DIRTY RACERS

PD if you’re reading this. Races like this, and people like this are why the game needs a report function.

This was SR S, in the fia race.

Need to report myself after this one, Mount Panorama is a track I just cannot get on with!!

I started playing online this week and man I totally get where Seb Vettel comes from! So, I'm doing the FIA nations race and its a 10 lap kart race around Brands Hatch. I get pole and lead the whole race until I reach a backmarker on lap 10 who like an utter tool started weaving left and right to try to keep me behind and long story short I spun out due to his antics and finished runner up!

It made me wonder though, I'm originally from England but living in Canada now and as such GT pits me against North, Central & South Americans and the standard of driving is pretty poor. I wanted to ask what it is like racing in Europe, can any one shed any light as I am considering racing under my UK PSN.

Uhum... standards of racing in the Americas is pretty poor. Have always been like this...

Senna, Piquet, Fittipaldi, Fangio, Sainz, Villeneuve (both), Foyt, Unser, Andretti, Montoya, Kanaan, Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Earnhardt, Pastrana, Ken Block...

Forgive us (Americans) father for we know not what we do.

You said the SR ranking was S what was the DR ranking of that race?
5 of us who qualified P1-P5 were DR. A, there was 1 DR. C and 2 DR. D, the balance was DR. B

The guy causing the carnage was DR. B - and after the race was talking in chat about how he was "just having some fun"

I think we have all been there, no matter what you do you gotta stay positive, if you see yourself getting frustrated take a break, it helps! Today I had a bumpy start with couple of guys bumping me a little (nothing major) but i thought oh well nothing I can do about that. If you stay patient you will definitely enjoy the game more than those drivers who drive uncleanly.
Heres a video from today:

Best bit at 1:07, love it when it happens  won a race thanks to that.

I agree 100% that the whole SR is pointless as it is implemented and the way matchmaking happens with DR is ill conceived.

I'm waiting to show up on one of these videos because I am ruthless at retaliatory actions. :D Although, I'm good enough to make sure I don't involve anyone else in it.

Griefers aside, there's also a MAHOOSIVE problem with entitlement. I see it all the time. Someone is running up front, something happens to them, and they come back through the pack like every position between where they are now and where they were is a nuisance and everyone should just move over and bow to their greatness. They're angry and one player, but take it out on everyone else along the way.

I've said a billion times. the SR needs to be FAR more punishing to be of any use. The only reasoning for it to not be is that it's buggy and dishes out penalties for stupid things. For instance, cutting a corner slightly is not the equivalent of running someone off the track. Right now, exiting a race is FAR more punishing than anything truly unsportsmanlike.

And here's the real kicker. Soon, all except the very best, will realize that none of it makes a lick of difference and will abandon daily races. Most players already don't bother and they stick to their own lobbies. That's a shame because the dailies dish up some of the best racing. But, let's face it, aside from prestige, the only reason to have a high DR is to score more points in the FIA races. You want more points so you have a shot at the "top 24", but that's a very narrow few. 99.9% of players (myself included) are never going to get there with their best efforts, so why bother? In my experience, my "reward" for being an A/S driver is to end up in rooms with top ranked players where I have have a snow ball's chance in hell of winning ever again.

Do these names look familiar? http://www.jasonguernsey.net/gts/Leaderboards <- I am not that good and I doubt I will ever be. I am a controller guy and I am middle aged, so there are limits to what I can achieve. I'm also happy with my skill level.

Why SHOULD people drive clean and be sportsmanlike? It's in their best interest to do the complete opposite. If I were to completely tank my ratings, and I mean tank them right down to the bottom, what is the downside? I get easy pole positions and easy wins. That sounds more like a reward than a punishment.

Easy wins aren't fun, maybe one to begin youre day with. But after few it's not fun. Like it more when youre equal, and you have to give everything you got. And you don't need to be fair, if you don't want to. The game will sort it out, you have bought the game, it's all up to you how you play it, IMO. Though i like being fair, and little aggresive, and expect the same from others.

I think the trophies are also a part of the problem, you need to have a lot of wins and pole positions. So for the trophy collectors there is no reward in having a clean race as it doesn't help with the wins. It actually gets much harder to win because the competition gets much better on the higher levels.

Maybe they should change the trophies to getting x amount of clean races?

That guy in the Megane did the same to me today! Tried to knock me into the pit lane after I got alongside him coming out the last corner :)

Today on the Daily Race nr3:

I started 15th and went up to 5th. I was overlapping the 17th guy on the 9/10 lap and he just pushed me out of the track on prupose. Then he waited for me and did the same, 3 times!!! I've done anything to him to justify this beahvior. Sad!

Oh, and im racing on B-S.

Something similar happened to me.

I got a win tonight in one of the races, funny part was a Megane driver was being dirty, he wiped out the first palce car then I passed them to first place and then he attempted to take me out but failed and then he quit the race.

Why is it when I encounter a dirty driver it has to be a Megane driver?

Here's the video, I braked a tad late and went through the Megane but didn't seem to affect anyone, and then he cuts through and tries to wipe me out.

Thankfully my latest race in the manufacturers series had less dirty driving but sadly I did have a stupid mistake that cost me dear!

This is the default behavior of every lapped car I see on track until now :guilty:, Im avoiding long races.

Some examples of only one race:
