Wow i see, why have exclusive tracks and cars, just bad for us sim fans..and it's not even in the latest Gtsport. A waste it seems especially when you want to have interesting content in more simlike games.

A complete waste. I really enjoyed all 3 disciplines in DR, it's a shame that CM couldn't get Pikes Peak as well at least they would have used it.

Dirt rally 2 on big discount in N.A. on psn.

Edit: found demo on psn, i never saw it before, and its 70g wow, game is 27g supposedly. Maybe the demo includes all dlc, to tempt you in buying it. I hope the base game is smaller as i intend to buy that only for now, im downloading now the demo. You can start it after 19gig.
It would be a real lack of consideration to make you use 70g of storage for a base game of 27g, especially if it's to tempt you to get all dlc.

Ouch, what have they done, just tried the demo, screen tearing in any view jeez, really dissapointing. 1st game runs perfectly on base ps4. I didn't even plug the wheel yet, and it looks cartoony, not as nice as dirt 1 for sure. Only tried 1st stage in New Zealand in sun, also on controller at least with all aids off it feels arcady and easy slow compared to dirt1. I dont know about this, glad for demo at least, might save me from a mistake. I'll try it more of course, we'll see. Maybe the fact that the game is still downloading affects optimization or it's not updated until done?
What you guys think?
Even the sound on the lancia doesn't seem as clear.

Never had that issue myself (but I have a pro) wait n see when its had updates applied, avoid old low powered vehicles I was initially put off by them...

Yeah, I'll see after its completed. Well the demo gives you only 3 old front wheel drive cars. Even the replay doesn't run as smooth, dirt1 runs 60fps always or it seems at least.

Is it supposed to be 70gigs for base game?

Sounds about right 70 gig or so it pre loads all the dlc... The physics are really good, but its like night and day between the different car classes, the higher the power the better they dance, if you like dirt 1 you will appreciate this game its much better than its predecessors IMO. Ive played more dirt 2 than GTS this year...

Part 2 requires a little more training time and feels worse than Part 1 at the beginning. Also graphically, one has the impression that Part 2 would be worse, but if you look closely, there are much prettier light moods, fog and sun effects in Part 2.

It is also possible that the demo does not have the same quality as the complete game.

Yeah, i tried the 2nd rally of the demo in spain and it looks nicer and smoother too. Also in rain and low level sun setting looks nicer. In New Zealand in the sun not so much, and even in darker time of day with headlights it doesn't look good to me. Maybe they tried to add too much light and shadow detail even on bumpy road, looks cartoony. I like the headlights in dirt1.
Also the tarmac seems better. I'll need try with my wheel later. Still downloading.
Pretty silly to have to keep 70gigs of data if you don't have the dlc.
Also maybe the grooved used roads feel slower because you're more encroached into the substract. Also maybe they made the controller easier. Hope it's good with the wheel, ill a try little later.
Edit: download is complete. The next stage i tried was smooth no tearing and looked nice. Also tried with my wheel now, was on tarmac, feels ok but not much detail, maybe because it's a smooth road.
The grip feels more defined for sure on tarmac in dr2. The sound of scrubbing tires is better, that helps too. Too bad the road is so smooth, no ondulations or bumps, just small cambers. You don't much because of that too.
The codriver lol, at the end always says that felt good or fast even if i had a broken engine and crawled like a mess to the end hehe. Pretty worthless, should say things that reflect the real situation.
Tried the 1st same stage in New Zealand and now it runs smooth and looks ok.
I like the replays now in tv style and slowmo to see the wheels and suspension and line you take in detail.

The game play is better overall if you ask me BUT I was also shocked at the graphics on the Xbox S, the remastered stages from D1 are really nice though. I'd say it's worth it but only if it's on sale or pre-owned, because you're probably gonna want most of the DLC.

Cames with the last update:

"Added ability to disable post-Stage comments at Finish Line."

Great! Because the comments were never appropriate to the situations.

Yeah it would be easy subroutine it seems to program appropriate comments according to your ranking on the stage and rally, and damage.
I'm liking the cockpit view.
The stages are a bit boring and samey it seems. Maybe its realistic but it be fun more bumps etc.
@beyond72 yeah I'm liking the more defined tarmac grip, cockpit view, tv replays, lighting overall, sounds, more severe damage etc. I'll probably get the base game for now as it's bigger discount now, then either wait for a sale on a year pass or get select dlc like the rallies added back as you say they are nicer and tarmac is better.

So I heard there was a demo available for this on the store and downloaded it.

Initial reactions are not great, there is a massive amount of screen tearing and it really spoils the game as mentioned here already.

I played dirt rally 1 for months and months and never noticed this, how could it be worse in the sequel? Does anyone else have the same issue in the full game?

Playing on a standard ps4.

Anyone noticed this about replays, they are 30 frames per second, and if you quit the replay, just as it ends the replay changes to a super smooth looking 60 frames, just for the last second or so, man, why cant the replays be like that...

I have noticed that.

Replays in general is not something special in this game even if it was 60fps. I think it looks better during the gameplay and immersive and not as good during the replays (the details are increased though but still...)

Ahh I see, thanks for the heads up.

Scanned the comments but didnt see this. Good to know though :)

New Zealand stages aren't the most exciting with slow muddy roads. And the slow cars in the demo. I'm on the fence, I'm hoping for fun stages like Finland in dirt 1, with a late 90s Subaru was fun.
Also i could do without the elevator music lol.
Just tried the d21 car on wet tarmac in spain and to me it feels great and believable and looks great in replay too with weight transfer. And good tire skidding sounds.
I noticed though the lighting makes it hard to see when its. darker sections but easier in the regular cockpit view. For 3rd person view i prefer dirt1 i think.
Ill get the base game for sure and pay for added rally locations.
Replay looks amazing in wet tarmac Spain.
Looks like a pursuit in an old Bond movie lol.

What's funny is i went flying over a cliff and it put me back on the road with a few seconds penalty and didn't seem to have any damage. Even though i put hardcore damage on. It's a relief and disappointment hehe.
Are the remastered stages more detailed in road surface? Any changes? Is there the degradation and more weather conditions etc? And can you use them in career mode?

Replays like this? They are and can replay at 75fps+

I made a mistake and bought the base game deal, then i noticed a better deal for 32cad with seasons 1 and 2included for 8 dollar more than the 24$ i paid grr.
And I'm liking the game more each i try it so I'm interested in getting as much content as can.
Edit: hehehe I'm loving it now, just tried the kadett in Poland and Spain, really good. For me the physics are much refined and the ffb is great. You can feel the weight alot better than in dr1 and the traction even on tarmac. It feels bloody amazing haha.
The replays are pretty damn good too.
The sound better than in dr1 even.
Looks like I'll buy the year pass or most dlc at least.
I didn't start a career really per say but it does seem barebones, i wish they did a full involving career with a real space for service where you can tinker on your car and talk to your team, and feel like you are progressing in a real career. Oh well, hopefully next time. Also dynamic weather would been nice of course.
The replay in poland with the Kadett looks like the pursuit in an old Bond movie with Roger Moore haha, where he jumps a broken bridge and makes a side tumble, maybe it's The man with a golden gun or something hehe. When i see the leader ahead on the timer bar i feel im pursuing.:D
Cheers guys.
Just got the Germany rally and its much better. It feels so much better.

Honestly i think they chose the worse parts for 1st impression in that demo.
New Zealand stage degraded at night in rain looks not so great and is slow easy not exciting. Especially the headlights make the trees look cartoony. And slow old front wheel drive cars. I like them but the combination makes it a slog to start with. And you can't see the road well at night or in dark parts unless using the cockpit view which many might not. But it is my prefered view in dr2 and generally. Just my 2 cents, because now i bought the game and tried different situations and I'm loving it.

I'm getting the remade rallies and unique cars but not so much rallycross. Hope they add more and new rallies. And make the career more involving and immersive too.
Germany with the new handling, replays, sounds and look make it a joy and i don't see myself going back to dr1 now.
Also the ffb and feel on my g29 on base ps4 is great and i feel the car perfectly on dry or wet tarmac and even in earthy muddy New Zealand. And physics are great to me, natural feel and easy to drive until you push it more near the limit, then it's challenging but still intuitive feeling.
And great crashes that look believable in replays too. And when you land jumps you feel it really well on the wheel and sounds and look from cockpit.
Each car feels totally unique and good, the frontwheel drive ds21 feels heavy and understeery in a good way, and Kadett rear wheel drive is great on any surface.
It be fun if roads had a lil more bumps especially on tarmac, you feel the road and car even more and makes it a fun challenge even more.
Also the braking seems too grippy and effective to me even on old cars with old tires i presume. But they are lots of fun, it's been a while since a game made me giggle like this from having so much fun, even watching the replays.
Cheers.
Oh and im so glad this is optimized on std ps4 running smoothly in all modes even replays for most part.
Edit: got and tried monaco now and same thing it's a joy now on asphalt with some ice snow. In dr1 it was a waste for me mostly and i didn't feel to drive it.
Edit 2: just tried the dlc Porsche, not the r-gt, the other i forget the name, super fun good feel. Replays super cool. Love it.
Started the career mode with it, had no money for repairs so i was carefull for my headlights especially.
I was on wet tires in dry tarmac and and wobbly wheel and it felt great and believable. And fun.
Edit 3: just tried Australia, whew my god i got my wish for a bumpy rally. And fast too on half tarmac half gravel wet red baked earth. Pretty crazy fun challenge, not sure if it's degradation or the stage design but it's cool. I wonder whats the degradation on tarmac, maybe dirt on road or broken asphalt. This game is a jewel, i almost skipped it.

Ah yh hehe, im getting it for sure. One of the most fun rallies. Is there special events thru the career? Does it include remastered rallies if you have them? Not sure how the online challenges fit in this career. Maybe you know about it @MarcoM.
