Hello guys.

Well, i'll start saying that i'm very surprised to find a Gran Turismo 2 Forum! It's a jewel!

I've been playing GT2 in my old PS1. I already won all the game, that's why i'm now trying different things.

Well, i'm tuning my cars to 0-400 times. In other words, i'm trying to get the best 0-400 times as possible.

Then, what are the Tuning adjustments needed to get the best performance in "Drag Race"?

See ya, guys.

My drag tuning:
max spring rate for most car
min front, max rear ride height
max damper
0 camber
0 toe or +0.20 rear toe
1 stabilizer

Gearing is very important, experiment yourself, see if you only need 2 gear or you need all 5 gear.
As tire spinning is slow, try starting at 2nd gear too, or make 1st gear the same as that 2nd gear if you know how. test what final drive give the best result too.

Experiment with different flywheel and driveshaft.

for testing, post your current 0-400time, and I'll post mine, anycar will do.

Gs!

My best is 16.056 I think for 1000m. Dunno about 400m thought. Bloody memeroy card.

And, as suchayo said, gearing is very important.

This forum rules. IT's the only one devoted to GT2 that discusses GT2 almost everyday. You'll never have a dull moment here! Other sites? You'll see the last post was in December of 2004 or something. Not here.

Like Sucahyo said, minimum front height and max rear height helps alot of cars. Camber and toe should be on zero on all drive wheels. And on many cars, you can launch in 2nd gear. You have to experiment with different starting revs to do this (try 3,000 4,000 rpm, 4,500 rpm, 5,000 rpm etc). I've noticed that every car has an optimum place in the torque band for the clutch to grab with minimal wheelspin, which will vary with engine tuning, of course.

Finally, getting on the gas will create wheelspin for lots of cars (especially FR and FF) if this happens, don't mash the throttle. Instead, push it till it starts to slip, then quickly back off a bit, then give partial throttle if you can. This will cause the wheels to grip the road more. It won't "feel" as fast, but compare your 400m times back and forth between a car spinning wheels and one that's gripping, and usually the grippy one gets the better time.

:sly: And that's the truth!

Kinda good the hints you gave me.. I'll use'em wisely. =D

Now i am trying to win the game again: I started a new game (in another memory card) and i'm trying to get all Gold in the Licenses.. God, i'm kinda stucked in "A" ones!(Supra and Altezza ones..) Do you have hints?

At last, i would like to get the Hidden Cars, but my PS doesn't have a Game Shark Slot. Then, the only thing i can do is use "Game Shark in CD" (don't know the real name). The thing i would like to know:
*Do you know a way to download the Game Shark in CD, then modify it to make it have just the codes for the Hidden Cars? I've been looking for a while for it, and just can't find a way to get it... =/

Get a Dex Drive off of Ebay for $8.00 and You can downloard or several people can send you a save with Hidden cars or anything you want, In my opion GT2 requires a Dex Drive and a second memory card, With the Dex Drive you can save as man GT2 saves as you like on your computer, It's well worth the money if you like GT2, Especially if you don't like your garage disappearing on you!

Problem 1: I am Brazilian (that's the reason of my bad English).
Problem 2: I don't trust much in this kind of "business"..

What a pity.. :nervous:

The Altezza test (A4) is damn near impossible. I have no hints other than the watch the damno...err demo. Watch it over and over but watch from inside or behind the car (Chase View 1, 2, or 3....whichever one you use to drive). While you study the demo, you should have the little accel/brake meters on (the red & blue meters that you can turn on with your X button during the replay) to help you to know when to brake and when to hit gas. I think there's a like a quarter or half a second during which you're supposed to coast while you're turning--with no gas or brakes being pressed.

Basically, you have to nail the A4/Altezza test. You have to drive almost exaclty like the demo. It really makes you realize how much of a bear FR cars can be, doesn't it? :(

The Supra test? I can post a link to a thread I created long ago here it is:

And as far as prize cars are concerned: my advice is just to do it the old-fashioned way: win them...earn them. A prize car feels a bit more special when the game gives it to you, know what I mean? And in the process, you only become a better sim-driver. :)

Well... They are not the "Prize Cars", but the "Hidden" ones that i want... Like CLK and the Hidden Nissans...

And about the test, it's the "A License" one, not the "IC"... By the way, in the "IC" i did the same thing.. xD
