Any rally specialists out there who can help me set up my rally-built prize cars? I'm not interested in dumping 300 extra horsepower and dirt tires onto an LM car and blowing through it.

I know my way around the underside of a car well enough, but I can't seem to get my rally prize cars dialled in.

I've just started the rally section and I only have 1 or 2 rally cars in my sim game, but they don't handle at all like the arcade versions. I'm comfortable and fairly quick running the arcade rally races and win them without much difficulty, but the sim cars have a generic suspension tuning that doesn't offer the same rotation or feel. I've tried the usual adjustments to loosen the cars up, but it's just not the same.

Can anybody offer some pointers? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem as you. I had played with the settings to the point where I was getting tunnel vision.

But for me, my real problem was the way I drove. In a normal tarmac track, you never really hold the brakes down all of the way because of "left-foot braking." In a rally I usually brake hard and don't touch the acceleration while braking, this caused the cars to be looser through the tighter turns (u-turns and sharp corners) and it makes it easier to powerslide. For the lighter curves brake a little before hand and accelerate through the last half of the turn. You have to remember that these are 4-wheel drive cars and they handle differently than FF or FR cars. Another thing to remember is to not overpower the cars (especially the Skylines and the Impreza LM) because, like other cars, they don't handle as well. Soften the springs and raise the car a little. Go easy on the down force too, if it's too high, every time you go over a jump, you'll be looking at the sky and not the track.
Note:Do not try and drive this way in the wet courses, those require smooth braking and accleration.

/\ like he said....

soften that suspension and raise the car. i nearly always find myself lookin at the sky on jumps tho :/
lessen the rear downforce i guess, or put heaps on the front.
