Actually, I was talking to the owner of 3 Lexus SC400s, and he says that the V8 motors will last up to and beyond 1,000,000 km. You're fine and dandy for getting there. Just don't crash it, or spill anything that smells *really* bad. :grumpy: as I did once, stupid sunblock!

Good luck with it. :) đź‘Ť

I think there's one with 620,000 miles on Club Lexus, and that was years ago. If it hasn't been wrecked, I imagine it's still puttering around somewhere. Hell, it's hard to find an SC400 with less than 200,000 miles for sale around here. I think there's an LS430 used by someone who runs a small livery cab service that has over 300,000 on it. Hopefully the leather and paint are still in good condition if I ever make it up to that kind of mileage. :P

Just do your best to avoid the UV damage and... Sandstorms? Do you get sandstorms in AZ?

Both of those are a big hazard here. Just a few days ago I saw a newish Altima, couldn't have been more than six years old, and it already had the most awful oxidation all over its black paint. Dust storms, or haboobs as they're called, happen in June and July and can make your car look like it's spent a day in Saudi Arabia if it's bad enough. This car sits in the garage almost constantly, so the paint's still pretty shiny. At least we don't have to worry about rust. :dopey:

Those pictures make me feel like I'm in Arizona again ah by the way your car looks nice. I swear if I see a black Lexus I'm gonna roll down my window and scream dooog

Well that's just peachy.

Please don't. A friend of mine has a black Lexus. It's more common than you think, and you're likely going to give the owner the creeps.

Doog, I'm thinking I might never visit Arizona now; I've heard that it hurts, when people have to pick grains of sand out of your eyes with tweezers. :ouch:  oh, the weird things people talk about.

I live there and I have never had to do that I've been to the sand dunes so many times.

"Do I need a sarcasm sign?"

 sorry, I've been to a desert before... I'm allowed to joke around... And I'm rarely serious. Seriously. Don't worry.

It does not have satellite radio.

I'm sure the deterrent design is in the fact it is a cassette player. :P

Still a very nice Lexus. đź‘Ť

I can count the amount of times I've used it in three years on one hand...zero. :P

That wood piece below the radio pops open to the disk tray. I think it holds about six disks, but I just listen to the radio.

Yup, still like it đź‘Ť It's making me seriously consider one of the slightly older LS400s as my next car. I don't do many miles (in my own cars, at least) so the gas mileage and UK fuel prices don't worry me too much. Worth it just to waft about isolated from the outside world...

That, and you can get an LS400 with loads of history and in great condition for not a lot of money at all, here. One of the cheapest ways into a V8...

Parking could be an issue, what with it being a large car, moreso by UK standards I'd imagine. Maneuvering it around smaller villages over there could be a bit awkward as well; small, tight turns are a bit challenging. Other than the size-related difficulties, visibility is pretty good, it's as reliable as any normal Toyota and is comfortable enough to drive for hours at a time without feeling drained. I'd recommend it, but I'm biased as hell...

Yeah, I can imagine parking being an issue, but on the plus side I rarely park anywhere that isn't a parking lot these days. Rarely have to shuffle it into a roadside space! Older LS400s and late-90s Jaguar XJ6s have my attention at the mo. The Lexus is a little more refined and the Jag a little sportier.

I've a friend with an LS400 so might blag a go in it to see what they're like.
