Does anyone know of a cockpit that puts the shifter by your thigh?

Does anyone know if there is a cockpit that lets you put the shifter by your thigh, like most cars?

All the ones I've seen have it beside the wheel, feels really akward.

I think the VRS seat does too.

I've got the Playseat Evo.. It's really very nice but the gearshift is too low. It feels like an Opel.

Correct for a road car (well most), purpose built race cars will always have the shift placed as close to the steering wheel as they can. The shorter the distance the less time you have your hands off the steering wheel and the less time it takes to reach the shift lever.
