<Insert explanation of poll that was described perfectly in title here>

Well, I have cruise and I use it all the time. In the speed camera dominated environment that is Australian urban driving, this little feature has saved me probably close to $2-3000. And no, I don't doze when I'm on it, I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing - looking out the window trying not to hit stuff.

I also do a lot of interstate driving, and it's a Godsend for long trips.

I live 35 miles from work so I tend to use it quite often. I also have a good friend that lives 150+ miles north of me so I use it on those trips as well. Cruising at 100mph in cruise control is quite nice.

And yes, when inclined, it keeps me out of tickets as well.

Ha - I've tried that. I was quite shocked to find our old Vectra's cruise worked at 180kmh. Still, being German designed, you'd have hoped so.

How goes the Complex String, Loud?

As you can see, I got a bit bored this morning (my time) when the boards seemed slow.

Well, my friend that goes with me on those trips brings his radar detector, and in addition to that, there was a Mustang about 500 meters ahead of me most of the way. We refered to him as the "Ticket Collector".

Complex String ... I'd rather have my right pointer finger smashed by an airhockey puck. Oh wait, that happened tonight too!

Yesh, quite bored indeed. But you make better than average threads when you're bored. At least they're usually related to the focus of this site.

Aw shucks :embarrassed:

Sadly, the fine for carrying a radar detector in this state is higher than the fine for carrying an illegal handgun....

This is true, and why I personally don't own one. The thing that freaked me out ... on the way home that very trip, I passed a State Trooper who was parked in the median of the highway with a LASER speed detector. Our radar detector didn't even flinch. Luckily I was in no hurry and was driving reasonably over the speed limit.

cruise control is great especial on a long trip it means one less thing to do like watching your speed

also in something like the Jag you can even here the motor at low speed and it is so easy to go pass the speed limit with out even knowing it. even at speed like a 100 kph in the Jag speed is so deciving you feel like your hardly moving to cruise control is helps you from speeding

Yes, and yes.

It's required on long trips, and also helps to keep you out of trouble. I usually just set it to 65 (mph) and stay to the right. Let the speeders fly by in the fast lane and get nailed.

Edit: My girl's afraid to use it, says she feels like she's not in control. I tried to show her that it only takes a tap of the brakes to deactivate, but she wants nothing to do with it! She once drove from MA to SC using the pedal (her car has cc)

I think my 323 has cruise, not sure. I'd never use it. I like being able to just go at my own rate all the time. And Mazdas cruise control shuts off if you try to accelerate with it past 90mph, so you have to get up to as fast as you want and then set it. We know all the tricks here. My dad uses it a lot, my mom hates it. My brother rarely if ever uses it. Of course with his driving you wouldn't have a chance to use it. :)

Bingo.

She's not the best driver but has improved quite a bit in the last couple of years. I don't think she'd ever be able to drive a manual tranny. She has enough trouble differentiating left and right...when giving directions from the passenger seat she'll say "take a" and then point.

"Take a -point-, then turn towards your -point-, after the 2nd stopsign go -point-" :P :P

I use mine occasionally. Living in texas we have lots and lots of highways. When my feet are hurting (usually driving home from work) is when i use it the most.
