It does look terrible. They don't even really show any ingame drifting. Have you played this game?

i found this game on the used rack a while ago,
it does look bad, it plays even worse (worse than modelista
)
but the story ROCKS!! i have never been more entertained!
it takes a turn when the main character and his MR2 driving rebel of a buddy bust into a gang hideout to put the lead pipe to work and even a revolver that pops out of nowhere.
and if you win a specific race against an evo6 dude, you get his girlfriend.
it has its good moments, like when the hero goes to america as part of a exchange program. he has a tough time getting by withou the cash flow, so you get to work at a car wash. yes you wash them manualy. like you use the hose tool and scrub tool in a thumb numbing effort to make some bucks. your extra time is spent proving to the local americans of your awesome skills. hehe...
the plot segments are really long and sometimes cumbersome for those who cant decipher the hiragana

Yeah. but the fact of the matter is it didnt. Yes, I admit it, the mods were nice. I enoyed it for that much. But it took all the wind from my sail when i couldnt do the moutain courses the way you should be able to. When I say should be able to, I mean do it with the right physics. If you tap the stick you go into a spin.

lol yeah. drifting in that game was also horrible, you'd lose speed in a drift more then keeping a nice hi-rpm. and yeah, i was only defending the game cuz i enjoyed modding the cars that i bought. that game's horrible online. like 8 people total who play it online.
and none were touge racers either all they were we city racers. and they all had 900+ HP while my hachi roku had only 289...
i hope GT4 won't be like that. speaking of gt4, i hear its going to get pushed back even further. up to may '04. cause on saturday, i went to go reserve it @ EB and the guy said that it's most likely getting postponed for May so i decided not to reserve it.

Drift Champ is in EXTREME CONTRAST of physics to that of modleista, and just about every other racing game ever made.its more like the initial d game than anything else. VERY(x2) FAST AND VERY SENSITIVE TO SUBTLE MOVEMENTS, in fact your drift almost all the time to get anywhere. there is some unconventional techniques to use to keep going faster, like drifting. so to sum it up, the more you drift sucessfuly, the faster your get the 1990 mr2 to go, and beat out the skylines and civic type things.
best part in the whole thing: the rival "gang" of goth devotees/skyline drivers, kidnap your girlfirend and throw her out a 2nd deck window. you rush her to a hospital and she sits there with a fork in one hand looking outside all day.
now being the concerned predertimed character you are, an attempt to sooth her fork wielding anger ends in the poor redheaded girl stabbing herself in the leg several times. you reach to stop it and then she stabs you! what fun! its like a Hgame sometimes and really funny in a spaceballs type way ("iksna to the anjika")
