Downshifting in Automatic Mode

Pretty much all cars allow manual downshifting when in automatic gear mode. they usually switch back to automatic after ~10 seconds.

In GT7 when gear is set to automatic, the shifting paddles don't work at all.

Is there a way to make GT7 allow manual downshifting in automatic mode?

Not as far as I know. In Missions and licences I found this an issue at times so switched to Manual. It seems worse in slower cars. You have to over break to get it from 3rd to 2nd gear.
