what, you mean thats a real word? i thought it was made up especially for Neighbours...

Sure is but it's definition isn't really that pleasing or shall I say acceptable :P. Unless you'd like to chuck one of us a pm to find it's meaning... ;)

I never have my accent made fun of, mainly because I don't think I have an accent. But I do occasionally lull into copying others accents, mainly indian because I work with alot of them.

hey mike, you mean you got this bilge in SA?

i thought it only made it to the UK after a very tragic accident and the tapes were accidently shipped here instead of the incinerator in Brisbane

We had it ages ago (4-5yrs ago). The first series was ok, then the cranky hairdo's and 70's feel sort turned me off.

There was a stage when we got a few Aussie series. Thankfully neighbours didnt last the distance :)

does america still have people going around saying things are "tight"? It was used a lot around the time I moved but apparently (and luckily) it never made it over to canada.

It's "mad tyte yo", get it right.

Truthfully, I never ever hear people actually talk like that anywhere, except that certina segment that does it on this kind of forum and people that watch too much MTV. I guess I need to hang around in the ghetto more.

I've said "mad tyte yo" a few times being funny, but other than that I don't think I've ever heard anyone actually say it. I'm pretty sure that phrase originates somewhere far, far away from the ghetto.

I have no accent, and I'm thankful for that. Nobody born and raised in my area does, actually. North Carolina residents have a terrible accent, they all talk like hicks, and slurr it like they're drunk on top of it, even if they're sober.

Try being Australian, and listen to the tortured attempts at Aussie accents. Leno's about the only American I've heard get close. There's an Irish comedian (Ed Byrnes) who's got it down pat - that's about it.

The Simpons in Australi episode - very funny, but the accents weren't close (yeah, that was part of the joke, I know...).

wait for the english episode (if you haven't seen it yet) I wonder if the english is just as lame.apparantly Tony blair and his voice is in it that episode

"Or it will be my ass on the barbie!"

In my English class we are studying the foreshadowing throughout Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Swyer and Huck Finn. well, we have this Vietnamese girl in our class with a heavy accent. And as many of you may know, the book has alot of "the n words" in it. when this girl reads its the funniest damn thing to hear her say ''the n word'' it comes out something like "neecker."

So long as u show her some respect man. I've known people who were hurt badly when people laughed @ their accents too much. Frankly, I can't see why people think some accents are funny. Granted, the episode of law and order a few days ago made me laugh my @$$ off but...after I thought about it, it really wasn't that funny (ok, yes it was...but that was their intent with the guy's accent)
