Hello my fellow Forza community.

Out there amongst us lives a RATer hater and his cronies.
Let me explain.

If a design is similar to there own they will rate yours down. Even better they get there mates to do the same. Why?

I recently added a Dyno pincher 63 beetle to the SF for free. Took a lot of time to make and I was quite proud. Just to say in not the greatest painter but I get by.

It was doing ok ish in a world dominated by Herbies but thats fair enough. Top 15 in highest rated etc.

Turns on my box this morning and it's been attacked by idiots by down rating. I suspect the individual hadn't got a massive following as he got it down to 3 1/2 stars.

I did a search of Dyno Pincher in the add description box on the 63 beetle.
Low and behold 2 other designs did crop up by the same guy.
Not to sound too bitter but they were crap. Described as 99% accurate (my arse). But doing well on the ratings.

I've had this before with a Celica gT4 replica I made. Offered for free it was doing great until one day 2stars rating.
Search for similar design and the top guy had one for 50.000cr. Good design though. But he had some terrible others designs. Example. 2 stripes added to a car. 200 downloads at 50.000 a piece.

Obviously some shinanigans going on there.

I don't like this rating system TBH. I would prefer a like system like Facebook or something.

I guess all systems are there for abuse.

Forza (community's ) dirty little secret.

End rant.

The rating system in Forza is a joke. The hate ratings happen to tuners too...it's all about who you know, not how good your work is a lot of the time.

I doubt people care about ratings when it comes to designs. If you see a design and it looks good, why does the rating matter? Is there a benefit to having a high rating? With tunes it's different as you depend on download/rating numbers to make a decision. However, I have also noticed a lot of the good tunes from top tier tuners/clubs get down rated by rivals.

There most definately is a good reason to have a high rating mate.

99% of users search by highest rated or most downloaded.
There are many great designs that don't see the light of day because there lost in a sea of obscurity.

Think about it. You may select highest rated and scroll down maybe 40 at most.

Meh.

You should only be to rate stuff you buy :(
Fezz, the thing is, people will buy your stuff just so they can downrate it.

I think some people do use the ratings to decide which designs they want to download too....not as much as tunes though. If you read some of the foolishness that goes on in the Tuning Marketplace on the official forums regarding tuners/garages hate rating and complaining about the competition's builds/tunes you'll see how shady these guys are....just as bad, if not worse than the painters.

I personally don't care what the rating is on a design as I'll buy it if it looks good no matter what it's rated, I usually scroll a long way through the 'most downloaded' page and have a look around as a lot of great designs don't have many downloads. A lot of people may really like your design but never rated it, I do this quite a lot if I'm in a rush so the rating isn't really a true story of what everyone thinks. If it's tunes then I take the rating into consideration unless it's a tuning garage I know quite well because there are no previews of the tune which makes it hard to know what you're buying.

There are people who will try and ruin it for others on every game, I've had the same done to me on Modnation Racers (PS3) but I just carried on and still got quite a lot of downloads despite having a lower rating.

Actually Wiggs. There's no need to purchase to rate stuff.

I think.

Really? You could be right, but if someone wanted to give you a low rating they wouldn't care if they had to spend a few credits to do it. BTW, I still owe you for giving me feedback on my Datsun tune. I'll be picking up some of your designs and rating them soon.

Just to add to this.

Tunes: Early on in the game, before I found 2 great tuners who deserves HIGH rating for sure, IMHO, I realized not all 5 star ratings are 5 stars. I think you have to find a really good tuner and work with him. If buy a tune and don't like it, there's no refunds, C'est la vie. Having friend rate a tune 5 stars when it's crap I fear is part of all games.

Designs: Spagetti, I have seen your design and I personally like them---5 stars. If people view a design and like it they will buy it. I hear you about ratings, that what's help sales and recognition. I've found one of mine in the bottom 1/3, with no rating at all. Hard to find.
I have made designs, (I am not very good) and I"m glad someone enjoys it enough to buy it, but like everyone else, it's nice to hear from someone personally that they like your, tune/designs.

I hope I didn't offend anyone, that's not my intent!!!

Ah no problem wiggsy. I like to share and help others if possible.
Just the minority spoil stuff as usual.

Edit to add.

Yes the tuners out there do get a rougher deal IMHO. I have some decent tuners in my favourites list. That's where I would go.
