Doh moments in GT6

I remember punching my G27 once during a race but don't remember what it was, probably a shifter kart race though.(nevermind, it was on Nascar The Game 2013)
And I've bought the M4, Evoque and MiTo just to earn them right after the very next race.

Doing a handbrake turn across over the finish line only to realize the finish line is further ahead or it wasn't the final lap.

Not realizing there was 10 seconds left on a timed race at Nordschleife. Crossed the finish line at full speed, smashed into the wall and dropped to 3rd

Buying racing tires only to find out the race only accepts sports tires.
Racing an opponent behind while on severely worn tires only to find he had already been lapped :P

What are your doh moments in GT6?

all these things you mentioned seem to be about not paying enough attention :)

The Doh! Moment which happened more than once for me was with the fact you can shift into reverse but have to manually shift out of it get moving again after a spin. It's a nice touch and all but after going backwards after a minor spin simply because it doesn't automaticity shift to 1st more than a few times, it's does grind my gears abit.

When I enter 24 minutes of Le Mans and mid-way thought 1st lap it starts raining and I remember: "I didn't buy intermediate or rain tyres..."

You did good actually. Not only they are expensive, but regular dry tires perform better in wet track for some odd reason :/ Same as it was in GT5.

Don't know if it qualifies , but I twice bought the wrong car and wasted money. Right at the beginning of the game ( when my bank was very low ) , I bought a Supra for the Japanese oldies event. Modded it and spend a lot of money on it , only to find when I tried to enter the event it must be 80's Japanese not 90's. Had to grind again for money and buy an 80's car.

Second time I really wasn't paying attention and bought a base model of a race car when I wanted the race livery one. That mistake also cost me plenty credits lol :)

Getting a rear wheel on the grass in a corner while having my foot firmly on the gas. Shwoo!

And sadly I recognize the premature celebratory handbrake turn all too well.,..

I just remembered another one - desperately trying to reverse a 125cc kart after bumping into a wall. I shifted into R, then pressed the accelerator button, but it wouldn't back up. Well, I thought it made sense, as most karts can't reverse anyway.

It turned out that I actually could reverse the kart just by holding the shift down button.

While racing at the 10 lap Suzuka event. My rear tires "gave up the ghost" on the final lap. I made it to the chicane before the final turn. I tried to navigate the corners gingerly, but I spun. Needless to say I went from 1st to 9th...it took a while to get underway again.

Getting lost at Daytona

I was leading on the final lap at Daytona night race and crashed into the barrier at turn 5. Got back on track and somehow ended up at turn 3. Dropped to last place :P

This happens quite often...be it nurburgring, silverstone, deep forest etc...whatever track.

Im driving like regular speed, everythings cool, im enjoying the race....
suddenly some corner approaches too fast.
I panic, and try to make a hard turn in with braking, my wheel table moves a lil bit and i spill my drink....DOH!!

gotta pause and do a clean up....DOH!!

You must normally drive very smoothly and not turn the wheel extremely fast to just think a table moving a little bit is unusual. I'm very erratic with the wheel almost all the time.

Once, I was handling the wheel so harshly that I ripped the entire wheel assembly of the bracket. It came loose in my hands and for the next few seconds I was still trying to drive with the whole wheel flapping around in the air force feedback and all. It must've looked like I was handling a alligator cos my friend who was watching me was dying of laughter for about a minute.

Its funny cos my priority was still trying to control the car instead of stopping.

My Doh! moments were:

Entering one of the NA Series Races, going into car settings and buying a Turbo!

Spending at least an hour trying to defeat High Speed Ring with Nascar only to find that the event wasn't 70% power limited

Buying the GT by Citroen (one of them, can't remember which) as I figured I could increase the top speed to use in events...only to find out it's an electric and transmission can't be changed!

Oh man, what did you do to your wheel trying to gold the x1 events in GT5? Bite it? lol

Someone gifted me the X1 before that trade limitation thing so I haven't even done them, I think I just have a bronze in Monza. At that time I had a DFGT.
The week that GT6 got released I went through the remaining events in GT5, still no luck with the X1 ones.

I modified my car to make it quicker in the race and realised that it was only for unmodified cars only. I completely forgot to scroll down the see the regulations. :ouch:

I was doing some drag races with a friend, and i was trying to place myself correctly...And then while he was full throttle, I was going in reverse because I forgot to change to 1st gear :banghead:

With GT6 I has more "doh moments" than with GT5 by far... It's very easy made a little mistake that cost you the race. I see it like a good feature, it's more challenging... at least to me.

I did that at the Start of a race the other night  and it's even more crappy because I was starting at the front of the pack.

Had a hilarious "D'oh" moment online tonight. A few buddies and myself had a spec race on the smallest Matterhorn circuit, the first time any of us had really been on it. Several of us were exiting the pits during practice mode at the same time, to all simultanously be suprised that you are given control well before the pit exit, which is a T junction. None of us knew whether we were supposed to turn left or right, most of us went right, meanwhile another friend was already on track and reaching said pit exit.

The result was a complete pile up and uncontrollable laughter, shame you can't save replays from practice mode.

I've done everything the OP has lol, and also as someone above has mentioned, reversing, and then accelerating forward wiithout shifting back up. Also, I've been in an online race, under false start, I started in R gear, so yeah, it was pretty silly. Luckily no one was behind me.

^^ Talking of reverse gear.....

Now reverse is toggled on and off with triangl, I often forget that I need to re-select 1st gear.
It always ends up with me aimlessly reversing into a wall or other drivers online whilst trying to park.

biggest "DOH!" moment so far:

Entering an online room.. title said "Clean Realistic 450pp"

1st Doh: 450pp on racing softs with NOS?
2nd Doh: No "clean" racing at all...
3th Doh: Host changes settings every 2 minutes and eventualy we are racing the red bull cars...

DOH!!! 10 minutes of my life wasted due to a race title that should have been "Host changes setting till he wins" :D

I see what you did there :D

On the back straight at Daytona zipping along and I forgot I was on the road course and suddenly a wall appears out if nowhere...

First run at Le Mans, 3rd lap just passed Indy/Arnage on way to Porsche Curves etc and the car suddenly slows down. After a few seconds of WTF I realise that it's endurance time and I'd run out of fuel...

Running 1st at Le Mans and the timer is ticking down, but at my current pace I'll go onto lap 7. If I pit then I'll lose the lead (pitted on 2 and 4) if I go to lap 7 I'll run out of fuel. So my cunning plan is to coast, hold up the AI and run the clock down. Car in 3rd pits, so just got to hold of the car in 2nd. I'm busy looking at the mirror and blocking and I run wide, suddenly the car in 2nd gets past on the last corner the clock runs down, he wins and I'm second...

I want to do the one make Ferrari 458 race, so off to the dealership, where I promptly buy a Ferrari 430...

I was running 1st at the Matterhorn Riffelsee, went too fast up the steep hill and it launched the car into the air. It looked like it was going to fly over the barrier. But the invisible wall blocked it. The car spun around a few times and landed upside down while the other cars went past me.

Ended up last and achieved the accident prone trophy :P
