LAUNCHING AUTUMN 2016, DRIVETRIBE WILL BE THE PLACE PEOPLE WHO LOVE CARS CAN CALL HOME.
WHATEVER YOUR PASSION, BE IT DRIFTING AND MONSTER TRUCKS, AIR-COOLED 911s AND CLASSIC FERRARIS, OR EVEN MOTORCYCLES, …. YOU’LL FIND A TRIBE THAT FITS.
HOSTED BY CLARKSON, HAMMOND, MAY ALONG WITH INVITED BLOGGERS, VLOGGERS AND WRITERS, IT’S SET TO BECOME THE LARGEST DIGITAL MOTORING PLATFORM ONLINE - A SUPERCHARGED DESTINATION FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT HAS WHEELS.
WE'RE GIVING YOU THE CHANCE TO DO WHAT WE DO. WE ARE OPENING THE DOORS TO FIND THE WORLD'S BEST #DRIVENTALENT. WE'RE CREATING THE ULTIMATE MOTORING DESTINATION.

Looks like this could be pretty interesting. I can think of quite a few members here whose writing could help them "lead a tribe."

COULD YOU LEAD A TRIBE?
DO YOU WRITE, SHOOT, FILM AND CREATE STORIES THAT HAVE MOTORING AND ADVENTURE IN THEIR VEINS?

THEN YOU'RE INVITED TO BLAZE A TRAIL AS ONE OF OUR LAUNCH TRIBE LEADERS ALONGSIDE CLARKSON, HAMMOND AND MAY.

YOU'LL GET TO RUN YOUR OWN CHANNEL THAT REFLECTS YOUR MOTORING PASSION, LEAD A FAN BASE OF MILLIONS, AND PUBLISH YOUR OWN CONTENT ACROSS WRITTEN, IMAGE, VIDEO AND INTERACTIVE.

IT'S YOUR CHANCE TO SHOWCASE YOUR WORK ON THE BIGGEST DIGITAL STAGE MOTORING HAS EVER SEEN.

Whether this idea takes off or not, I feel like we need somewhere for GTP members to discuss it.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area!

At first I thought, "Hey! Great idea!", but then I remembered how 🤬 is the online car-community in general. Ever been to Jalopnik? Or Car Throttle? SpeedHunters' comments section? Or, God forbid,/o/? Somehow, the motoring lifestyle manages to attract some of the obnoxious and unintelligent people around, benchracers, bigots, posers, you name it!

The only place I've found where good discussion can be had is here in :gtpflag:, and that's partly because we have incredibly strict moderators (PS: I love you, guys! :D)

Met a guy from /o/ actually. Compared to a lot of the other posters on that board, he was actually pretty down to earth. Just because someone's a certain way online doesn't necessarily mean they're exactly the same in real life. I think it's easier to be obnoxious in front of a computer screen than in front of people.

I'd give it a go but if the established ones have failed then surely this one will. It'll have to be something special.

I don't think the established ones have failed, which is the curious thing about Drivetribe's pitch. Pistonheads has been around for yonks and is still going strong with thousands of members and regular meets, Car Throttle is frankly huge (albeit, I suspect, difficult to monetise) and really Jalopnik isn't as bad comment-wise as @CarBastard makes out - since Gawker introduced whatever system filters regular/highly-rated posters from others it's generally been fairly good and some of the occasional contributors are fairly good. Speedhunters is perfectly decent too - it's not a forum as such, but there's definitely a fair community feel to it.

If this one will succeed I imagine it'll do so in volume - like Car Throttle, it should attract people from all over the world. Though if they're expecting interaction with Clarkson/May/Hammond in the same way you can chat to CT's lot, people are gonna be disappointed.
