speaking of cockpit gameplay:

Veyy nice driving. Looks like this time CM took in serious the wheel handling, so this might be first codies game i play with it instead of controller.

Love that avatar stuff and presentation

I just watched Luke Reilly’s (IGN) review on YouTube. Is single player progression really tied to online connectivity or just the Team Management part?

I don't know. no matter what though, it is absolutely asinine that such a thing even *needs* online connectivity. It's single player, something that unless it's absolutely needed, then why have it? If it's for the team management...then that's just a new level of boneheadedness when it comes to features. Why the **** would you need online connectivity to move some engineers around? DiRT 4 had it offline, for god's sake!

So, I have to make a decision about which version to buy. I have Dirt 4, GT Sport and Driveclub on PS4. Dirt Rally and Pcars2 on PC. I tend to use the PS4 more simply because of convenience. However, I can't stand pop-in. It completely destroys the immersion for me.

Anybody see anything about pop-in on the PS4 in any of the reviews you have read or watched?

I read several reviews last night and I recall one of them mentioned pop in, but not a lot of it. I'm sure it hinted at slight pop in. I accessed the reviews via codies forums for the dirt series. There were loads of linked reviews and I only read the PS4 ones, though there may have been a One X review that I read as well.

Lovely footage @PJTierney .

Is it possible to remove the hands from the steering wheel in the view you used in that video?

I believe it’s possible, yes. There’s also a dash camera which is closer and doesn’t have the wheel.

I play on controller ;)

I’m hearing it’s good on a wheel though.

Can we make our own livery in this like in D4?

No.

You can choose from a number of presets.

Every time I enter My Team mode I’m connecting to RaceNet. That could be just to connect to the Daily/Weekly Challenges however.

Hello there.

Edit: Xbox One S has a 15.4gb update.

That's probably the difference between the disc and digital versions.

The "Day 1 patch" for Xbox dropped last Friday, it was about 8GB over the standard install.

I like the throwback steelbook, looks good :gtpflag:

It very well could be one extra anti-piracy measure in conjuction with Denuvo (on PC)

The online connectivity for my team appears to be linked to the fact that the daily challenges see now embedded in the main career mode menu so it's needs to connect to retrieve those. There's no sub menu for them they just sit frontfand centre alongside your career championships It's the same as going into the community events bit in dirt rally for dirt 4 with no connection. It just fails the sign in.

It is an odd decision to put them inside the my team bit though. Does worry me when recent goes down that we can't access it.

Is money and team shared between rally and rallycross career or is it completely separated?

And is weather and time of day in every race in career mode scripted or random?

The career seems to have Rallycross as part of it so the money and team will share. Then in the other modes there's a dedicated official Rallycross mode which is separate.

Edit: bit of a shame. My C3 R5 video didn't upload to Xbox DVR. Was a good one, showed a Polish stage running second in the order, very tricky being a road sweeper, low grip, difficult to judge the braking. Very good.
