The Womens title match seemed very sloppy in a lot of places. Like they really didnt want to put on a good match. I heard claims that Charlotte was sandbagging

I heard rumors that they were not getting along backstage before the match so I wasn't really looking forward to it, also the build for it in recent weeks has been horrible with two trainwrecks of interview segments. The match sort of went as I thought but it was a surprise to see Tiffy retain, I'm happy for her though.

Bayley was pulled from Mania yesterday after a backstage attack angle, she is not actually injured as far as I know so I have no idea why WWE have done that, she is very well liked and respected backstage so she's been getting some sympathy, there are rumors that her replacement in the women's tag match will be Becky Lynch.

Honestly, I was looking forward to it in the sense it would be so bad it's good, but sadly Tiffany won, which was the right decision but Charlotte winning would've been the cherry on top of horrible to complete it. So I couldn't like it ironically.

That Main Event was garbage.

It went through 3 phases and it all went wrong.

Starts off being as tone deaf as 🤬 possible, then turns to any TNA Main Event in the Dixie Carter era, then it ends on a Steven Universe tier dilemma that shows aimed at 5 year olds tell you is wrong.

But hey you got your 18* Title win moment, just had to ruin a match and future storylines . Nice moment.

Second night was way better than the first.

Opening match was excellent. Sky Belair and Ripley just have great chemistry and the match flowed so well, Sky retaining feels like a good choice. I had a feeling it would be Joe Hendry! Really happy for him to get his moment. Dominik is the new IC champ and it was popular as it got the loudest pop of the night, he actually pinned Balor too. Becky Lynch did return like many predicted and both her and Lyra are new tag champs with Lyra now a double champ.

Drew won a fairly standard street fight but it was still pretty good, Paul did beat Styles but i didn't really care.

As for the main event, it wasn't great. No surprise to me that Cena won.

Both triple threat matches tied for match of the weekend for me, they were superb.

Have to give massive props to Drew and Damien the idea of them feuding was not the best idea and they both deserved better BUT they were able to turn that underwhelming idea into a really fun feud with a good match to boot. Definitely one of the underrated Mania matches

I got the feeling either Summerslam or Survivor Series is going to be the PPV of the year due to the build up they’re making due to Cena retiring (now a possibility rather than a fact)… And that his final match is gonna be with The Rock somehow, my idea is… Rock betrays Cena, Rock becomes champion (enforcing his “final boss” mantra), Cena either retires or starts a “redemption” storyline and if the latter happens… (Face) Cena vs. Rock for the belt at WM42!

If doesn’t… Cody vs. Rock for the belt at WM42! The idea is simple, the pop the fans did after Survivor Series 2014 (end of the authority storyline) or Cody’s WM40 win. A.K.A, the MOST satisfying pop due to a storyline ending ever! (Overall one was CM Punk returning @ Chicago) 👍

Completely forgot about it but we need to talk about that Stone Cold segment, oh my god!

firstly he got lost on his way to the ring and he had to be helped which was why he took so long to actually appear, secondly he crashed his quad bike in the barrier which caused a lady to fall over, Stone Cold had to apologize to her than he did his attendance stuff, Nick Khan went over to see if she was alright before Stone Cold went over to apologize again, I think he was drunk before he had those beers!

Nothing much announced for Raw after Mania tonight thus far, only that Jey Uso and John Cena will be there.

Well now we sit through nostalgia/big money driven consumerable slop WWE Title matches with no real story relevance until Cena finally drops the belt like we never left the Bloodline era in the 🤬 first place. That doesn't even need the title in the first place. Exactly what I was afraid of (and was more right than I thought with how the main event turned out)

Why am I watching wrestling again?

Cena vs Orton

Bill Murray Christmas Movies GIF by filmeditor

Kinda glad I stopped pay attention. Heyman segment was just to add Bron Breakker and make it a stable, not really adding to the story or existing characters to explain things and get more involved unless you really like Bron Breakker. Wouldve been disappointed

Cena started the show off with a promo, Randy Orton hits him with an RKO.
Liv and Raquel regained the tag titles, Becky turns on Lyra and attacks her after.
Rusev returns and takes out Alpha Academy.
Stephanie Vaquer and IYO Sky had a great match until Roxanne Perez, Giulia and Rhea Ripley got involved.
The Usos and Sami Zayn reunite to celebrate Jey's world title win.
Gunther attacks Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.
Dominik retains his Intercontinental title with help from a returning JD McDonagh.
Bron Breakker aligns with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman as they attacked CM Punk and Roman Reigns.

As far as Raw after Mania goes that was pretty wild!

At least appreciate its one of, if not the last ever Cena vs. Orton in history, and this time Orton is face! :D

Minor update. The Universal Championship is now officially retired.

To add to do this, they have retconned it to be that it has been retired ever since Cody Rhodes won it and his 378 day reign as Universal Champion is no longer recognised. John Cena never won the Universal Championship

Gotta keep the 17 agenda for the "moment" I guess

To be fair it was nothing more than Roman's vanity belt when he went to Smackdown and they reintroduced the WHC to Raw, so it was effectively defunct by that point anyway. I doubt anyone will really care, other than wondering why WWE didn't just unify the Universal and WWE titles when Cody won them in the first place.

Thats the point of why it took Cody to lose it to officially retire it, just to retcon it out of him (aside from the win itself) anyway.

Would save headaches of people who were actually paying attention bringing up 18 and people trying to say it was retired all along when thats now only true in retcon

For a bit I had a suspicion that they kept it around to consider using it as a sort of "#1 Contender's belt" that would bounce between both brands and (theoretically) give more legitimacy to anyone challenging for the WHC or WWE title, but other than the fact that there are both red and blue versions of the Universal title I couldn't really figure out how the logistics of that would even work, especially since the MITB briefcase exists.

My fault for trying to apply WWE2K booking logic to the real world, I guess

Watch this space - doing a bit of a spreadsheet/database for ALL World Championships (but using my rules and being consistent on what's recognised and not, etc) for both Men's and Women's sides.

On this particular note, I have considered the Universal Championship as unified/retired as of WrestleMania 38, with Reigns beginning a WWE Championship reign that begins at WM38. Keeps Cena at 17

As a very casual observer it's amusing how seriously people take these numbers.
We wrestling nerds love our stats :sly:

(Like how if you count Ice Ribbon's ×∞ (pronounced Cross Infinity and yes that's it's name) Championship as a world championship like Wikipedia does, then the youngest world champion in pro wrestling was Riho who won it for the first time when she was 12...also not made up)

Honestly, at least the length of reigns lost all meaning when champions can go for months without being on the show and by our most recent example of Roman Reigns, long =/= good
