Drift Photo Competition Restart - Interest, Comments, Suggestions and Ideas.

Bring back the Drift Photo Tournament!!

Using the PMC rules is a wise choice, i think it will attract some new customers to the tournament!

On the point of allowing only picassa to be used, my only issue is.. how would we monitor people are using picassa or not?. If everyone follows the PMC rules there should be no benefit using photoshop over Free programs available on the internet. As only Brightness and contrast can really be adjusted, which is widely available in such programs as picassa and Gimp.

On many occasions in the photomode forums, members who use free programs like Gimp, etc.. win over the photoshop users which is why the PMC competition rules are so great!, they are very Universal!

If people are worried about photoshop users using extra tools and adjustments, the keen eye competitors will pick it out straight off. The PMC has been able to run successfully for over a year now, so theres no reason why this tournament shouldn't do the same under the same requirements. 👍

There are so many programs you can adjust brightness/contrast in, it doesn't really matter what they do it imo. I could list a few free programs like Picassa as Swift suggested if they don't have anything. I think that should be fine.

@Funkshen: I think I would rather just keep it a weekly photo competition, easier for me. If you really want the Drift Photo Tournament back, you could always start it again. 👍

Also one question I don't think I have asked. Should this comp stay in the Drift comp section, or should I move it with all the other photo competitions? Or is there a way to have it in one area, and have a link to it in the other area?

In the new year, i will most likely start up the Drift Photo Tournament once again. The timing will depend on when i gather my broadband connection once again, as for a short period of time in between moving houses ive been opted to use dial-up. It sucks!, its bulls*** slow!

We'll see how things go... but a 90% chance it will be back up and running soonish.

It would be cool if it was in both the "PhotoMode Competition" forum and the "Drift Competition" forum LOON. I don't know how I would go about doing it though. If I made two seperate threads for the same comp, it would get confusing when it came to poll time. I might have to stick with one, but which one??

You are right, the Photomode forum gets a lot of views. How do I go about getting a thread stickied? Guess it is up to the mods.

I will be starting up this competition in the next few weeks, kind of busy and I want to get some banners made. I will be up and running again in January, you can be sure of that.

Just wanted to ask you all something, the Photo Competition has a lot of competitons in there already, some new ones are starting up too. So I am wondering if I should still put it there or put it in the Drift Competition thread?

I only have seen this thread today...and this comp. sounds good, beacause drift gives a lot of cool shots. IMO you should post in the Photo Comp. because it gets a lot of views, and if people decide to enter is up to them. See my case, I have seen this thread in Photo Comps...

Yeah, that would be a great idea if I could. That is what I wanted to do. I think Marouan idea is a good one. Have it in the Photo forum and have a thread in the Drift Competition forum linking to it. Have it stickied to so it is always at the top. I would update with the link to the latest comp and poll.

What do you think Swift, can it be done?

I'm sure Swift will be more then happy to oblige.

I just hope the drift photo competition won't get lost amongst the other competitions in the photomode forum, like some of the newer competitions in that forum have done previously.

I think im in the same state of mind as Swift and am really 50/50 on the situation, it will be disapointing to see it go from this drifting forum, as the competition is a major interest for the public, as this forum lacks interest as it is.

I'm really more comfortable in having a sticky in the photomode forum, and for the competition to stay running here. The difference in competitors wouldn't be much different (so i would think), and it will still allow interest to stay active in this drifting forum, but then again im speaking in theory. But naturally majority rules and you can't make everyone happy 👍

If i decide to run the Drifting photomode tournament, it will deffinetely be staying here, as i think by that stage the photomode forum will be bursting at it's seams.

That is what I am worried about to, there are so many competitions there. A few of them do really well while others fade away. Hopefully that won't happen to this one.

I feel the same as you and Swift, I would really like to keep it here. But I just don't think it will last and end up like before. It is a pitty that this Drifting forum is lacking interest. It is what got me into GTPlanet. At least if I had a thread linking to it stickied then people who come here and don't go to the photo section would see it.

Guess I will just have to see what happens when I start it. Which I am not quite sure when that will be.

I look forward to the Photo Tournament if you decide to run it. You are right, I think the photo forum is already bursting.
